PROCEDIMIENTO PARA LA PREPARACION DE DERIVADOS DE BENZOFURANO 2-SUSTITUIDO. SE PARTE DE UN COMPUESTO (I) EN QUE R<4 ES H, SE REDUCE REACTIVAMENTE UNA CETONA (II) AL ALCOHOL CORRESPONDIENTE; SE HALOGENA EL ALCOHOL Y LUEGO SE HACE REACCIONAR EL HALOGENURO OBTENIDO (I) DONDE R<5 ES UN ATOMO DE HALOGENO CON LA BASE APROPIADA. SI SE DESEA, EL ALCOHOL OBTENIDO, SE HACE REACCIONAR CON EL CLORURO DE ACIDO, ANHIDRIDO O ISOCIANATO ADECUADO. LA REDUCCION SE LLEVA A CABO CATALITICAMENTE O CON UN AGENTE REDUCTOR DEL TIPO DE HIDRURO METALICO COMPLEJO O COMPOSICIONES REACTIVAS PORTADORAS DE HIDROGENO NACIENTE; LA HALOGENACION TIENE LUGAR MEDIANTE UN HALOGENURO DE TIONILO O DE FOSFORO.
