Abstract

Se describen procedimientos de reducción del contenido de y de prevención de la formación de nitrosaminas carcinogénicas en plantas de hojas cosechadas como tabaco y marihuana. Los procedimiento se dirigen a someter las plantas a radiación con microondas, durante el tiempo adecuado en el ciclo de curado. Con tabaco, los productos adecuados para el consumo humano, como cigarros, puros, etc., puede hacerse de acuerdo con la presente invención, teniendo un contenido de nitrosaminas específicas del tabaco en igualdad con el tabaco verde, recién cortado. En realizaciones preferidas, los productos de tabaco resultantes se secan, teniendo las hojas amarillo-doradas cantidades apenas perceptibles de los carcinógenos conocidos NNN y NNK, si se compara con el tabaco curado convencionalmente.
