Abstract

In textile drafting apparatus, particularly in apparatus working dyed worsted fibre, one roll 22 of a pair of rolls 22, 24 is in frictional contact with a suction duct 38 to be cleared thereby. A notch 54 is cut at the forward part of duct 38 to collect fly, laps and the like while the rear edge 46 acts as a scraper. The duct 38 slides in a further duct 40 to accommodate movement of the roller 22. Duct 40 is connected to a duct 44 which runs longitudinally of the spindles and may be connected to an independent source of low pressure or as shown it may be connected to a duct 34 running beneath the bottom roller 24. Orifices 36 in duct 34 clear the bottom rollers and catch broken ends alternatively suction ducts similar to ducts 38 are provided for the bottom rolls also. Ducts 38 and 40 are of a wear-resistant, plastics material such as Delrin (Registered Trade Mark).
