Description

The invention relates to a method for operating a bookbinding machine according to the preamble of claim 1.

In the case of the mechanical production of books or book blocks, folding sheets are collected in a first step, and in a second step the folded sheets are glued together, an envelope is applied in a third step, and the book is trimmed in a fourth step.

The gathering of the folded sheets is done in gathering machines. That's how it shows DE 1 216 837 a gathering machine for folded sheets with individual in a row juxtaposed laying stations and an endless, provided with driving elements conveyor.

Einen derartigen Klebebinder zeigt beispielsweise die DE 2005 007 012 U1 .Perfect binders are used for the production of adhesive booklets or book blocks for hard covers, wherein the folded sheets and / or single sheets that have been assembled into a book block are joined by applying an adhesive to the previously processed book block spine. The possible binding methods and the product variants depend on the machine equipment. This consists essentially of the functional units book block transport system, book block insertion station, back processing, gluing back, intermediate drying, gluing on sides, back reinforcement, create cover, press envelope and dry. Such a perfect binder shows, for example, the DE 2005 007 012 U1 ,

From gathered by collating folding sheets can be either stacked outsourced and fed to the subsequent perfect binder or the collated folded sheets are forwarded via a transfer device of the collator to the perfect binder. If folded sheets are deposited on one another by the gathering machine, then they must be moved from their lying into a standing position by the transfer device that the still unbound book block can be gripped by a clamping element of the adhesive binder and transported therethrough.
The DE 38 40 816 C2 shows an import device for transporting book blocks in a following machine. Coming from a collating machine unbound book blocks are passed through a transfer system, for example, to a subsequent perfect binder. The import device has a conveyor consisting of a roller conveyor, which is operated at a lower speed than the subsequent transport device of the perfect binder. This ensures that the still unbound book block is safely and gently transferred to the clamping elements of the perfect binder.
The DE 22 07 762 A1 discloses a bookbinding machine in which a binder is operated in association with one or two gathering machines.

If the gathering machine and perfect binder are operated together and the folded sheets are transferred directly from the gathering machine to the perfect binder, then both machines must be operated isochronously with each other. This ensures that the folded folded sheets are cyclically transferred from a respective driver element of the collating machine to a respective clamping means of the perfect binder. A composite of gathering machine and adhesive binder operated in this way is not very flexible and an adaptation of the operating speeds of gathering machine and perfect binder in order to meet the requirements of the respective product to be produced is only possible to a limited extent. If, for example, landscape-form folded sheets are collected, then it is advantageous to have low accelerations between the entrainment elements of the collating machine and the gathered folded sheet, d. H. operate the gathering machine at a low speed. If the perfect binder is now operated at a correspondingly low speed, this can lead to a loss in quality of the book blocks or books produced. This occurs, for example, when the adhesive used sets before attaching an envelope, d. h., When the setting behavior of the adhesive requires a higher operating speed of the adhesive binder.

It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a method for operating a bookbinding machine comprising a collating machine and an adhesive binder describe which overcomes the disadvantages of the prior art and allows the production of high-quality book blocks or books.

This object is achieved by a method for operating a bookbinding machine with the characterizing features of claim 1.

Figure imgb0001
The bookbinding machine, which is operated by the method according to the invention, comprises at least one collating machine for collating folded sheets and an adhesive binder, which is subsequently arranged in the transport direction, for producing book blocks or books. Gathering machine and perfect binder each have separate, individually controllable drives. Between the gathering machine and the adhesive binder, a transfer device for transferring the gathered folded sheets from the gathering machine to the adhesive binder is arranged. The gathering machine has entrainment elements on a conveyor, which are designed as drive pins or transport compartments. The driver elements are mounted at a fixed distance from each other on a conveyor of the collator. The perfect binder has on a conveyor circulating clamping means, such as book block pliers, which are also mounted at a fixed distance from each other to a conveyor of the adhesive binder. The bookbinding machine is operated in an advantageous manner so that the speed of the clamping means of the adhesive binder relative to the distance of the clamping means to each other to an n-times the speed of the driver elements of the collator relative to the distance of the driver elements is set to each other. N is a natural number greater than 1, preferably 2. The ratio of the speeds can be described by the following formula: v K aK 1 / m = n vZ aZ 1 / m
Figure imgb0001

