Description

Beschreibung
Verfahren zum Fetten von Leder
Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Behandlung von tierischen Häuten, wobei auf die Haut ein Öl, Fett oder Polymer aufgebracht wird und die Haut in einem verdichteten Gas behandelt wird.
Tierische Häute, Leder, Felle oder Pelze werden verschiedenen Behandlungsschritten unterzogen, um diese haltbar zu machen und um bestimmte Eigenschaften zu erzeugen. Der Einfachheit halber werden im Folgenden tierische Häute aller Art, insbesondere Leder, Felle und Pelze, allgemein als tierische Häute bezeichnet.
Traditionell wird die tierische Haut nach der Gerbung mit wasserunlöslichen Fetten bearbeitet, um eine besondere Geschmeidigkeit zu erzielen. Das Einarbeiten des Fettes erfolgt entweder mechanisch oder durch Imprägnieren in einer wässrigen Flotte. Bei diesem Einfetten wird der Haut Fett in einer Menge zugesetzt, die etwa 30% oder häufig auch 50% des Hautgewichts entspricht.
In einem nachfolgenden Schritt wird überschüssiges Fett wieder entfernt, da es häufig allein gewünscht ist, ein gutes Gleiten der Fasern innerhalb der Haut zu gewährleisten. Hierfür ist ein relativ geringer Fettgehalt ausreichend. Die Entfernung des überschüssigen Fetts erfolgt zunächst unter Zuhilfenahme von ölabsorbierenden Sägespänen, die anschließend als Sondermüll entsorgt werden müssen. In einem nachfolgenden Reinigungsschritt werden meist chlorhaltige Waschmittel, wie zum Beispiel Perchlorethylen oder Trichlorethan oder Paraffin eingesetzt. Auch diese teils giftigen, teils brennbaren Reinigungssubstanzen sind als Sondermüll zu behandeln.
In der US 5,512,058 ist ein Verfahren zur Entfettung von Leder und Fellen beschrieben, bei dem überkritisches Kohlendioxid als Reinigungsmittel verwendet wird. Zur Imprägnierung des Leders wird vorgeschlagen, geeignete Additive dem überkritischen Kohlendioxid zuzugeben und das Leder mit diesem Gemisch aus Kohlendioxid und Additiven zu behandeln. Die in der US 5,512,058 vorgeschlagene Entfettung mittels überkritischem Kohlendioxid, das heißt bei einem Druck oberhalb des kritischen Drucks, erfordert eine kontrollierte Dekompression, um das Leder nicht durch plötzliche oder zu schnelle Expansion von verdichtetem Kohlendioxid zu schädigen. Zur Imprägnierung ist es notwendig, die Fette in den Druckbehälter mit dem überkritischen Kohlendioxid einzubringen. Eine gleichmäßige Verteilung der Fette in dem Leder wird dabei nur bei langen Behandlungszeiten erreicht.
Aufgabe vorliegender Erfindung ist es, ein verbessertes Verfahren zum Fetten von tierischen Häuten aufzuzeigen.
Diese Aufgabe wird durch ein Verfahren der eingangs genannten Art gelöst, wobei die auf die Haut oder auf das Fell aufgebrachte Menge an Öl, Fett oder Polymer weniger als 20 %, bevorzugt weniger als 15 %, besonders bevorzugt weniger als 10 %, des Gewichts der Haut oder des Fells beträgt.
Erfindungsgemäß wird auf die tierische Haut zunächst ein Öl, Fett oder Polymer aufgebracht. Anschließend wird die eingefettete Haut in einem verdichteten Gas, insbesondere Kohlendioxid, behandelt. Ohne an irgendeine Theorie gebunden sein zu wollen, wird vermutet, dass durch das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren ein Teil der natürlich in der tierischen Haut enthaltenen Fette durch die erfindungsgemäß zugegebenen Fette und Öle ausgetauscht wird. Dadurch wird eine verbesserte Struktur der Haut erreicht, die sich durch eine erhöhte Gleitfähigkeit der die Haut- oder Lederstruktur ausmachenden Moleküle auszeichnet. Es hat sich gezeigt, dass ein erfindungsgemäß behandeltes Leder oder Fell "zuegiger" und mehr streckbar ist, also grossere permanente Deformationen aufweist als klassisch behandelte Leder. Dies ist z.B. bei Edelpelzen gewuenscht, um das Gewicht der aus Pelz hergestellten Kleidungsstuecke gering zu halten.
