Abstract
854,412. Coke. VERKAUFSVEREINIGUNG FUR TEERERZEUGNISSE VfT A.G. Feb. 22, 1957 [April 3, 1956], No. 5986/57. Class 55 (2). Coke, particularly for blast furnaces, is made from a mixture of petroleum coke, anthracite, hard pitch and bituminous coal in which at least 10% by weight is petroleum coke, more than 10% but not more than 35% is anthracite and the combined amounts of hard pitch and bituminous coal exceed the petroleum coke content. Preferably the mixture has the following percentage composition by weight: Petroleum coke .. 10-35 Anthracite ... 15-35 Hard pitch ... 10-20 Bituminous coal .. 20-45 Coke smalls, produced according to the invention, may be added in amounts between 2 and 4% by weight. Coking takes place at a temperature of between 930‹ C. and 950‹ C. The granular size of the particles of the mixture is : petroleum coke under 10 mm. and preferably under 7 mm., bituminous coal under 10 mm. and preferably under 5 mm., anthracite under 4 mm. and 90% thereof under 3 mm., hard pitch under 1 mm. and coke smalls under 1 mm. An example of the starting mixture in weight per cent is : Petroleum coke ... 25 Anthracite .... 22 Hard pitch ... 15 Bituminous coal ... 38 Specification 737,063 is referred to.
