Abstract

Novel compounds of Formula I wherein R 1 and R 2 , which may the same or different, each represents a hydrogen or halogen atom, or a hydroxy, alkyl or alkoxy group, and R 3 represents either a linear or branched, alkyl or alkenyl radical with 2 to 6 carbon atoms, a pyridyl radical, a phenyl or pyridyl radical substituted by one or more halogen atoms or hydroxy, amino, alkoxy or alkyl groups, or R 3 represents an alkoxy group with 1 to 6 carbon atoms, or a group of the formula -NR6R5 wherein R 5 and R 6 each represents an alkyl group with 1 to 6 carbon atoms or may, together with the nitrogen atom, form a 5-, 6- or 7- membered heterocyclic ring optionally containing a further hetero atom, whilst R 5 can also represent a hydrogen atom, whilst any primary amino groups present may optionally be acylated by aliphatic acids or derivatives of carbonic acid, and salts of these compounds, with the proviso that R 1 does not represent an alkyl group when R 3 represents an alkoxy group with 1 to 6 carbon atoms are prepared by one of the following methods (a) by reacting a compound of formula with one of the following (i) potassium cyanate or a cyanate of formula O=C=N-R 4 where R4 is C 1-6 alkyl or (ii) with an acid of formula R 3 COOH or a halide, ester, anhydride, amide or ketene derivative thereof or (iii) with a carbonic acid derivative and simultaneously or successively ammonia or an amine H-N.R6.R5 or with (iv) a compound R 7 NH-COR 3 where R 7 is H, acyl or NO 2 , (b) by reacting a compound of formula with an amine H-N.R6.R5, or (c) forming an amino containing R 3 substitutent in Formula I above by reduction of the corresponding nitro compound and in all cases optionally followed by salt formation or N-acylation of primary amine groups. The novel compounds have analgesic and antiphlongistic properties.
