Definitions
- the invention relates to a slip ring assembly for transmitting electrical signals by means of sliding contacts between mutually rotatable parts.
- a sliding track made of electrically conductive material
- at least one sliding contact also called a brush, grinds from a likewise electrically conductive material. Due to the galvanic contact between the sliding tracks and contact electrical current can be transmitted.
- the EP 0 662 736 A discloses a slip ring assembly in which a multi-wire brush runs in a V-groove. This results in the parallel connection of several contacts a low contact resistance.
- the contact pairings i. the outer metal layers of the brushes and the sliding tracks made of electrically highly conductive and abrasion resistant materials.
- Preference is given to using gold-based layers. Nevertheless, it often comes after longer periods of operation to a wear of brushes and / or slideways. If the gold layer of a grinding path is damaged, the brush runs on the underlying layer, which for example comprises nickel or another similar metal. It comes here immediately to massive contact disturbances and a strong abrasion of the brush. In such an error case often only a complete replacement of brush and sanding path is necessary.
- the invention has for its object to increase the life of slip ring systems to provide slip ring systems with emergency running properties and to allow early wear indicator.
- the invention is based on the combination of different contact materials with different Abriebeigenschaften.
- the brush which may comprise one or more wires, has on its surface, ie on the surface of the one or more wires, a first electrically highly conductive contact material.
- the brush may also consist entirely of this first contact material.
- the brush rests on a corresponding sliding track and can grind along it when moving.
- the slideway comprises at least one upper layer with a second electrically highly conductive contact material. Under this upper layer, a lower layer is arranged with a third electrically good conductive contact material.
- the layers of the second and third contact material have similar good properties in contact with the first contact material and have a low contact resistance. Under this layer may be further layers, such as nickel and / or copper based layers. These layers are preferably applied by electroplating.
- these layers have sliding properties relative to each other.
- the abrasion of the second contact material is greater than that of the first contact material.
- the upper layer of the abrasive web comprising the second contact material wears faster than the brush comprising the first contact material.
- the abrasion of the third contact material is smaller than that of the first contact material.
- the abrasion proceeds from a new brush with a new sanding path as follows: first, the second upper layer contact material wears out, which is the normal life of a slip ring system. After the layer of the second contact material is used up, the brush makes contact with the third contact material of the lower layer. Transmission properties of the slip ring remain in this case, since the third contact material also has good electrical conductivity and good contact properties. As a result, emergency running properties or a significant extension of the service life can be achieved.
- This third contact material of the grinding path is, as already described above, more resistant to abrasion than the first contact material of the brush. Thus, the brush now wears faster than the grinding path.
- the upper layer of the grinding path with the second contact material has a hardness smaller than that of the other two contact materials.
- the brush with the first contact material preferably has a greater hardness than the upper layer of the grinding path with the second contact material and a lower hardness than the lower layer of the grinding path with the third contact material.
- the lower layer of the grinding path with the third contact material preferably has a hardness greater than the other two contact materials.
- the harder lower layer results in a stable layer structure.
- the term hardness is understood to mean the hardness of Rockwell or Brinell or Vickers.
- the lower layer of the grinding path has a relatively smooth surface, in particular with a roughness depth of less than 1 ⁇ m and particularly preferably less than 0.1 ⁇ m. As a result, a particularly abrasion-free sliding of the brush on this layer can be realized.
- the brush is made of solid material from the first contact material. There is then a lot of material available for abrasion, so that there is an extended life.
- the brush has a further layer with a fourth contact material under the layer with the first contact material.
- the fourth contact material is preferably harder than the first contact material, and more preferably harder than the third contact material.
- the life of the slip ring can be further extended.
- the first contact material of the brush has a hardness in the range of HV 270-350.
- the hardness of the second contact material of the grinding path may be in the range of HV 180-220.
- the range of hardness of the third contact material of the grinding path may be in a range of HV 350-420.
- contact materials here always refers to materials which are suitable in mechanical contact with another contact material for the transmission of electrical signals.
- Contact materials preferably have low contact resistance and, for use in slip rings, low contact noise during mechanical movement.
- Contact materials are, for example, gold and / or silver and alloys thereof.
- No contact materials are, for example, steel, which due to its spring properties as the core of a Brush can be used when it is coated with a contact material, or nickel, which is used in the galvanic layer structure of slip rings below a layer of contact material.
- Another aspect of the invention is a method of making a sanding pad for brushing with a brush.
- the brush has a first contact material on the surface.
- FIG. 1 a device according to the invention is shown.
- the brush 10 has a layer 11 of a first contact material.
- the brush may also consist entirely of this first contact material. It runs in a V-shaped groove of the grinding path 30 and abuts against the support points 50, 51 on the grinding path.
- the grinding path 30 has a lower layer 32 with a third contact material and an upper layer 31 with a second contact material.
- the layers of the contact materials are shown clearly enlarged in these figures in order to illustrate the drawings. In fact, typical layer thicknesses are in the range of about 3 microns to 5 microns.
- FIG. 2 a slip ring assembly is shown in general form. On a grinding path 30 at least one brush 10, which is held by a brush holder 20 runs.
- FIG. 3 represented different stages of the drive.
- This shows the FIG. 3a the new condition with fully formed and not written off layers of contact materials 11, 31,32.
- the FIG. 3b shows a worn upper layer 31 with second contact material of the grinding path.
- the slip ring now also wear this layer, so that in Figure 3c shown state.
- the brush has a core of a non-contact material, such as steel, the wear limit has now been reached. If the brush is made of the first contact material, then it can continue to be used.
- FIG. 4 shows a side view of a brush 10 with worn contact material.
- a material defect has been created by grinding on the grinding path. This can be used for wear indication.
- the top layer 31 is removed with the second contact material of the grinding path and a wear limit has not yet been reached. Only when material defects on the brush occur, this rubs in the lower layer 32 of the grinding path. In this state, an exchange or a renewal of the slideway should now take place.

Description
- Beschichtung der Schleifbahn mit einem dritten Kontaktmaterial, welches im Kontakt mit der Bürste einen geringeren Abrieb als die Bürste aufweist;
- In
- In
