Definitions
- the invention relates to a can, in particular a beverage can, with a cylindrical container part and a can lid tightly connected to this via a fold joint, with a limited opening area provided in the lid material of the lid surface, and a two-armed lever element intended for opening this opening area, which is fixed to the lid material, in particular connected by riveting or welding.
- Metallic cans of this type are used on a very large scale worldwide, i.e. in quantities of many billions per year. They are simple and inexpensive to produce and allow space-saving stacking while ensuring the required tightness under all ambient conditions that occur in practice.
- the cans can be opened by the consumer simply by swinging up the long arm of the lever element.
- the known cans are made of aluminum alloys, it being customary to use aluminum 3000 alloy for the cylindrical part of the can and aluminum 5000 alloy for the lid part, since the technical requirements for the materials used in the can part and lid part are different.
- the material thickness of the To reduce can wall down to about 0.09 mm using the aluminum 3000 alloy, which is also cheaper than the aluminum 5000 alloy, which is commonly used as a lid material.
- the wall thickness of the lid material must be at least twice as great as the material thickness of the can wall in order to ensure the required compressive strength of the can despite the notch to be formed in the lid material to create a tear groove.
- This indentation or indentation limits the opening area and is of a depth typically about half the thickness of the can end.
- the WO 2011/095319 A1 discloses a can with a container part and a can lid tightly connected to it via a fold connection, with a limited opening area provided in the lid material of the lid surface, and a two-armed lever element intended for opening this opening area, which is firmly connected to the lid material, with the opening area designed as a tongue tab is delimited from the lid surface by a tear line extending over the circumference of the flap in the form of a weakened material and the tongue flap base connected to the lid surface forms a buckling bearing that becomes effective during the opening process, and the underside of the lid is particularly coated over the entire surface with an adhesive plastic material and this coating is Area of the tear line is weakened.
- Can lids with respective cylindrical container parts and lid parts are also in the U.S. 8,985,371 B2 , the U.S. 2003/062370 A1 , the CA2 412 518 A1 and the U.S. 2015/239607 A1 reveals the JP2003095264A discloses a can according to the preamble of claim 1.
- the object of the invention is to design a can and in particular a can lid to be connected to the cylindrical part of the can in such a way that, in addition to a desired further reduction in weight, the general production costs can be reduced.
- the process of opening the can should be easier, i.e. it should be able to be carried out with less force than with conventional cans, and all the other advantageous properties of known cans should otherwise be retained.
- the upper part and the can lid consist of the same aluminum alloy, and the opening area is separated from the lid surface by a microgap, in particular a punched gap, extending over the circumference of the tab.
- the container part and the can lid consist of the same aluminum alloy, in particular the alloy aluminum 3000, preferably 3104, the material thickness of the can lid being essentially the same as the material thickness of the container part and preferably not exceeding at least twice the material thickness of the container part.
- the requirements placed on the can lid in terms of tightness and pressure resistance are at least largely met by the layer of plastic material provided on the underside of the lid, in particular a firmly attached plastic film and, due to the special design of this plastic layer in the area of the tongue flap circumference, opening of the can is possible in a conventional manner, in particular with less force, if the notch delimiting the opening area is particularly deep or partially perforated or, above all, if a microgap is provided instead of a notch.
- the tongue tab of the metal can lid is separated from the surrounding lid surface by a cutting process, in particular a punching process, forming interlocking projections and recesses, and the tongue tab and the lid surface adjoining it are positively and non-positively locked via the projections and recesses, forming the Connected micro gap, the tightness of the filled and unopened can is ensured by the internal plastic coating or film with a thickness preferably in the range of about 1/10 mm to 2/10 mm.
- the projections and recesses are coupled in particular via undercuts, and the lid surface is concave in the area of the tongue tab, with the result that the pressure inside the container increases the pressure in the microgap.
- the plastic layer provided on the underside of the lid is preferably formed by a plastic film which, before being sealed to the underside, forms a separate blister molding in which the indentation or partial indentation decisive for opening the can is already provided.
- the notch in the Plastic film arranged radially outside of the micro-gap and slightly spaced from the micro-gap.
- the notch in the plastic material or in the plastic film is provided radially inside the microgap and at a small distance from the microgap.
- the representation after 1 shows a container part 15, shown only in sections, which is connected to a can lid 1 via a flanged or folded edge 2.
- the can lid 1 is provided with a tear-open closure, which in principle can be of any known shape, but preferably has one of the configurations described in the context of this application. This can be both non-reclosable embodiments and resealable embodiments, such as those shown in EP 2 354 022 B1 , in PCT/EP2016/057225 or DE 10 2016 103 801.6 are described.
- the aluminum alloy used for the can lid 1 does not differ from the material of the container part 15, but rather the same.
- an alloy from the Aluminum 3000 series is used for the container part 15, with this material already being able to achieve wall thicknesses of 0.09 mm in the course of the weight savings that are always being sought.
