Definitions
- the present invention relates to a flashing beacon for alarm systems comprising a light source including at least one light emitting diode and a driving circuit comprising a power supply, an inductive buck converter and a flash controller, the inductive buck converter, the light source and the flash controller being connected in series.
- Such flashing lights are together with the hazard detectors on the detector bus of the alarm system, for example, together with the fire alarms on the detector bus of a fire alarm system.
- Known flashing lights have a relatively high power consumption of about ten times a scattered light smoke detector. It would therefore be advantageous to use flashing lights with the lowest possible power consumption at a certain effective light intensity. It is obvious that the effective light intensity must not fall below a certain lower limit, because for example, when mounting the flashing lights in long corridors, this is often seen at a shallow angle, so that the perceived by the eye light intensity can be very small.
- the invention will now be given a flashing light of the type mentioned, which has the lowest possible power consumption and thus improved efficiency.
- the flashing light has an inductive down converter connected in series with the light source and the flash control.
- the converter current flows through the LEDs, which is very important because it reduces the power consumption.
- Another advantage of the inventive solution is that the Efficiency is improved by about a factor of 2 and the current and thus the light emission of the flashing light over a wide voltage range of about 12 to 30 V can be kept relatively constant relatively good.
- a first preferred embodiment of the flashing beacon according to the invention is characterized in that the inductive buck converter has a control unit, and that this is connected in series with an inductance, an induction barrier and a resistor.
- the resistor in connection with the control unit keeps the current to the light source constant during the lighting time.
- the figure shows in the middle part of a six light-emitting diodes (LEDs) 1 containing light source L, in the upper half of their supply and an inductive buck converter W and in the lower part the designated as flash control B control electronics of the light source L.
- LEDs light-emitting diodes
- the six forming the light source L.
- Light-emitting diodes 1 arranged in two parallel branches to three LEDs 1. Flashing lights of the type described are often used in combination with an acoustic alarm, such combined acoustic / optical alarms as a "sounder beacon", or in German “Blitzsummer” are called.
- the flashing light or the flash buzzer is preferably mounted on the ceiling and has a similar shape as the fire alarm.
- the supply includes a voltage source 2, which supplies a voltage of, for example, 12 and 30 V, and a current limiter 3 for limiting the current supplied by the voltage source 2 to 3 mA.
- the reference numeral 5 denotes a current memory formed by a capacitor.
- the inductive step-down converter W includes a control unit 4, an inductance 6, a diode 7 acting as an induction barrier for the inductance 6, and a resistor 8 acting as a current limiter, at whose output the light source L is located.
- the control unit 4, the inductor 6, the diode 7 and the resistor 8 are connected in series.
- the current flowing to the light source L is kept constant during the lighting time to a certain value of, for example, 280 mA. As soon as this value is reached, the power supply is interrupted in the inductive step-down converter W, switched on again after a few hundred milliseconds, and so on. In this way, the interaction of the resistor 8, the inductor 6 and the current transformer 4 results in a significant reduction of the power consumption of the light source L and thus an improvement in the efficiency by about a factor of 2.
- the flash controller B essentially comprises a microprocessor 9, which is connected, for example via an ASIC to the detector bus of a fire alarm system and from this an operating voltage of 3 V and all required alarm data relates, and two switches 10 for switching on and off the light source L.
- the microprocessor 9 controls in case of alarm, the two switches 10 so that the LEDs 1, for example, each for 20 ms and then switched off for 1.2 s. It is because of the temperature dependence the luminous intensity of the LEDs depends on the duration of the switch-on of the temperature. For example, the turn-on time of the light-emitting diodes at a temperature of -20 ° is 15 ms, at + 20 ° 20 ms and at + 70 ° 27 ms.
- the ability to drive the LEDs 1 by the flash controller B in certain pulse shapes also contributes to the reduction of power consumption. You can also interpret the pulse shapes for the control of the light emitting diodes 1 according to the degree of attention to be achieved.
- the two branches with the light-emitting diodes 1 can be alternately turned on and off to give the impression of a moving light source L, or the strobe light can flash sequentially, with pre-flash and main flash.
- the flashing light described has the advantage of low power consumption, improved efficiency and a fairly constant light emission over a wide voltage range of 12 to 30 V. It has the maximum effective light intensity for a given power consumption and can also in places where they only under one relatively flat angle is seen, which alert there present reliably.
