Claims (9)
- Procédé pour fabriquer un dispositif d'affichage à cristaux liquides comprenant les étapes suivantes :former un premier film de matériau d'orientation homéotrope sur une surface d'un premier substrat, le matériau étant sensible à des rayons ultraviolets et ayant une propriété d'orientation de molécules de cristaux liquides, en moyenne, verticalement par rapport à une surface du premier film ; etappliquer des rayons ultraviolets, polarisés de façon linéaire ou elliptique, au premier film suivant une direction d'incidence inclinée par rapport à la normale à la surface du premier film ;former un deuxième film de matériau d'orientation homéotrope sur une surface d'un deuxième substrat, le matériau étant sensible à des rayons ultraviolets et ayant une propriété d'orientation de molécules de cristaux liquides, en moyenne, verticalement par rapport à une surface du deuxième film ; etappliquer des rayons ultraviolets, polarisés de façon linéaire ou elliptique, au deuxième film suivant une direction d'incidence inclinée par rapport à la normale à la surface du deuxième film ;disposer les premier et deuxième substrats de façon à ce qu'ils soient orientés face à face sorte que lés directions d'incidence vers les premier et deuxième films soit réglées parallèles dans des directions opposées entre elles ; etfournir des molécules de cristaux liquides ayant une anisotropie diélectrique négative entre les premier et deuxième substrats orientés face à face ;dans lequel :une direction du vecteur électrique des rayons ultraviolets polarisés de façon linéaire ou une direction de l'axe le plus long du vecteur électrique des rayons ultraviolets polarisés de façon elliptique est dans un plan défini par une direction respective normale par rapport aux premier et deuxième substrats et la direction d'incidence vers les premier et deuxième film, respectivement ;les molécules de cristaux liquides prévues entre les premier et deuxième substrats orientés face à face sont inclinées en s'écartant de la direction normale au premier substrat en direction de la direction d'incidence vers le premier film, et en s'écartant de la direction normale par rapport au deuxième substrat en direction de la direction d'incidence vers le deuxième film, respectivement, avec un angle de pré-inclinaison.
- Procédé selon la revendication 1, dans lequel le matériau d'orientation homéotrope est un matériau contenant du polyimide.
- Procédé selon la revendication 1, dans lequel le matériau d'orientation homéotrope comporte un couplage silane.
- Procédé selon la revendication 2, dans lequel le matériau d'orientation homéotrope contenant du polyimide comporte des chaînes latérales.
- Procédé selon l'une quelconque des revendications 1 à 4, dans lequel la direction inclinée par rapport à la normale à la surface du film est comprise entre 5 degrés et 85 degrés par rapport à la normale à la surface du film.
- Procédé selon la revendication 5, dans lequel la direction inclinée par rapport à la normale est dans une plage comprise entre 30 degrés et 70 degrés.
- Procédé selon l'une quelconque des revendications 1 à 6, dans lequel l'étape consistant à appliquer au premier film des rayons ultraviolets polarisés de façon linéaire ou elliptique comprend les sous-étapes suivantes :appliquer des rayons ultraviolets polarisés de façon linéaire ou elliptique à une première région du premier film à travers un premier masque suivant une première direction, etappliquer des rayons ultraviolets polarisés de façon linéaire ou elliptique à une deuxième région du premier film à travers un deuxième masque ayant un motif complémentaire au premier masque suivant une deuxième direction tournée de 90 degrés dans le plan du substrat par rapport à la première direction ;et dans lequel l'étape consistant à appliquer au deuxième film des rayons ultraviolets polarisés de façon linéaire ou elliptique comprend les sous-étapes suivantes :appliquer des rayons ultraviolets polarisés de façon linéaire ou elliptique à une troisième région du deuxième film à travers un troisième masque suivant une troisième direction, etappliquer des rayons ultraviolets polarisés de façon linéaire ou elliptique à une quatrième région du deuxième film à travers un quatrième masque ayant un motif complémentaire au troisième masque suivant une quatrième direction tournée de 90 degrés dans le plan du substrat par rapport à la troisième direction ;dans lequel, dans l'étape consistant à disposer les premier et deuxième substrats de façon à ce qu'ils soient orientés face à face, les premier et deuxième substrats sont disposés de telle sorte que la première région du premier film et la troisième région du deuxième film soient orientées face à face, et la deuxième région du premier film et la quatrième région du deuxième film soient orientées face à face.
- Procédé selon l'une quelconque des revendications 1 à 7, dans lequel l'angle de pré-inclinaison ne devient pas coïncident avec un angle de la direction d'incidence des rayons ultraviolets.
- Procédé selon la revendication 7 ou 8, dans lequel le dispositif d'affichage à cristaux liquides comprend une pluralité de pixels, chacun des pixels étant constitué de deux, quatre, ou plus, micro-domaines.
