Abstract

In a liquid dispensing apparatus, the dispensing nozzle has a first passage 8, 6 for e.g. fuel and a second passage 7, 11 connected to a suction pump for extracting vapour. The fuel passes a check valve 9 and if the vapour passage is closed by the liquid level, the reduced pressure drop closes a valve 12 to prevent the entrance of liquid into the passage 7. The reduced pressure may actuate a diaphragm to close a valve in the fuel line. Induction coils 13, 14 are influenced by surrounding metal to modify a signal to ensure that the nozzle is properly inserted in a filler tube or can be used to control fuel flow.
