Definitions

  • the invention relates to a positioning cushion and is applicable for the storage of a forearm on the therapy table or the armrest of a wheelchair for those affected with paralysis of an arm.
  • the paralyzed arm of the victim usually lies unprotected on the hard therapy table or on a small pillow, towels or similar materials. However, this offers little protection or comfort.
  • central paralysis due to nerve damage located in the brain or spinal cord
  • sensitivity disorders are often associated, as well as a so-called neglect. This means that the affected person has no feeling in the paralyzed arm and sometimes forgets it completely (Alien-Limb syndrome).
  • folds of clothing, pressure points and the hardness of the surface are not noticed or are noticed too late, which can lead to redness and skin damage and even pressure ulcers (pressure ulcers).
  • Vegetative disorders associated with paralysis such as increased sweating or swelling or spilled liquids, increase the risk.
  • positioning pillows includes a comfortable positioning (cushioning) of body parts of a person. They are also used for nursing or therapeutic purposes.
  • a typical nursing purpose is, for example, the prophylaxis and treatment of pressure sores and pain relief.
  • the principle of operation of a known pillow is as follows: Due to the large number of smallest filling elements, for example air-filled spheres, the weight is distributed over many small units, so that pressure relief is possible.
  • a storage cushion which is suitable for the storage of an arm in which the arm can be at least partially placed in a shaped body which is equipped with an L-shaped recess.
  • a therapeutic pillow with an elastic base body which is designed as a support for the head, wherein the base body has a trough pointing in the body direction for receiving the cervical vertebrae spinous processes.
  • a bead is arranged on the adjacent sides.
  • a therapeutic pillow which is designed so that it can be placed on a chair, especially a wheelchair, on the armrests. It is characterized by the fact that it is longer than the distance between the armrests and fixes the person sitting in it.
  • the DE 2601739 A1 describes a clamping device for immobilizing the forearm, wrist and hand of a patient during intravenous treatments.
  • the clamping device is based on a rigid, elongated element, which has a substantially convex surface, the shape of which is used to accommodate the normal broad side of the lower part of the forearm, the wrist and the palm of a patient.
  • the clamping device has a substantially concave surface, the shape of which serves to receive the normal back of the lower region of the forearm, the wrist and the palm of the patient, so that the convex and the concave surface extend over opposite sides of the elongate element and the contours of the convex and concave surfaces are provided in a complementary orientation, as a result of which the elongate element is given a substantially concave-convex cross section.
  • the US 2014/035802 A1 describes the fixation of a traumatized shoulder joint or arm, which can be indicated after an injury and is intended for standing patients.
  • the US 4.2100317 A involves the fixation of a patient on the operating table. Also in the GB 2156225 A a fixation device is described.
  • the DE 44 36 124 A1 describes a pillow with neck support, which consists of a shell divided into three chambers that extend transversely to the longitudinal direction of a person lying down and their filling.
  • the individual chambers have a different filling density in such a way that the middle chamber is designed to be softer as a support for the head than the two outer chambers.
  • the outer chambers each have a relatively steeply rising rounded shoulder, which rises above the middle chamber and adjoins the connecting seam to the middle chamber, and taper from the highest elevation of the shoulder, approximately over a distance corresponding to the distance between the first and last cervical vertebrae Length to the outside.
  • the pillow consists of an upper surface, which has a negative parabolic shape or a convex shape in relation to the base area, and a lower surface, which has a concave shape in relation to the base area.
  • the pillow has up to five zones.
  • the invention has for its object to provide a device which has an anatomically optimized shape to significantly improve the positioning of the forearm including elbow and hand and thereby distribute the pressure on the arm as possible on the soft parts and relieve the elbow , while increasing comfort for the user.
  • an open position of the hand should be achieved to counteract the formation of spasticity (cramping into a fist).
  • the anatomically adapted shape of the positioning cushion enables a sturdy arm to be supported, for example, paralyzed.
