Definitions

  • the invention relates to a writing instrument and in particular to a ballpoint pen according to the preamble of patent claim 1.
  • Ballpoint pens usually contain a housing, a writing medium spring-loaded therein, for example a writing refill or a large-capacity refill, and an adjustment mechanism.
  • Ballpoint pens have an operating unit on one operating side, with the ballpoint pen being able to be actuated either by a pushbutton arranged on the operating unit or by rotating the operating unit itself.
  • a rotatable control unit it usually locks into a first or a second control position after it has been actuated, depending on the direction of rotation.
  • the writing lead In the first operating position, the writing lead is in a writing position that is pushed forward out of the housing, so that the tip of the writing material protrudes from the housing.
  • the writing means In a second operating position, the writing means is in a retracted storage position in the housing, in which the writing means is completely removed from the housing is recorded. Ballpoint pens of this type are described in detail in the prior art.
  • U.S. 2,624,314 describes, for example, a ballpoint pen with a retractable writing refill that can be operated via a control button.
  • a control button When the operating button is pressed down, an adjustment mechanism is locked in place so that the tip of a writing medium protrudes from the housing. Pressing it down again releases the locking mechanism of the adjustment mechanism and the writing material is pushed into a retracted storage position by a spring.
  • DE 103 32 844 describes a hand-held writing instrument that has both a writing refill and a stylus.
  • Rotation of a rear housing member actuates a displacement mechanism that longitudinally advances a writing lead while simultaneously longitudinally displacing a stylus to a retracted storage position.
  • Rotating the rear housing member in an opposite direction advances the stylus longitudinally axially while simultaneously shifting the refill to a retracted storage position.
  • a cam pin for moving the writing lead and another cam pin for moving the input pen are mechanically connected to a cam sleeve with slot-shaped guide curves.
  • the slit-shaped guide curves of the curve sleeve are arranged one above the other and run helically in opposite directions. Both the input pen and the writing lead are in a retracted storage position in the housing between a first and a second operating position.
  • JP H07 237394A shows a pen with a rotatable cap, which is connected to a coupling member and this via a pin with a cam cylinder, which is used to move the writing lead.
  • EP 0 496 944 A1 discloses a writing implement with a conventional twist mechanism of a ballpoint pen, which is designed to use a twist mechanism of a pencil.
  • a blocking part is used for this purpose, which can be brought into a release position and a blocking position and, in the blocking position, limits the rotation of an actuating element to a specific area of a guide curve.
  • the operating unit remains in the controlled operating position at the rear end of the housing.
  • This can be disadvantageous, particularly in the case of valuable writing implements with imprints on the housing, high-quality decorations or complex engravings, since the locking of the twisted housing halves in an operating position means that the pattern on the writing implement is no longer consistent, which can adversely change the overall appearance of the writing implement .
  • a writing instrument having a housing for receiving a writing lead along a longitudinal axis, an operating side and a writing side, an adjustment mechanism mounted in the housing with a guide sleeve and a curved pin arranged concentrically therein and spring-loaded along the longitudinal axis on the writing lead, which has a The end of the writing lead can be brought into engagement, with the cam pin being able to be brought into at least two detent positions offset from one another along the longitudinal axis.
  • the writing instrument also has a control arrangement with a reset device, a freewheel, with an operating unit arranged on the operating side can be coupled and a cam sleeve that can be coupled with the freewheel.
  • the cam sleeve has a sliding surface curved on one side for a contact surface of the cam pin.
  • the contact surface can be designed in the form of a projection.
  • the resetting device exerts a reverse turning force on the operating unit.
  • the freewheel is a first rotatably mounted body with a circumferential recess and is at least partially operatively connected to a second concentrically rotatably mounted body.
  • One of the first and second rotatably mounted bodies is freely rotatable about an angular range about its longitudinal axis and, outside this angular range, transmits a rotation from the operating unit to the cam sleeve.
  • the writing implement consequently differs from known writing implements and in particular ballpoint pens with a rotary mechanism in terms of the control arrangement, which has the reset device, the freewheel and the cam sleeve.
