Abstract

Novel indole derivatives of the following formula I <IMAGE> in which the substituents are defined in Claim 1, are prepared. These compounds are obtained by reducing a corresponding pyridinium compound. The said compounds can be converted into the corresponding acid addition salts or quaternary ammonium salts, and when A means the keto group in resulting compounds it can be selectively reduced to the hydroxyl group. The said compounds display a hypotensive and antihypertensive activity and can be used as pharmaceuticals for the treatment of hypertension or else as intermediates for the preparation of compounds with hypotensive activity.
