Definitions

  • the invention relates to a golf club according to the preamble of claim 1.
  • the phenomenon "Yips” occurs especially among golfers. This includes sudden, involuntary, jerky muscle twitches, which occur particularly when putting. These muscle twitches occur just before the club head hits the ball. As a result, the ball takes a direction other than the intended one. Since the golf player cannot influence the muscle twitching, this phenomenon places a considerable burden on the golf player.
  • the US 5,538,476 A shows a shaft of a golf club that allows some axial rotation, comprising a lower and an upper shaft component, wherein the upper shaft component is rotatably received within the lower shaft component and an elastomeric handle is attached over the upper and lower shaft component.
  • the object of the invention is to design the generic golf club in such a way that such unwanted, jerky muscle twitches do not have an adverse effect on putting.
  • the handle has at least two handle parts.
  • One grip part which is gripped by the hand affected by the muscle twitching, can be twisted around the shaft axis to a limited extent with respect to the other grip part and the shaft. This affects the unwanted muscle movements this hand does not aim for accuracy when putting.
  • the muscle twitches are absorbed by twisting this grip part accordingly.
  • the other part of the handle which is not gripped by the hand that is not affected by the muscle twitching, can reliably execute the blow.
  • the golf club according to the invention enables the player to achieve a high degree of putting despite the Yips phenomenon.
  • the two handle parts are connected to one another by at least one torsion damper.
  • One grip part is rigidly connected to the shaft, while the other grip part can be twisted to a limited extent.
  • the torsion damper allows the torsion of one handle part.
  • the lower part of the handle sits on the shaft with a hard bearing layer. It enables in a simple manner that the lower grip part can be rotated to a limited extent with respect to the shaft in order to absorb the golf player's unwanted jerky muscle twitches.
  • the bearing layer is advantageously formed by a sleeve which is fastened in the lower grip part.
  • This sleeve can consist of metal, but also of a hard plastic.
  • the two handle parts are integrally formed with each other.
  • the torsion damper is formed by a torsionally soft area between the two handle parts. Via this torsionally soft area, one grip part can be twisted or rotated to a limited extent with respect to the other grip part and the shaft.
  • a grip sleeve made of elastic material is advantageously used as the grip.
  • the grip sleeve is an inexpensive component that can also be easily mounted on the shaft of the golf club.
  • the torsionally soft area can be created simply by forming the handle with a material weakening that forms the torsionally soft area.
  • one grip part of the grip sleeve is fastened in a rotationally fixed manner on the shaft, while the second grip part is arranged on the shaft so that it can be rotated to a limited extent. If this second grip part is rotated to a limited extent about the axis of the shaft due to the unwanted muscle movements of the golf player, then the jacket section of the grip sleeve located between the two grip parts is twisted elastically. This jacket section is provided so that it is not directly connected to the shaft of the golf club, so that it can carry out the evasive movements by elastic twisting. Due to the elasticity, the second part of the handle is turned back to its starting position as soon as the muscle movements stop.
  • At least the lower handle part consists of a material which is harder to form the bearing layer than in the surrounding area.
  • a material is, for example, a suitable plastic with which at least the lower handle part of the handle can be manufactured in such a way that it is hard in the contact area on the shaft, but soft in the remaining area. Then the hard plastic layer ensures the limited rotatability of the lower handle part relative to the shaft, while the outer softer plastic part contributes to the good grip of the lower handle part.
  • the golf club has a handle 1 at the upper end and a club head (not shown) at the lower end.
  • the club head is connected to the handle 1 via a shaft 2, which usually consists of steel or carbon fiber reinforced plastic.
  • the handle 1 consists of an upper handle part 1a and a lower handle part 1b.
  • the two handle parts 1a, 1b are designed such that the lower handle part 1b can carry out limited torsional movements relative to the shaft 2 and to the upper handle part 1a.
  • the lower handle part 1b can be rotated, for example, by an angle of +/- 5 ° about the axis of the shaft 2.
