Abstract

An external minifixation apparatus for use as a bone lengthener, comprises a rigid bar (3) bearing two clamps (5) and (9) for holding pins (8), each clamp consisting of two jaws (4, 6, 10, 11) which are closeable by means of a screw (7) at least one of the clamps being displaceable longitudinally of the axis of the bar, the clamp having one of its jaws (10) provided with a carriage (12) which is displaceable within an opening (13) in the bar by rotation of a threaded rod (14) which passes through a cavity in the carriage (12), the cavity having a thread mating with the thread on the rod (14) and the lower part of the jaw (10) having surfaces (15) for resting against the bar.