Figure imgb0002
Figure imgb0003
VZ is the speed of the gathering machine, vK is the speed of the perfect binder, aZ is the distance from the front edge of a driver element to the front edge of a following driver element and aK the distance from the Leading edge of a clamping means to the leading edge of a subsequent clamping means. The distances aZ and aK are each measured in meters and multiplied by 1 m
Figure imgb0002
freed from their units. n is a natural number greater than 1. The formula thus describes the ratio of the relative speed of the perfect binder v'K to the speed of the gathering machine v'Z: v 'k = n v'Z
Figure imgb0003

In an advantageous development, the method operates a bookbinding machine with an adhesive binder whose perfect binder has a folding station and / or a cover feeder. The Fälzel and / or the envelopes are fed to the beat of moving in the perfect binder book blocks.

The drives of gathering machine and adhesive binder are advantageously servomotors.

In the method according to the invention, both the desired speed of the gathering machine and the desired speed of the perfect binder in the related speed ratio n are selected based on procedural boundary conditions. These procedural boundary conditions are, for example, the setting behavior of the adhesive used in the perfect binder and the format and the grammage of the folded sheets to be processed. The set speed of the gathering machine is the maximum speed of the gathering machine, in which a secure collation of the folded sheets is still guaranteed. The target speed of the perfect binder is determined by the minimum speed, at which the setting time of the adhesive used in the perfect binder is not exceeded, and by the maximum operating speed of the adhesive binder.

The speed of gathering and / or perfect binder and the speed ratio are entered via the user interface of the collator and / or perfect binder. Gathering machine and Perfect binders either each have their own machine control, which are connected to each other, or have a common machine control.

With regard to further advantageous embodiments of the invention, reference is made to the dependent claims and the description of an embodiment with reference to the accompanying drawings.

The invention will be explained in more detail with reference to an embodiment. It shows in a schematic representation
Fig. 1
a bookbinding machine with gathering machine and perfect binder

Fig. 1 shows a bookbinding machine with a gathering machine 1, a transfer device 2 and an adhesive binder 3. The gathering machine 1 has a plurality of investors 10, wherein in Fig. 1 for clarity, only two investors 10 are shown. In the investors 10 are folded sheets 102 which are separated by the feeder 10 and moved by driving pins 12, wherein the driving pins 12 are fixed to a rotating conveyor member 13. The driving pins 12 are spaced apart from each other by aZ and move past the investors 10 at the speed vZ, each taking over a folded sheet 102 and thus bringing together the folded sheet 102 to be joined to a book block or book 100.

The gathered folded sheets 102 are moved from their lying position in the collating machine 1 by the transfer device 2 into a standing position and transferred as still unbound book block 100 to the book block pliers 11 of the perfect binder 3. The adhesive binder 3 has a plurality of circulating book block pliers 11. The distance from the trailing edge of a book block pliers 11 to the trailing edge of a subsequent in the transport direction T book block pliers 11 is aK. The book block pliers 11 are moved at the speed vK. The perfect binder 3 also has a cover feeder 4 in the envelopes 101 at the speed vU fed and glued to a respective book block 100. The book block 100 or books created in this way are transferred from the perfect binder 3 to a cooling section at position 5. After cooling of the book block or book 100, the three-side trim and the book display.

In the following, an example will be described to illustrate the method according to the invention: the gathering machine 1 can be operated maximally at the speed vZ. At higher speeds, there would be damage to the signatures 102 during gathering. If the perfect binder 3 were operated at the speed v'K = v'Z, the setting time of the adhesive used in perfect binder 3 would be exceeded and the quality of the book binding would be impaired. The perfect binder 3 is therefore operated at a higher speed, for example twice the speed, and it is v'K = 2 * v'Z. The speed of the perfect binder v'K is within the range of the permissible speeds, i. between minimum and maximum speed.

While in the gathering machine 1 while each driver element 12 gathers folded sheet 102, the collated folded sheets 102 are only passed to every other book block tongs 11 of the perfect binder, ie every second book block tongs passes through the perfect binder 3 without a book block 100. The output of the bookbinding machine is thus by the speed the gathering machine vZ determined.