  • a particular advantage of the invention is that an inner side facing the body is concave and an outer side facing away from the body is convex and in the middle there is a depression which is reached by a central seam, the depression being limited by lateral beads and the pillow can be arranged on a fixed surface of the therapy table or fixation table on the wheelchair.
  • the depression reduces the pressure acting on the sensitive areas, as a result of which the risk of pressure points, in particular in the event of long contact, is significantly reduced.
  • the support of the elbow according to the invention and thus slight compression of the shoulder reduces pain and promotes an upright posture.
  • the center seam can be slightly curved towards the inside.
  • the invention enables the paralyzed arm to be supported in a stable manner on the solid surface and at the same time gives the surface a firm yet flexible base, which significantly reduces the risk of pressure ulcers forming.
  • the pillow is adapted in terms of its dimensions - length, width, height - to the user's forearm.
  • the different sizes thus meet the needs of the user, increase ergonomics and further improve the comfort of the invention.
  • the positioning cushion according to the invention offers a further advantage if the cushion on the part of the upper side that receives the elbow of the user has a narrower rear side that deviates from the remaining cushion width and / or on the part of the upper side that receives the front forearm of the user, has a wider front that differs from the rest of the pillow width.
  • the storage cushion is thus more space-saving (and especially optimized for use on the armrest of a wheelchair) and allows, for example, the further use of a therapy table for employment or meals without restriction.
  • the narrower rear prevents arm disability, while a wider front increases stability on a solid surface and also improves comfort for the user.
  • Another advantage is the soft and wider front of the storage cushion according to the invention for storing the hand.
  • the hand can lie freely and openly on the pillow and its function and mobility (e.g. in physiotherapy) are not hindered.
  • spasticity begins (paralysis with cramping into a fist)
  • the front part of the pillow can be gripped and "crunched" by the fist due to its soft and yielding consistency and the adjusted length. This prevents, for example, the fingernails from digging into the palm of the hand and causing wounds there, and the resilient resistance gently supports the opening of the fist.
  • An advantageous embodiment of the positioning cushion according to the invention provides an inner cushion with or without a separate cover, the central seam on the inner cushion and / or the Positioning pillow is arranged without a cover.
  • the cover can be changed if it is dirty or wet, which increases the hygiene and durability of the pillow.
  • the covers are washable depending on the material and protect the inner cushion from moisture and dirt and can create a more homely atmosphere due to the decorative property.
  • the storage cushion without a separate cover is made of skin-friendly material with moisture protection and fulfills all of the properties described. Its advantage is that it is easier to use.
  • At least one fastening element can be arranged on the storage cushion according to the invention, which is firmly connected to the inner cushion and / or the cover on the rear side and / or on the edge of the outside.
  • the connection of the fastening element to the inner cushion and / or the cover can be designed by multiple seams and / or in another way.
  • the positioning cushion can be connected and fixed, for example, to a wheelchair armrest. This prevents slipping.
  • At least two fastening elements are arranged on the pillow, each of which is firmly connected to the inner pillow and / or the cover at the edges of the inside and outside of the front of the pillow.
  • the connection of the fastening elements to the inner cushion and / or the cover can be designed by multiple seams and / or in another way. This allows the wrist to be loosely fixed on the pillow, particularly in the case of severely affected people, to make it difficult for the arm to slide down with a pronounced neglect. Should the arm nevertheless slide off the therapy table with the pillow, pinching it on the wheelchair is significantly less common.
  • the fastening elements are not in use, they can be connected under the pillow so that they do not disturb the user, or can advantageously also serve as fastening with underlying surfaces (for example the armrest of a wheelchair).
  • One or more of the fastening elements can be designed as a band with and / or without a Velcro fastener and / or as a band made of fabric.
  • a band saves money and at the same time enables a functional fixation by binding.
  • a Velcro fastener is practical and easy to use.
  • the material fabric is inexpensive and suitable for the application.
  • the material of the outside of the inner cushion and / or the cover and / or the cushion without cover can consist of cotton and / or coated cotton molton and / or can be sewn with PE yarn and / or be breathable.
