Abstract

A crimping connector C for connecting the shield of a shielded wire to an earthing wire is formed from sheet metal and comprises an inner cylindrical ferrule 8 joined by a strip 12 to a U-shaped outer ferrule 10. The central conductor and surrounding insulation of the shielded wire are passed into the inner ferrule 8 and the braided shield is placed between the two ferrules, together with the bared end of the earthing wire (Fig. 1, not shown). The connector is then crimped, holes 14 in ferrule 10 ensuring good electrical connection and allowing inspection, and the inner ferrule protecting the central conductor and insulation from damage. A plurality of connectors C are joined in manufacture to a carrier strip 5 by slugs 1, and may be insulated before or after connection.