  • the upper grip part 1 a is connected to the shaft 2 in a rotationally fixed manner, for example glued to it or in another manner connected to it in a rotationally fixed manner.
  • the lower handle part 1b is separated from the upper handle part 1a by a torsion damper 3.
  • the torsion damper 3 ( 2 and 3 ) has an outer ring 4 and an inner ring 5.
  • the inner ring 5 of the torsion damper 3 surrounds the shaft 2 with play ( Fig. 1 ).
  • Both rings 4, 5 are connected to one another by webs 6.
  • the two rings 4, 5 are circular and are arranged coaxially to one another. Cavities 7 are formed between the webs 6 and the rings 4, 5, which axially penetrate the torsion damper 3.
  • the torsion damper 3 is designed such that it has a flat top 8 and a flat bottom 9.
  • the lower handle part 1b lies flat on the flat underside 9 and is firmly connected to the torsion damper by gluing or also by plastic welding.
  • the upper handle part 1a is on the flat top 8 of the torsion damper 3 also by gluing or by plastic welding firmly connected.
  • the torsion damper 3 has a smaller outer diameter than the two handle parts 1a, 1b.
  • the torsion damper 3 can also have the same outer diameter as the handle parts 1a, 1b.
  • the lower handle part 1b can perform limited torsional movements about the axis of the shaft 2, the lower handle part 1b is seated on the shaft 2 with at least one slide bearing 10 Handle part 1b rotates limitedly on the shaft 2.
  • the two slide bearings 10, 11 each lie in an annular recess 12, 13, which are arranged in the inner wall 14 of a through opening 15 of the lower handle part 1b.
  • the depression 12 is open in the direction of the torsion damper 3.
  • the slide bearings 10, 11 ensure that the lower grip part 1b is mounted on the shaft 2 without torsional force.
  • the slide bearings 10, 11 can be formed by a suitable plastic, which can be connected to the shaft 2 and allows a limited torsion of the lower handle part 1b.
  • the lower grip part 1b is except for the slide bearings 10, 11 without connection to the shaft, i. H. the shaft 2 passes through the central through opening 15 with play.
  • the two grip parts 1a, 1b can consist of a material suitable for such golf club grips.
  • the muscle twitching of the right hand does not affect the direction of putting.
  • the muscle twitches are absorbed by the lower handle part 1b, in that it can be twisted around the axis of the shaft 2 in a manner corresponding to the muscle twitches. Since the lower grip part 1b is mounted on the shaft 2 via the slide bearings 10, 11, the muscle twitches have no effect on the putting direction determined by the player's left hand. He can therefore hit the ball exactly when putting in the direction of the hole.
  • the left hand grips the lower handle part 1b, while the right hand 1a encompasses the upper handle part 1a.
  • the torsion damper 3 is designed so that the damping can be adjusted depending on the strength and effect of the muscle twitches.
  • the torsion damper 3 consists, for example, of a rubber mixture.
  • the degree of damping can be adjusted by selecting the degree of hardness.
  • the number of connecting webs 6 and / or the width of connecting webs 6 and / or the height of torsion damper 3 also contributes to damping.
  • the golf club can be optimally adapted to the muscle twitches of the respective player.
  • a torsion damper 3 is first used, which is advantageously connected to the upper and lower handle parts 1a, 1b with foil magnets.
  • the suitable torsion damper 3 can thus be determined very easily.
  • the corresponding torsion damper 3 is firmly connected to the two handle parts 1a, 1b. In this way, the optimal damping on the golf club 1 can be found very easily.
  • the 4 to 6 show another example of a golf club.
  • the handle 1 consists of an upper handle part 1a and a lower handle part 1b.
  • the upper handle part 1 a sits firmly on the shaft 2, which also passes axially through the lower handle part 1 b.
  • the upper handle part 1a is designed like a conventional racket handle and has, for example, a non-circular outline ( Fig. 5 ).
  • the upper grip part 1a has an axial through opening 16, into which the shaft 2 projects.
