CONSISTE EN LA REDUCCION SELECTIVA DE UN ACIDO TRANS-FENILPARACONICO, DE FORMULA (II) O UN DERIVADO ADECUADO DEL MISMO, PARA OBTENER UN COMPUESTO DE FORMULA (I), EN LA QUE EL ANILLO BENCENICO B PUEDE TENER UNO O DOS SUSTITUYENTES. LA REDUCCION SE LLEVA A CABO CON UN DIBORANO O UN BOROHIDRURO DE METAL ALCALINO, EN PRESENCIA DE UN ACIDO DE LEWIS TAL COMO CLORURO DE ESTAÑO (IV).
