Abstract

Novel indol derivatives of the following formula I <IMAGE> are prepared, in which the substituents are defined in Claim 1. These compounds are obtained by reacting an appropriately substituted isocyanato- or isothiocyanato-indol compound with an amine of the formula R<4>NH2. The said compounds can be present as acid addition salts and they can also be converted into the corresponding quaternary ammonium salts. The said compounds have a hypotensive and anti-hypertensive activity and can be used as medicaments for the treatment of hypertension or alternatively as intermediates for the production of compounds having hypotensive activity.