  • the upper handle part 1a is suitably firmly connected to the shaft 2.
  • the upper handle part 1a is provided on its outside with a thumb rest 17.
  • the lower handle part 1b has a stable outer shell 18 ( Fig. 6 ) surrounding a sleeve 19 made of a hard material, preferably polyethylene or polyamide.
  • the sleeve 19 is connected to the outer shell 18 by webs 20.
  • the webs 20 are separated from one another by spaces 21.
  • the webs 20 are made of soft plastic, such as corresponding elastomers, rubber or rubber compounds. It is firmly connected to the outside of the sleeve 19 and to the inside of the outer shell 18.
  • the dimensionally stable sleeve 19 is firmly seated on the shaft 2.
  • the webs 20 made of soft plastic permit a limited torsion of the lower handle part 1 b about the axis of the shaft 2.
  • the torsion angle range can be, for example, approximately +/- 5 °.
  • the two handle parts 1a, 1b are integrally formed with one another.
  • the transition region 33 between the two handle parts 1a, 1b in this case has a smaller wall thickness than the two handle parts 1a, 1b. So that the lower handle part 1b can be twisted in an optimally limited manner with respect to the shaft 2, the transition region 33 is preferably designed in a wave-like manner over the circumference of the handle 1.
  • Fig. 7 shows an embodiment of a golf club according to the invention, in which the handle 1 is integrally formed.
  • the handle 1 is formed by a handle sleeve made of plastic, which is attached to the shaft 2 identified by the axis.
  • the area of this grip sleeve forming the grip part 1 a is firmly connected to the shaft 2, for example glued to it.
  • the part of the grip sleeve forming the grip part 1b is arranged on the shaft 2 to be rotatable to a limited extent. This can be achieved, for example, in that this grip sleeve region 1b is fastened on a sleeve 34, which is mounted on the shaft 2 so that it can be rotated to a limited extent.
  • the transition region 33 between the two handle parts 1a, 1b is formed by a part of the jacket of the handle sleeve 1 which is reduced in thickness and which consists of the elastic plastic. Therefore, if the grip part 1b is slightly rotated relative to the shaft 2 due to the twitching movements of the golf player's guide hand, the transition region 33 is correspondingly elastically deformed by a torsional movement. As a result, the muscle twitch movement does not affect the putting direction.
  • the transition region 33 forms the torsionally soft region with which the unwanted torsional movements of the guide hand are absorbed by the transition region 33 being elastically deformed in accordance with the extent of the torsional movements and in this way absorbing the muscle twitching movements.
  • the transition region 33 has a reduced wall thickness
  • the lower handle part 1b can be rotated to a limited extent with respect to the shaft 2 and the upper handle part 1a by elastic twisting.
  • the torsion angle range can be approximately ⁇ 5 °, for example.
  • the sleeve 34 is made of a hard material, for example metal or a hard plastic.
  • the grip sleeve 1 or its lower grip part 1b is suitably firmly connected to the sleeve 34.
  • the inner diameter of the sleeve 34 advantageously corresponds to the inner diameter of the upper handle part 1a.
  • the lower handle part 1b is also possible to produce the lower handle part 1b from two different hard materials.
  • the area of the lower handle part 1b which rests against the shaft 2 consists of a correspondingly hard material, preferably of a corresponding hard plastic. This hard area can be made thin, since it is only intended to enable the lower handle part 1b to perform the limited rotational movement about the axis of the shaft 2.
  • the remaining part of the lower handle part 1b can consist of a handle-friendly, softer material, in particular softer plastic.
  • the grip sleeves 1 are commercially available components which consist of a multicompound. These grip sleeves are inexpensive to purchase and, if they are attached to the shaft 2 of the golf club in the manner described, can excellently absorb the unwanted muscle twitching movements of the golf player without impairing the accuracy when putting.
  • the lower handle part 1b always returns to its starting position as soon as the unwanted muscle movements stop.
