Abstract

Un procedimiento para la purificación y clarificación de jugo de azúcar, caracterizado por comprender las etapas de (1) separar mecánicamente los materiales contaminantes insolubles del jugo, (2) someter el jugo así tratado a una ultrafiltración con una membrana semipermeable que permite el paso de agua y de moléculas de azúcar e impide el paso de compuestos de peso molecular elevado, (3) añadir agua al concentrado y someter el concentrado a una ultrafiltración repetida para separar el azúcar restante del mismo, (4) repetir la etapa 3, si se desea, (5) combinar los productos permeados de 2, 3 y 4 y purificar los productos permeados combinados por un procedimiento seleccionado del grupo que consta de un tratamiento químico, una filtración, un tratamiento de intercambio iónico, una electrodiálisis, una ósmosis inversa y combinaciones de dos o más de estos tratamientos.
