Abstract

The device has a pair of tongs (5) with two heatable arms (7, 7') connected together by a joint. Multi-part gripping tips are thermally insulated against a heating part of the arms and fixed at an end of the arms, where the end is turned away from the joint. Description

The invention relates to a heatable hair styling device with a pair of pliers with two heatable arms connected to each other via a hinge according to the preamble of claim 1, as for example from the generic EP 1 417 905 A1 as known.

For shaping hair hair styling devices (so-called multi-styling devices) are known, which allow on the one hand, the curls, on the other hand, the smoothing of hair. Such devices include a pair of pliers with two heatable arms connected to one another and pivotable relative to each other. The arms have on their mutually facing inner surfaces on a substantially flat heating surface; the outer surfaces of the arms are designed so that they form a cylindrical portion in the closed state of the pliers. In the use mode of the hair styling device as a curling iron, the pliers are closed, ie the two heatable arms are firmly connected to each other, and the hair strands to be formed are wound around the heated cylinder portion. When used as a straightener, the pliers formed by the two arms are opened and closed to receive strands of hair between the two arms that are pressed between the heated inner surfaces of the two arms to smooth the hair. To facilitate the user's holding and guiding the hair styling device, the ends of the arms facing away from the forceps joint are provided with gripping tips, which are thermally insulated from the heatable arms. These gripper tips are immovably attached to the arms of the hair styling device. If the hair styling device is used as a curling iron, the hair styling device is rotated about the longitudinal axis of the cylinder section formed by the arms, which requires a multiple handle change of the hand holding the gripping tips. This is cumbersome and involves the risk of injury when the hand touches the hot curling iron while gripping it.

The invention has for its object to improve the handling of the known hair styling system.

The object is solved by the features of claim 1. Advantageous embodiments are the subject of the dependent claims.

Thereafter, a thermally insulated gripping tip is attached to at least one of the heating arms end, which can be rotated in the closed state of the forceps against the forceps joint. The thermally insulated gripping tip serves to better hold and guide the device during use. In the closed state of the forceps, the two heating arms together form a cylindrical section that can be used for screwing curls. In this mode of operation, the hair is wound around the cylinder portion and fixed in this state. Since the gripping tip is rotatably mounted on the device in this mode of use, the user can continuously hold the rotation tip without turning around when turning the curling iron; this simplifies the handling of the curling iron and increases safety, since the risk of accidentally touching the hot heating element when gripping around is considerably reduced. The axis of rotation of the gripping tip is advantageously aligned colinearly to an axis of symmetry of the mutually fixed in the closed state of the pliers, the cylindrical heating part forming arms.

If the device is used for straightening hair, then the two arms must be moved against each other like a pliers in order to pinch or pass the hair between the pliers arms. The rotatable gripping tip must therefore be designed in such a way that it allows the opening of the pliers.

In a first embodiment of the invention, the gripping tip is designed in one piece and rotatably attached to one of the two arms. When the pliers are opened, the gripping tip is moved with the arm to which it is attached. The axis of rotation of the gripping tip can in this case be mounted, in particular, on the end of the arm remote from the joint, in the region of the forceps joint or in an area located therebetween.

In a further embodiment of the invention, the gripping tip comprises two halves, wherein in the open state of the forceps, a gripper tip half is associated with each of the two arms. In the closed state of the pliers, the two gripper tip halves can be rotated together against the rod formed from the two arms; in the open state of the forceps, on the other hand, each gripping tip half is rotatably locked against her assigned arm. To prevent the rotational movement of the gripper tip halves in the open state of the forceps, the arm is expediently provided with a fixing device. The fixing device may, for example, have a fixing pin mounted displaceably in the gripper tip half, which cooperates with a nose fastened to the opposite gripper tip half in such a manner that when the pliers are closed the nose penetrates into a recess of the fixing pin and the gripper tip half is unlocked relative to the arm.
