Definitions
- the invention relates to a multistage turbocompressor having at least one rotor and a housing which compresses a process gas from an inlet pressure at the inlet of a first stage to a final pressure at the outlet of a last stage, wherein at least the first and the last stage at least one gas seal is assigned which seals the passage of a rotor shaft through a wall of the housing or housings against a respective step inlet pressure or step end pressure, the gas seals being connected to at least one barrier gas line by which they are supplied with barrier gas, at least one pressure space on the pressure side of the gas seal the last stage, which seals against the final pressure to the environment, is connected to at least one discharge line, which opens into a pressure sink.
- gas seals In the field of turbocompressors, gas seals, in particular in a tandem arrangement, have the task of sealing shaft passages from the pressure chamber within the housing to the atmosphere.
- the gas seals are non-contact seals and are lubricated with dry filtered seal gas.
- This barrier gas is normally taken from the discharge port of the last stage, which has the highest pressure. Thereafter, it is filtered, possibly heated, and reduced by orifices or throttle valves in the pressure and guided by supply lines to the individual gas seals. Since the stages are regularly increasing in pressure from the first to the last stage, different differential pressures are realized at the individual orifices or throttle valves. The steps are normally sealed against the final pressure behind their impeller.
- turbocompressor If the turbocompressor is driven at the intake limit in its operating map, it promotes a high volume with only a slight increase in pressure. In this case, the differential pressure between the pressure in the discharge nozzle and the final pressure behind the impeller of the last stage of the process (possibly depending on the process of the last two stages) is so small that a sufficient barrier gas supply via the existing aperture or throttle valve settings is no longer possible. In this case, unfiltered, possibly moist process gas can come to the gas seal and damage it.
- the invention is based on the object to provide an improved seal of multi-stage turbocompressors, which prevents exposure to the gas seals with unfiltered process gas.
- the relief of the pressure chamber according to the invention on the pressure side of the gas seal provides in particular Operating conditions, which are characterized by only a small pressure build-up in the multi-stage turbocompressor, for the required pressure difference, to ensure the sealing effect or to ensure an inflow of sealing gas to supply the gas seal through the sealing gas line.
- the discharge line is dimensioned such that the pressure drop achieved in the pressure chamber on the pressure side of the gas seal is sufficient so that sufficient sealing gas flows in and no process gas passes to the gas seal.
- the sizing should be be such that no more sealing gas is consumed than required to achieve the sealing effect and safe operation.
- Preferred as a pressure sink is an introduction into a stage of the turbocompressor, where there is a lower pressure than in the pressure chamber.
- an additional shaft seal is provided between the pressure chamber and a step outlet of the associated stage. This is preferably designed as a labyrinth. This auxiliary shaft seal can cause a required pressure loss, which is needed so that the sealing gas, when it is branched off from the highest pressure stage, the pressure difference, so that it flows into the gas seal.
- a particularly preferred field of application of the invention are turbocompressors in which a plurality of stages at least each have a gas seal, in particular where several stages are provided in different housings, each having a gas seal on a passage of the shaft through a housing wall.
- each connected to the gas seal barrier gas line has a throttle or an adjustment valve by means of which the pending in normal operation sealing gas pressure is adjusted such that the gas seal can fulfill their function properly and the Consumption of sealing gas is simultaneously minimized.
- a certain pressure reserve should be held here in order to pass through expected fluctuations in the operating condition without errors.
- the barrier gas lines of the individual gas seals are connected to a sealing gas inlet or a sealing gas collector.
- this sealing gas supply line between the individual junctions of the sealing gas lines be provided with control valves, which lower the pressure in the downstream sealing gas lines in dependence on the operating state.
- control valves which lower the pressure in the downstream sealing gas lines in dependence on the operating state.
- this use of control valves allows the provision of a reserve, which ensures the reliability of the gas seals in case of need.
- the barrier gas consumption can be minimized and on the other hand, the reliability of the gas seals can be increased.
- a valve can be provided in the discharge lines, which opens when necessary.
- This valve may be formed with a binary positional option, or may be gradually adjustable as a control valve, which also provides the option of adjusting the degree of pressure relief to the actual requirement in a relief requirement while not unduly compromising the efficiency of the overall arrangement.
- a preferred central control can suitably control both the position of the control valves in the sealing gas supply line as well as those of the valves in the discharge line, in particular in dependence on the volume flow in the sealing gas line. For this purpose, it makes sense to measure the volume flow in the barrier gas lines directly or indirectly.
