If the external function module needs power the tachograph could also have an interface PDTG1 for power connection to an external function module EFM1. This could be power for feeding the external function module or power for charging a power source in the external function module. This could be by wire or by wireless connection (inductive).
- the external function module could also control a printer and/or a user interface, e.g. display or buttons, on the tachograph. For example, if an external function needs to print out some data, it could then use the already existing printer on the tachograph.

- Fig 2 illustrates an external function module EFM3. It comprises a data interface IFDT1 for connection to a tachograph DTG2. It also comprises basic hardware HW and software SW. HW and SW could be configurable so that they can be adapted to demands from customers.

- a wire connected to the EFM4 could be made flat and flexible so it can go trough the paper slit and be attached to the front contact of a digital tachograph.

- the paper roll has to be taken out of the paper holder for the described solution to work.
- One way to be able to keep the paper roll in the paper holder is to put the external function module EFM6 in the middle of the paper roll, fig 3c .

- This connector could be a special additional connector which can be used as an interface between tachograph and the external function module.
- the front connector is placed in the cavity for the paper holder and could preferably be used as interface between tachograph and EFM to get total integration.

Claims (6)
- Tachygraphe adapté pour être connecté à un module de fonction externe amovible, le tachygraphe comprenant :- un boîtier de protection sécurisé (PTC),- au moins une interface de module de fonction filaire ou sans fil (IFFM1) pour une communication sécurisée de données entre le tachygraphe et une interface de données de tachygraphe d'un module de fonction externe connecté (EFM1, EFM2, EFM3), ledit module de fonction externe comprenant au moins une fonction (EF1, EF2, EF3)dans lequel le tachygraphe comprend :- des moyens (RECEFM) pour reconnaître différents types de fonctions dudit module de fonction externe connecté, des moyens (AEFM) pour s'adapter à l'utilisation de types reconnus de fonctions dudit module de fonction externe connecté, dans lequella reconnaissance des fonctions et/ou l'adaptation du tachygraphe est réalisée, au moins en partie, automatiquement lorsque ledit module de fonction externe est connecté au tachygraphe, dans lequel l'interface de module de fonction comprend une interface mécanique consistant en au moins une cavité ou au moins un évidement situé à l'extérieur du boîtier de protection sécurisé, dans lequel la cavité ou l'évidement est configuré(e) pour que le module de fonction externe y soit placé, et dans lequel le tachygraphe est configuré pour reconnaître et utiliser au moins l'une des fonctions suivantes comprises dans ledit module de fonction externe connecté :- fonction GPS- paiement d'accès à une zone- fonction d'unité arithmétique, dans laquelle la fonction externe est utilisée pour des calculs, par exemple des calculs de limites de temps pour le temps de conduite- fonctions de téléphone portable- informations sur la cargaison- capteur de mouvement- enregistreur de crash/événement- processeur et mémoire programmables par un utilisateur pour des fonctions personnalisées- fonctions télématiques pour un téléchargement sans fil de données à partir du tachygraphe ou d'une mémoire de données de conducteur.
- Tachygraphe selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, comprenant une interface d'alimentation de module filaire ou sans fil (PDTG1), pour alimenter ledit module de fonction externe connecté et/ou pour charger une source d'alimentation dans ledit module de fonction externe connecté.
- Tachygraphe selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, qui peut s'adapter à une certaine fonction externe comprise dans ledit module de fonction externe connecté de l'une au moins des manières suivantes :- ajouter un menu supplémentaire, relatif à la fonction externe, dans une interface utilisateur du tachygraphe,- configurer un affichage d'un tachygraphe pour utiliser un champ dans l'affichage pour afficher des données relatives à la fonction externe,- se configurer pour transmettre des données spécifiques à la fonction externe,- se configurer pour recevoir des données de la fonction externe,- se configurer de manière à ce qu'une imprimante d'un tachygraphe puisse être commandée par la fonction externe.
- Module de fonction externe amovible (EFM1-EFM6) configuré pour être connecté à un tachygraphe selon l'une quelconque des revendications 1 à 3, comprenant :- une interface mécanique pour une connexion au tachygraphe, dans lequel le module de fonction externe est configuré pour être placé dans la cavité ou l'évidement à l'extérieur du boîtier du tachygraphe,- une interface de données de tachygraphe (IFTD1) pour une communication sécurisée de données, filaire ou sans fil, avec l'interface de module de fonction du tachygraphe- au moins une fonction (EF11, EF12, EF13) configurée pour être reconnue et utilisée par le tachygraphe, comprenant au moins l'une des suivantes :- fonction GPS- paiement d'accès à une zone- fonction d'unité arithmétique, dans laquelle la fonction externe est utilisée pour des calculs, par exemple des calculs de limites de temps pour le temps de conduite- fonctions de téléphone portable- informations sur la cargaison- capteur de mouvement- enregistreur de crash/événement- processeur et mémoire programmables par un utilisateur pour des fonctions personnalisées- fonctions télématiques pour un téléchargement sans fil de données à partir du tachygraphe ou d'une mémoire de données de conducteur.
- Module de fonction externe selon la revendication 4, comprenant en outre :- une interface d'alimentation (PEFM1) pour recevoir de l'énergie.
- Module de fonction externe selon l'une quelconque des revendications 4 à 5, comprenant une interface utilisateur de module (MUIF), par exemple un affichage.
