Abstract
Un procedimiento para fundir minerales, especialmente minerales de hierro, caracterizado porque una mezcla briquetada de mineral de grano fino, un agente reductor de grano fino, que en parte es hulla grasa y en parte un combustible no graso, por ejemplo hulla no grasa, así como un aglutinante, como por ejemplo, cal, arcilla, marga o pez, se introduce correspondiendo a la carga con la máxima uniformidad posible, por ejemplo, mediante una válvula de compuerta, en un horno de cuba, en el cual la distancia de una fila de toberas de viento enfrentadas es igual o menor de unos 3 metros, se funde manteniendo una altura de carga de aproximadamente 2 a 6 metros por encima del plano de las toberas y porque de los gases del tragante se extraen los alquitranes de la destilación seca por condensación.