  • natural and environmentally friendly materials are used in particular. Increase the material variants skin tolerance and the feeling of touch when the forearm is resting - especially when there is direct skin contact. This choice of material protects the skin from softening due to increased sweating and supports the sensitivity due to the pleasant surface. The skin-friendly materials also prevent allergic reactions.
  • the material can also make the positioning cushion more non-slip, especially when choosing the material on the underside of the positioning cushion.
  • the material of the cushion filling is made of polystyrene microbeads and / or spelled fur and / or polyester flakes. This optimizes the anatomical adaptability and the therapeutic effect of the pillow. If there is a tendency to spastic paralysis with a cramp in the hand to the fist, the flexible filling of the pillow enables open storage. This improves the function of the hand, prevents pain and injuries from your own fingernails and makes hygiene easier.
  • Figure 1 shows the storage cushion according to the invention with a concave inner side 1a and a convex outer side 1b, a recess 3 running in the central region of the upper side 2. This is made possible by the central seam 4. So that there is no continued fold, the central seam 4 was bent about 1.5 cm from the edge 8 on the rear side 6b by an angle of 15-20 degrees to the inside 1a of the pillow and for the Durability double stitched. Ridges 5a, 5b are arranged on each side of the recess 3.
  • the length of the large inner cushion is approximately 60 cm
  • the width of the front 6a is approximately 21 cm
  • the width of the rear side 6b is approximately 15 cm.
  • the positioning cushion is arranged on a therapy table of a wheelchair.
  • Two fastening elements 9a (tapes) were attached to the rear side 6b of the positioning cushion.
  • these are 3 cm wide and so long that they find a firm hold by binding to the armrest of the wheelchair (binding variant).
  • the length of the straps is 40 cm. They are sewn onto the back 6b of the pillow on the cover 7 in the side seam.
  • they can also be connected directly to the inner cushion or slightly to the concave side of the inner cushion or at the same place on the cover 7 by means of a seam or by other shapes, for example Velcro fastenings or gluing.
  • a Velcro fastener is arranged at the ends of the fastening elements 9a, with which they can be connected, for example, to the armrest of the wheelchair (Velcro variant).
  • the positioning cushion can also be arranged on other suitable surfaces 13.
  • the material of the cover 7 of this embodiment according to the invention is coated cotton molton.
  • the cover was sewn with PE thread and the edges 8 were overcast.
  • the material is breathable.
  • other materials are also conceivable which, according to the prior art, are suitable for the materials of a positioning cushion. Depending on the functionality, different materials can also be arranged at different points on the cushion.
  • FIG. 2 shows the positioning pillow according to the invention when the forearm is resting.
  • the embodiment shows two fastening elements 9b, approximately 7x18 cm, which are firmly connected at the edge 8 of the cover 7 by multiple seams to the side seam.
  • the fastening elements 9b have a Velcro fastener 11 at their ends (about 1.5 cm wide and 10 cm long). Starting approx. 2 cm from the end of the tape, the Velcro fastener is arranged so that the Velcro side is on the upper side on one tape and the Velcro side on the lower side on the other tape.
  • the tapes can be attached to one another both on the underside and on the top 2 of the cushion or cover 7.
  • the edge area at which the fastening elements 9b are sewn to the cover 7 is approximately 30 cm from the front end of the front side 6a.
  • the fastening elements 9b at the border from the front to the middle third of the cushion - from the direction of the front 6a - or the cover 7 on the inside 1a and outside 1b can be sewn into the side seams so that they fit snugly when folded over the cushion lie on top of each other.
  • the fastening elements 9b can also be designed as a binding variant.
  • the positioning cushion is adapted to the length of the user's forearm, the hand protrudes slightly beyond the front side 6a of the positioning cushion and its upper side 2 or the end members of the fingers grip the front side 6a of the positioning cushion.
  • FIGs 3 and 4th show two plastic representations of the positioning cushion according to the invention, in which the recess 3 in the center and the beads 5a and 5b delimiting it on both sides can be seen.
  • the Velcro 11 can also be seen.
