Definitions

  • a paper packaging which is made from two rectangular paper layers lying one on top of the other, which are glued together on two first opposite side edges, with the paper layers on the two second opposite side edges are folded or rolled together and the folded or rolled edges are fixed by means of an adhesive connection or a connecting means.
  • the DE 42 06 968 A1 describes a method for wrapping stacks of paper in paper banderoles, the sides of which are folded in. Since the stacks of paper are of a uniform size, the process does not require adaptation to objects of different sizes.
  • the WO 95/09767 A1 describes a machine for packaging aluminum profiles between two layers of paper, with the side edges of the paper layers lying flat on top of each other and glued together.
  • the present invention is based on the object of providing a machine and a method which allow objects of different sizes to be efficiently packaged in tight-fitting paper packaging of the type mentioned at the outset.
  • the connecting device allows the paper layers to be connected to one another so that they lie tightly against the package on the opposite side edges in the transport direction of the package.
  • the other two side edges of the paper layers can also be rolled up or folded or folded to such an extent that the packaging tightly encloses the package even transversely to its transport direction.
  • a paper band is created that is closed on the side.
  • Layers of paper of the same width can be used for objects of very different widths. The difference in size of the objects or packages is compensated for by rolling or folding the side edges to a greater or lesser extent.
  • the side curling or side folding devices For this purpose, they are arranged to be movable transversely to the transport direction of the packages.
  • the connecting device can preferably have a glue application device.
  • the paper layers can also be connected to one another in other ways, for example by crimping, stapling, sewing or using adhesive tapes.
  • the connecting device can also have a separating device for separating the connected paper layers behind an incoming package. This enables continuous packaging of a large number of objects of different sizes. As soon as the paper layers of a package have been connected to one another in the transport direction behind the package, the connected paper layers are separated and a new package is brought in, while the already partially packaged package is transported further to the side rolling or side folding devices. If a glue application device is used to connect the paper layers, it can apply a double trace of glue and the paper layers can be separated between the glue traces. In this way, a paper curtain is created that is already connected, in particular glued, at the front (in front of the incoming package) and is ready for the next package.
  • the packaging machine has a take-off device for the interconnected paper layers, which can be moved in and against the transport direction of the package.
  • a take-off device also allows the packaging of soft and/or light objects that would not be able to independently move the interconnected paper layers in their transport direction when they are inserted.
  • the removal device for the paper layers can have gripping tongs that grip the edges of the paper layers.
  • the packaging machine can have devices for securing the folded or rolled edges against rolling up.
  • These devices can be, for example, glue application devices. But stapling, sewing or crimping the rolled edges using the devices is also possible. Or a means for applying adhesive tape to secure the edges may be provided.
  • the side rolling or side folding devices can be moved to half the height of the packages before the rolling process begins.
  • the packaging machine can then be used to band items.
  • the packaging machine can optionally have a further station for folding or folding the side edges in front of the side rolling or side folding device.
  • This station can also be set up to to fix the folded page edges in the folded state.
  • the station can be designed as a type of crimping or clinch station. With such a station, the side edges can, for example, be folded in/folded once and fixed in the folded position.
  • One or more mandrels in particular 3 - 5 mandrels, can enter from below through the edge of the packaging into press sleeves arranged above the folded edge of the packaging (which has several layers of paper at this point). Paper enters a channel between the mandrel and the sleeve.
  • the paper is then pressed together by the sleeve and thereby remains in its position.
  • a hollow rivet effect is created. This prevents the folded edge of the packaging from being reset again, i.e. unrolled or unfolded.
  • the station can be width-adjustable so that it can be adapted to packages of different widths. In particular, an automatic setting can take place depending on the detected width of the object to be packaged.
  • the packaging machine can also have one, preferably two, stations for inserting resealable adhesive strips.
  • a reclosable adhesive strip can be arranged on opposite side edges.
  • the packaging is reusable.
  • the packaging can first be closed by means of the connection, in particular an adhesive connection.
  • the recipient of the packaging can open the packaging by loosening the connection.
