A method of obtaining a copy from an original document comprising the steps of providing an electrostatgraphic imaging element having a recording surface, forming an electrostatic latent image on said recording surface, and contacting said electrostatic latent image with a developer mixture comprising finely divided printing powder particles electrostatically adhering to the surface of a carrier, said carrier comprising a core particle surrounded by a thin outer layer, said outer layer comprising a poly (p substituted and/or unsubstituted -xylylene), whereby at least a portion of said finely divided printing powder particles are attracted to and deposited on said recording surface in accordance with said electrostatic latent image.