  • the control arrangement makes it possible to bring the operating unit back into a neutral position after the actuation and locking of the writing cartridge, without changing the set position of the writing cartridge. Due to the resetting device, a restoring force acts on the operating unit, which resets the operating unit to its original position after it has been actuated.
  • the cam sleeve is a device that converts a rotary movement initiated by the operating unit into an axial movement.
  • the cam sleeve can thus move the cam pin and thus the writing lead in the axial direction, with the cam pin having at least one contact surface for this purpose, preferably in the form of a projection, which is guided on the sliding surface.
  • the curved sleeve preferably has a helical shape with locking recesses that are offset longitudinally and axially, which have a sliding surface that is curved on one side are connected to each other.
  • the locking recesses are suitable for accommodating a projection of the cam pin, which is guided along the sliding surfaces.
  • the freewheel can selectively allow or prevent a transmission of torque between the operating unit and the cam sleeve. At the same time, this makes it possible to prevent the writing refill from moving from its extended or retracted position into the respective other position when the operating unit is rotated back into a neutral position.
  • the realization of the freewheel should preferably be carried out in such a way that a reliable transmission of torque takes place, but at the same time a high return accuracy of the operating unit is achieved.
  • the freewheel preferably has an elongate, cylindrical shape with a recess that extends over part of the circumference.
  • the recess can be shaped differently and can extend over the entire longitudinal axis of the freewheel or only in one or more partial areas of the freewheel.
  • the recess of the freewheel is preferably suitable for accommodating a second body that is mounted concentrically so that it can rotate. This preferably has an elongated, web-like projection with at least a first contact surface and a second contact surface and is integrated into the inner side of the housing of the operating unit.
  • the freewheel When the second rotatably mounted body rotates beyond the angular range of the recess of the freewheel, the freewheel is carried along by the projection of the second rotatably mounted body through surface contact between the recess and the second contact surface of the projection of the second body and together with this around the Longitudinal rotated.
  • the second rotatably mounted body can rotate freely within the angular range of the recess of the freewheel.
  • the second rotatably mounted body may have other shapes, such as a short, compact projection.
  • the recess can be integrated into the inside of the housing of the operating unit and the freewheel can have a protruding body instead of a recess, preferably in the form of a projection or a web, and thus be based on a kinematic reversal.
  • the position of the operating unit is always the same regardless of the locking position of the writing cartridge, so that any decorations or patterns on the outside of the housing of the writing instrument and thus the overall appearance of the writing instrument are not disturbed.
  • the restoring device has a spring mechanism in which a spring force acts on the operating unit and resets it to an original base or neutral position.
  • the restoring force can be realized by leaf springs, coil springs, magnets, rubber elements or the like. The forces resulting from the spring mechanism can act both parallel to the longitudinal axis and transverse to it.
  • the restoring device has a cam bushing and a second body which can be rotated concentrically thereto and which rotate the operating unit back into a neutral position after it has been actuated.
  • the cam bushing or the second concentrically rotatable body is spring-loaded.
  • the second body, which can be rotated concentrically to the cam bushing can be designed, among other things, as a separate projection.
  • a further possibility is the combination of the second concentrically rotatably mounted body of the freewheel and the second concentrically rotatably mounted body of the restoring device in the form of a common, elongated or bar-shaped body with a first and a second contact surface.
  • the operating unit is preferably implemented in the form of a cap or a non-removable component resembling a cap, which is arranged on the operating side of the writing implement.
  • the cam bushing is integrated into the housing in a rotationally fixed manner and is displaceable along the longitudinal axis.
  • a force acting parallel to the longitudinal axis, preferably in the form of the second concentrically rotatable body, is inclined planes of the cam bushing are directed to the operating unit and causes an axially acting force.
  • the cam bushing can have a projection which can be arranged in a preferably elongated recess in the form of a slot and can be displaced longitudinally and axially in this recess. A rotary movement of the cam bushing can thus be prevented.
