Abstract

The vertical single shaft kiln, which works alternately by the counter current and parallel flow system is vertically partitioned into at least two channels which are interconnected by openings in the bottom end of the combustion zone. The channels have pref. elliptical cross sections. The design greatly reduces heat losses and is used for lime stone firing for cement manufacture.