  • a protective strip can then be removed from the resealable adhesive strip and the packaging, for example for return, can be closed on the previously opened side edge using the resealable adhesive strip.
  • the invention also relates to a method for packaging objects in paper packaging with the features of patent claim 9.
  • a package here means an item to be packaged that is inserted between the layers of paper.
  • a packaging machine according to the invention can be used, which allows fully automated and continuous packaging of objects of different sizes in paper packaging.
  • the paper layers can be removed from paper supply rolls. This allows for waste-free packaging of items of different sizes in any order.
  • the paper layers can be connected to each other behind the package and separated precisely. The side edges of the paper layers are then rolled up, folded or folded to such an extent that the packaging also tightly encloses the object on the side.
  • step d After completing step d. A new package can already be added. This enables a continuous, synchronized packaging process in which objects of different sizes can be packaged in any order and without having to retool the machine in the meantime.
  • interconnected paper layers are removed in the transport direction of the package before a package is inserted between the paper layers.
  • Lightweight items or items that are not inherently rigid can also be packaged in this way.
  • the connecting of the paper layers and the folding or rolling of the side edges of the paper layers can preferably be done at least approximately half the height of the package. This is the most effective way to avoid wrinkles and tension in the packaging.
  • the side edges of the paper layers can be placed flat on top of each other before they are rolled up, folded or wrapped together. Fixing the stacked side edges before rolling is also conceivable.
  • Fig. 1 Machine 10 shown for packaging an object/package 11 in a packaging consisting of an upper paper layer 12 and a lower paper layer 13 has a connecting and separating device I, an optional device II for stacking and folding and optionally fixing, for example by crimping, the side edges of the paper layers 12 , 13 as well as a side rolling or side folding device III, a device IV for securing the rolled edges against rolling up and a device V for transporting away a finished packaged item.
  • the devices and devices III, IV and V are all arranged in the same machine area. The function of the individual devices is explained with reference to Fig. 2 described in more detail.
  • the direction of transport of the package 11 through the machine is marked by an arrow T.
  • the 1st to 5th steps in Fig. 2a explain the beginning of the packaging of the object 11 until it leaves the connecting and separating device I Fig. 1 .
  • the 1st step shows an incoming package 11, at its free end upper and lower paper layers 12, 13 connected to one another to form a paper curtain, and a take-off device 14 for the paper layers 12, 13, which in the 2nd step removes the connected paper layers 12, 13 in the transport direction T pulls over a feed table 16 so that the package 11 can be inserted between the paper layers 12, 13 (3rd step).
  • the paper layers 12, 13 are glued together and separated behind the package 11 at half its height by the connecting and separating device I, so that the package 11 is separated from the paper layers 12, 13 except for its sides Art banderole is included and a new paper curtain for that Packaging of a new object 11' is ready (6th step).
  • a trace of glue is applied using a glue application device 15.
  • the open side edges of the paper layers 12, 13 are brought together halfway up the package 11 and folded upwards in the edge area.
  • the folded side edges of the paper layers 12, 13 are fixed from below by vacuum strips 17, while glue application devices 18 each leave a trace of glue parallel to the side edges of the package Apply 11, 11k and at the same time press the paper layers 12, 13 against the vacuum strips 17.
  • the side rolling or side folding devices III are also shown, which can be moved perpendicular to the transport direction T in the direction of the arrows 19 towards the package and can thus roll up the side edges of the paper layers 12, 13 until the glue trace is reached.
  • the 10th step shows the finished package 11 with the flattened and glued rolled edges 20 in cross section.
  • Fig. 3 shows the finished packaged object 11 in the overall perspective view.
  • the rolled-up, pressed-together side edges 20, which are secured by gluing, can be seen and lie just as closely to the object 11 as the other two interconnected side edges 22, 23 of the paper layers 12, 13.
  • layers 12, 13 made of paper, in particular made of kraft paper, other materials such as nonwovens made of polyethylene (Tyvek) or coated types of paper or textile materials and films can also be used to produce the packaging.
