PRIMERAMENTE SON HILADAS EN SECO UNAS FIBRAS DE VIDRIO SODICO SOLUBLE QUE CONTIENEN AGUA Y QUE, ESENCIALMENTE, SE ENCUENTRAN EXENTAS DE COMPUESTOS METALICOS NO ALCALINOS. A CONTINUACION, DICHAS FIBRAS SON TRATADAS CON SOLUCIONES ACUOSAS DE ACIDOS O SALES QUE CONTIENEN IONES HIDROGENO, PARA EFECTUAR LA CONVERSION DEL SILICATO SODICO EN ACIDO SILICICO. LAS FIBRAS RESULTANTES SON LAVADAS Y SECAS, ASI COMO EVENTUALMENTE TRATADAS TERMICAMENTE.
