Im Stand der Technik sind Verfahren und Vorrichtungen zum Nachschleifen der insbesondere in Warmbandwalzgerüsten eingebauten Walzen bekannt. Durch den Bandkontakt nehmen die Walzen Zunder und andere Aufbackungen an. Diese Verunreinigungen werden beim nächsten Band auf die Oberfläche des zu wickelnden Bandes aufgedrückt. Es kommt so zu Markierungen auf dem fertigen Warmband. Um dieses zu verhindern, werden die Walzen üblicherweise mit einer Polier- bzw. Mit dieser erfindungsgemäßen Anordnung eines schlauchförmigen Druckelementes in Verbindung mit dem in benachbarte Teilsegmente aufgeteilten Polierelement ist es möglich, innerhalb eines kleinen Einbauraums in Längserstreckung eines Bauteils eine gleichmäßige Kraft zum Andrücken des Polierelementes gegen das Bauteil einzuleiten. Vorteil ist die lückenlose Konturanpassung an die Oberfläche des Bauteils in Längsrichtung bei identischen Andruckkräften auch bei Bauteilen mit nicht gradlinigen oder nicht ebenen Oberflächen. Durch die kompakte Baugröße der Poliereinrichtung ist die Nachrüstung in vorhandenen Anlagen flexibel und kostengünstig möglich.
