DURANTE LA ETAPA DE REACCION SE OXIDA EL MATERIAL LIPIDICO POR CONTACTO CON UN AGENTE OXIDANTE, LLEGANDO A ALCANZAR LA OXIDACION UN VALOR COMPRENDIDO ENTRE 5 Y 150 MILIQUIVALENTES POR KILO DE MATERIAL LIPIDICO.