- an alloy from the Aluminum 5000 series is used as the material for the can lid, whereby a significantly higher wall thickness is required compared to the container part in order to be able to implement the material indentation along the tear line required for the tear-open closure and at the same time meet the requirements for pressure resistance To ensure internal pressures of at least 6.3 bar.
- the inventive design of the can lid and the tear-off closure makes it possible to use the same aluminum alloy for the container part 15 and the can lid 1, namely the aluminum alloy used for the container part 15, in particular from the aluminum 3000 series and preferably 3104.
- the can lid On its peripheral area, the can lid is conventionally provided with a beaded edge 2, the area lying inside the beaded edge 2 being formed by a lid surface 3 which has an opening area 4 designed as a tongue tab offset relative to the center.
- This can end preferably made of an aluminum alloy of the 3000 series, is provided with a stiffening area 14 formed by material deformation, surrounding the opening area 4 .
- the same aluminum alloy is preferably used for the container part 15 as well.
- a two-armed lever 5, 6 is connected, in particular riveted or welded, to the opening area 4 or the tongue tab of the can lid, so that a fixed connection point 7 results.
- connection point 7 is in the edge area of the opening area 4, i.e. opposite the tongue base connected to the cover surface (3), and the two-armed lever consists of a shorter and a longer area, with the longer lever preferably being supported by an easily grippable ring lug 5 and the shorter area is formed by a support leg 6, which is supported on a part of the stiffening area 14 of the can lid when the longer lever is pivoted up.
- the two-armed lever 5, 6 lies essentially parallel to the cover surface 3.
- the tongue tab forming the opening area 4 is positively and non-positively locking via projections 12 and recesses 13, forming a microgap 8 and preferably connected to the lid surface 3 via suitable undercuts of these parts, with the exception of the area of the tongue base 7, where the opening area 4 and the lid surface 3 are metallically connected, so that practically via a kind of articulated joint 9 when the can is opened, the tongue flap 3 is made possible by means of the lever and then the tongue tab and lever can reach a rest position outside the interior of the can, releasing the opening.
- the required tightness or pressure resistance of the can lid is ensured by a plastic material attached to the underside of the metallic lid, in particular over the entire surface, in particular a suitable plastic film, which adheres firmly to the The underside of the lid is attached or sealed.
- This coating has a pronounced weakening 14 immediately adjacent to and within the opening line or the microgap, in particular an indentation or partial perforation, so that when the can lid is opened and the tongue flap 4 is pulled up, the narrow area of the plastic film covering the microgap is practically detached from the Metal is peeled off, allowing the can to be opened with little effort.
- the opening area or the tongue tab is separated from the surrounding lid surface during manufacture of the can lid by a cutting or preferably a punching process, with the resulting chips or microparticles being contained in the frame of the manufacturing process can be completely and easily eliminated.
- the tongue tab which is still connected to the cover surface 3 via its base, is pressed back into the cover surface plane immediately after it has been punched out, so that the cover surface practically regains its original appearance results, but now with a microgap created by the punching operation.
- interlocking projections 12 and recesses 13 are preferably produced during the punching process, as is the case in FIG 1 can be seen.
- the two initially partially separate components are reconnected in a form-fitting manner, so that the can end can be handled in further production steps in the same way as conventional can ends, which only have a weakening groove.
- the processes of separating and joining together take place directly one after the other, i.e. after the punching stroke, the two parts are brought together in a form-fitting manner in the return stroke to form a complete part.
- the positive and non-positive connection between the two areas is achieved by suitable shaping or by using undercuts, which ensures a sufficient mutual mechanical connection, so that the necessary coating processes or the process of applying the film on the underside can then be carried out as with a uniform part can be carried out.
- the opening area or the tongue tab remains connected to the cover surface 3 via the buckling bearing area 9 and the microgap through the internally located, with a notched plastic film is covered.
- the plastic film which can be a PP film that reacts when it is sealed with the sealing wax provided on the metal, is produced in particular as a separate blister molding in which the notch is already provided. For example, if the film is about 2/10 mm thick, the notch will be weakened to 1/100 mm.
- the slightly enlarged partial view 2 shows, in addition to the design of the connection point 7 in the manner of a rivet bond, above all the full-surface attachment of the plastic film 10 to the underside of the can lid and in particular the formation of the weakening line 11 in the plastic film 10, which is preferably achieved by a notch and/or a notch in certain areas, which varies depending on the Embodiment extends inside or outside the microgap around the opening area 4, the distance between the weakening line and the microgap being dimensioned such that on the one hand the requirements for the pressure resistance of the can are reliably met and on the other hand the peeling effect already mentioned results during the opening process.
- the same aluminum alloy can be used for both the container part and the can lid, preferably with the same material thickness .

Description
- Fig. 1
- Fig. 2
Fig. 1 .
Fig. 1 zu entnehmen ist.
