Abstract

The compounds of formula VI - the meaning of the symbols is defined in Claim 1 - are prepared by reaction of a corresponding indole either with an omega -haloamine or first with ethyl chloroacetate or acrylonitrile and then, after saponification to the carboxylic acid, with an amine NHR4R5, and the amide formed is reduced. The starting indoles can be obtained by well-known Fischer or Bichler methods. The compounds of formula VI as well as their acid addition salts are useful in medicine as anti-depressant agents for the central nervous system.