  • the cam bushing can also have an elongate shaped recess, in which a longitudinally axially displaceable body can be arranged.
  • the non-rotatable curved socket allows for a particularly compact design of the writing instrument.
  • the guide sleeve has a first sliding surface in the form of a recess, for example in the form of a first slot, and the cam bushing has a projection shaped to correspond to the recess.
  • the guide sleeve forms a slide rail along the longitudinal axis, in which the projection of the cam bushing engages and along which the cam bushing can slide. This allows the cam bushing to slide along the guide sleeve without twisting, so that trouble-free power transmission is guaranteed.
  • the guide sleeve has a second sliding surface in the form of a second recess, for example in the form of a second slot for receiving a projection of the cam pin. Due to the second recess and the protrusion of the cam pin mounted in it so that it can be displaced longitudinally axially, the cam pin is secured against rotation but is arranged so that it can be displaced longitudinally axially in the housing.
  • the first and the second recess of the guide sleeve can be part of the guide sleeve both individually and together, but they do not necessarily have to be integrated together in the guide sleeve.
  • the cam bushing has a sliding surface for a first contact surface of the second, preferably elongate, body that is rotatably mounted concentrically thereto.
  • the second body, which is mounted rotatably concentrically to the cam bushing is preferably designed in the form of a web which is integrated in the operating unit, in particular a cap or a similar component.
  • the web can be designed in such a way that it enters into an operative connection in the form of a linear or planar contact with the cam bushing and also with the freewheel.
  • the projections as individual projecting bodies.
  • the sliding surface of the cam bushing can be straight, curved or the like, as required. This enables an individual and/or particularly space-saving possibility of power transmission.
  • the cam bushing has two inclined planes running towards one another.
  • the inclined planes can have the same or different lengths. Running towards one another, they form a common lowest point, which at the same time corresponds to the neutral position of the writing instrument.
  • the cam bush is straight on the opposite side of the inclined plane and is therefore suitable as a contact surface for a spring mechanism. Due to the spring force acting on the underside of the cam bushing, a force is transmitted to the sliding surfaces of the cam bushing, which in turn is transmitted to the second rotatably mounted body and pushes it into the common lowest point of the inclined planes of the cam bushing, i.e. into the neutral position of the writing instrument .
  • the first rotatably mounted body of the freewheel has a non-rotatable connection with the peripheral recess with the cam sleeve.
  • the cam sleeve has a detent arranged on an outer surface on the side of the cam sleeve opposite the sliding surfaces.
  • the first rotatably mounted body of the freewheel has a corresponding internal detent.
  • the rotatably mounted body of the freewheel with the peripheral recess has an elastic connection to the cam sleeve.
  • the cam sleeve and the rotatably mounted body of the freewheel are connected by an elastic component, preferably made of a flexible or rubber-like material such as elastomers. Due to the slightly elastic connection of the rotatably mounted body of the freewheel and the cam sleeve, the power transmission is somewhat delayed when turning the control element, so that the user also feels a slight resistance before activating the writing instrument.
  • the rotatably mounted body of the freewheel has a protruding second contact surface and the second rotatably mounted body has a corresponding recess.
  • the protruding second contact surface of the freewheel and the recess of the second rotatable body correspond to one another, so that both components enter into an operative connection with one another if the protruding second contact surface is rotated beyond the angular range of the recess.
  • the second contact surface of the second rotatably mounted body is in the form of a web on the inside of the control unit up.
  • the second rotatably mounted body corresponds to the recess of the rotatably mounted body of the freewheel.
  • the web-shaped second body also serves to transmit force to the sliding surface of the cam bushing.
  • the neutral position of the operating unit is arranged in the angular area of the recess of the freewheel.
  • the second rotatably mounted body can be rotated freely without influencing the control arrangement or the restoring device.
  • the operating unit is designed as a rotating element, an actuating button, a rocker arm or a slide.
  • the various actuation options can be varied. With the writing implement according to the invention, the various actuation variations can be reset to an original neutral position after the writing implement has been actuated.
