Description

  • The invention relates to a process for the production of printed products consisting of at least two single- or multi-sheet printed products and inserted inserts such as book blocks, books, brochures or magazines, in which the printed products and the supplements to form loose book block are optionally collected on a collecting route, along a plurality of feeders are arranged in the collecting section, which supply the printed products and the inserts at regular intervals to the following receiving points of a continuously circulating conveying device.
  • In the production of bound printed products such as book blocks, books, phone books, paperbacks or magazines, different precursors such as printed sheets or single sheets are usually produced in a first operation, which later collected with a gathering machine to loose book block and bound by adhesive binding, wire or thread stitching and possibly with be provided an envelope. In addition, flat products such as reply cards, CD's / DVD's, illustrations or pouches can also be inserted loosely or adhesively into the printed products on pages or sheets during the collation process.
  • Also known are digital printing machines, which are sequentially printed from a roll all pages of a book block, stacked into a loose book block and then bound with a downstream binding device in line. The paper web is usually several times wider than the printed sheets, so that they are longitudinally cut or longitudinally folded after printing into strips to last cut transversely and the resulting printed sheets are folded at best and stacked to form a complete loose book block. Depending on how it is folded or cut, loose book blocks produced in this way consist of individual sheets or folded printed sheets. Alternatively, already cut to size sheets can be printed and stacked in the manner described to loose book block. For feeding inserts between pages of book blocks made in this way, it is known to open the book blocks in loose or bound state with a sword and then to insert inserts into the opening, this method having the disadvantage that the printed products can not be opened on the page or in the exact arch and thus the supplements are not deliverable at the desired location.
  • In the EP 1 559 573 A1 It is proposed to feed a sheet or printed sheet in a printing machine a supplement before stacking, wherein the supplement can rest on the sheet or sheet or with this connection means, such as an adhesive or electrostatic blocking can be connected.   • The invention has for its object to provide a method and an apparatus which a page-accurate feeding of supplements in digital resp. enable sequentially printed book blocks so that the inserts to the print sheets are accurately positionable.

  • The EP1197456 A1 relates to a method and an apparatus for producing folded printed products. For this purpose, a web is printed sequentially by means of at least one digital printing press. This web is then cut into individual sheets which are folded by means of a folder and dropped onto a sword. As soon as a complete booklet has been collected on a sword, it is dropped onto a gathering chain and provided with an envelope by means of a downstream feeder. The feeding of supplements is not provided in this solution. Alternatively, two digital printing machines can be arranged, which in each case produces a group of printed sheets, which are supplied separately to the collecting chain and collected thereon.
  • The object is achieved by the features of claims 1 and 8 according to the invention.

  • Fig. 1 shows a schematic representation of a device for the production of products such as book blocks, books, phone books, paperbacks or magazines or the like. Products that are printed with at least one digital printing machine 1 and then bound. A digital printing machine 1 is understood to mean a printing press which prints page after page of printed products sequentially, the page content being available in the form of electronically stored data.   • Opposite the in Fig. 1 illustrated digital printing machine 1, the digital printing machine 1 in Fig. 2 1, only one stacking device 3 is shown, in which individual partial block stacks 4, 5, 6 are sequentially formed and subsequently distributed to the feeders 12 via the switch 10, the subsequent collecting process taking place analogously to the previously described process.

Claims (10)

  1. Method of producing printed material, such as book blocks, books, brochures or magazines, consisting of at least two single-leaf or multi-leaf printed products, as well as inserts (7, 8), in which the printed products and the inserts (7, 8) may be gathered along a collecting section (14) in order to form loose book blocks (9), a plurality of feeders (12, 19) being arranged along the collecting section (14) and feeding the printed products and the inserts (7, 8) to successive uniformly spaced receiving locations (15) of a continuously circulating conveyor (16), wherein
    • at least one digital press (1) prints pages of the printed products sequentially on to a paper web (2),
    • after printing, the paper web (2) is cut in the longitudinal direction or folded in the longitudinal direction into strips of equal width, the strips are then cut in the transverse direction into sections and the sections are collected into sequentially printed single-sheet and/or partial-block stacks (4, 5, 6) of the book blocks (9) in stacking devices (3),
    • the sequentially printed single-sheet and/or partial-block stacks (4, 5, 6) are fed to the receiving locations (15) of the conveyor (16) along the collecting section (14) by means of at least two feeders (12) connected to the at least one digital press (1),
    • at least two sequentially printed single-sheet and/or partial-block stacks (4, 5, 6) are fed to the conveyor (16) or a receiving location (15) by means of respective feeders (12) in order to form a piece of printed material, and
    • at least one insert (7, 8) is fed to the at least partially formed book block (9) between two sequentially printed single-sheet and/or partial-block stacks (4, 5, 6) by means of respective feeders (19).
  2. Method according to claim 1, characterised in that the sequentially printed partial-block stacks (4, 5, 6) are formed of single sheets and/or folded printed sheets.
  3. Method according to claim 1 or claim 2, characterised in that the sequentially printed single-sheet and/or partial-block stacks (4, 5, 6) are fed to an at least partially formed book block (9) along the collecting section (14) by means of respective feeders (12).
  4. Method according to one of claims 1 to 3, characterised in that the inserts (7, 8) are fed to the top of a partially formed book block (9) along the collecting section (14).
  5. Method according to claim 4, characterised in that the insert (7, 8) is placed on the top of a partially formed book block (9) such that it adheres thereto.