- a reliable measurement can by means of a measuring arrangement to the Throttles or adjusting valves are made in the sealing gas lines, which determine the local pressure difference, which allow a clear inference to the flow rate.
- the control opens the control valve or the control valves in the sealing gas supply line when the measure of the volume flow through the sealing gas line of at least one gas seal falls below a first volume flow limit.
- the control opens the valves in the relief lines collectively or individually, if at the respective measuring point in the sealing gas line too low a volume flow is detected or at least one measuring point in a barrier gas line too low a flow rate is detected.
- the regulations for the control valves in the sealing gas supply line and for the valves in the discharge lines do not influence each other, it is useful if the bioregelnden setpoints for the pressure difference across the orifices or the measure of the flow in terms of control of the control valves and the valves have a minimum distance from each other.
- FIG. 1 shows a multi-stage turbocompressor TC comprising six stages ST1 to ST6.
- Process gas PG enters each stage ST1 to ST6, where it is compressed from an inlet pressure p1 to p6 to a respective outlet pressure p2 to p7.
- the individual stages ST1 to ST6 each have a rotor R, on which is arranged an impeller of a step ST1 to ST6, each designed as a radial compressor.
- the stages are each surrounded by a housing C, through the housing wall, the shaft of the rotor R is passed for the purpose of connection to the drive, not shown.
- a gas seal DGS1 to DGS6 is provided, which seals the respective stage end pressure p2 to p7 from the environment.
- the gas seal DGS1 to DGS6 is each formed as a dry gas seal and is supplied with a sealing gas SG by means of a sealing gas line SGL 1 to SGL6.
- the gas seals DGS1 to DGS6 are each provided in a tandem arrangement, wherein on the pressure side, between the two individual seals of the tandem arrangement of the gas seal DGS1 to DGS6 and on the surrounding side additionally a labyrinth seal LS is provided.
- the two sealing elements of the gas seals DGS1 to DGS6 each have a sealing plane which is not designated in detail and runs in the radial direction.
- the purge gas is withdrawn from the exit EX at the last stage ST6 and, after passing through a filter FI and a heater HAT, is introduced into a purge gas supply SGC.
- the purge gas supply line SGC feeds the treated purge gas SG into the connected purge gas lines SGL1 to SGL6 to supply the gas seals DGS1 to DGS6.
- the barrier gas lines SGL1 to SGL 6 are provided with individual throttles TH1 to TH6, one at the respective pressure of the stage ST1 to ST6 in the gas seal DGS1 to provide DGS6 adapted barrier gas pressure.
- the last stage ST6 has a separate pressure space PR in front of the gas seal DGS6, which is separated from the stage end pressure p7 by an additional rotor seal ARS, which is designed as a labyrinth seal LS.
- the differential pressure released in the auxiliary shaft seal ARS can be increased by opening a valve CV2 in a relief line RL which connects the pressure chamber PR to a pressure sink - in this case entering the stage ST6 with the pressure p6 of the inlet, which is below the pressure p7 of the outlet EX is.
- the area of the opening of the purge gas lines SGL4 to SGL6 associated with the fourth, fifth and sixth stages ST4 to ST6 is disconnected from the remaining area of the purge gas supply SGC by means of a control valve CV12.
- Another control valve CV11 separates the barrier gas conduits SGL1 to SGL3 for the first, second and third stages ST1 to ST3 from the purge gas supply SGC.
- the two control valves CV11, CV12 in the sealing gas supply SGC allow a demand-based reduction of the pressure before the throttles TH1 to TH6, the first, second and third stages ST1 to ST3 and the fourth, fifth and sixth stages ST4 to ST6 adapted to different operating conditions.
- a measurement of the differential pressure pdt1, pdt2, a third stage and a sixth stage via the local throttle TH3, TH6 in the barrier gas line SGL3, SGL6 is used as a measure of the local volume flow at a control CR transmitted.
- This control CR controls the control valves CV11, CV12 such that a first volume flow limit VL1, VL2 is not undershot. If the pressure reserve in the sealing gas supply line SGC does not allow an additional increase in the pressure of the sealing gas SG behind the control valves CV11, CV12, the control CR additionally opens the valve CV2 to the pressure chamber PR on the pressure side of the gas seal DGS6 last stage ST6 by means of the discharge line RL to relieve.