Je nach Fell- und Lederart ergeben sich verschiedene Arbeitsparameter. Es hat sich allerdings gezeigt, dass es günstig ist, nicht mehr als 20% Fett bezogen auf die Felloder Ledereinwaage zuzugeben. Bevorzugt wird der Fett- und Öleinsatz auf weniger als 15%, besonders bevorzugt weniger als 10% des Gewichts der zu behandelnden Haut beschränkt. Von Vorteil wird das Fett, Öl oder Polymer auf die tierische Haut aufgesprüht. Besonders günstig ist es, wenn die Haut während des Aufsprühens umgewälzt oder rotiert wird, um eine gleichmäßige Beaufschlagung mit dem Fett, Öl oder Polymer zu erzielen. Die Beaufschlagung in einem verdichteten Gas gehört auch zu den erfindungsgemäß möglichen Imprägnierungstechniken, allerdings ist es häufig kommerziell sinnvoller, die teuren Druckgefässe nur zur anschließenden Entfettung zu gebrauchen.
Vorzugsweise lässt man das Fett, Öl oder Polymer eine Zeit, z.B. 15 bis 60 Minuten in die Haut einwirken. Während der Einwirkphase ist es von Vorteil, die tierische Haut zu bewegen. Hierdurch wird zum einen das Öl oder Polymer in die Haut einmassiert, zum anderen werden durch die mechanische Bearbeitung die elastischen Eigenschaften des Fells oder Leders verbessert. Bei der Behandlung von Edelpelzen werden im Allgemeinen längere Einwirkzeiten von beispielsweise bis zu einer Stunde, vorzugsweise auch mit gleichzeitiger Bewegung der Edelpelze, vorgesehen.
Wie oben bereits erwähnt, werden im Rahmen dieser Anmeldung tierische Häute aller Art, insbesondere Leder, Felle und Pelze, allgemein als tierische Häute bezeichnet. Die Erfindung ist allgemein auf dem Ledersektor einsetzbar, beispielsweise zur Verarbeitung oder Behandlung von Schaf-, Fuchs- oder Renfellen oder -ledern.
Besonders eignet sich das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren zur Behandlung von Häuten, bei denen das Haarkleid erhalten werden soll. In der Pelzverarbeitung, und hier besonders bei der Behandlung von Edelpelzen, bringt die Erfindung technische, qualitative und kommerzielle Vorteile.
Erfindungswesentlich ist die anschließende Behandlung der Haut in einem verdichteten Gas. Hierbei hat sich vor allem eine Behandlung in verdichtetem Kohlendioxid bei einem Druck zwischen 20 und 300 bar, vorzugsweise bei einem Druck zwischen 20 und 100 bar, insbesondere in flüssigem Kohlendioxid bei einem Druck zwischen 20 und 70 bar als günstig erwiesen. Vorzugsweise findet die Behandlung in unterkritischem Kohlendioxid, besonders bevorzugt bei einem Druck von weniger als 70 bar und einer Temperatur unterhalb 25 0C, statt.
Grundsätzlich kann auch überkritisches Kohlendioxid als Reinigungs- und Entfettungsmedium eingesetzt werden. Demgegenüber hat jedoch die Verwendung unterkritischen Kohlendioxids den Vorteil, dass die Reinigungsmaschinen einfacher und billiger ausgeführt werden können als solche für überkritische Anwendungen, die für deutlich höhere Drücke ausgelegt sind. Im übrigen sind solche, für den Einsatz von unterkritischem Kohlendioxid ausgelegte Maschinen bereits zur chemischen Reinigung von Textilien mit Kohlendioxid kommerziell erhältlich und müssen für den erfindungsgemäßen Einsatz auf dem Leder- und Fellgebiet nur geringfügig modifiziert werden. Aufgrund der geringeren Verfahrensdrücke im Vergleich zur überkritischen Entfettung kann die Dekompression nach erfolgter Entfettung schneller erfolgen. Hierbei wird insbesondere ein plötzliches Verdampfen von im Leder oder Fell befindlichen Kohlendioxid vermieden, welches ansonsten die Gefahr einer mechanischen Schädigung des Leders oder Felles mit sich bringt.
Die Behandlung in dem verdichteten Gas dient einerseits der gleichmäßigen Verteilung des Fettes oder Öles in der tierischen Haut, andererseits dazu, überschüssiges Fett zu entfernen. Eine Behandlung der tierischen Haut in unterkritischem Kohlendioxid erfüllt diese beiden Teilaufgaben optimal. Die Entfernung überschüssigen Fettes mit unterkritischem Kohlendioxid erfolgt langsam, so dass während des Auswaschens das Fett gleichmäßig über die gesamte Oberfläche der tierischen Haut verteilt wird.
Besonders zweckmäßig hat sich insoweit ein mehrfaches Waschen des zu behandelnden Gutes erwiesen. Die Haut, das Fell oder Leder wird in mindestens zwei, vorzugsweise drei bis fünf, aufeinander folgenden Schritten mit dem verdichteten Gas behandelt.
Bei der Behandlung mit flüssigem Kohlendioxid wird beispielsweise das eingefettete Leder in einem ersten Ansatz mit flüssigem Kohlendioxid gewaschen. Das zuvor auf das Leder aufgebrachte Fett löst sich zum Teil in dem Kohlendioxid. Ein Teil des Fettes wird dann an unbehandelten Stellen des Leders wieder abgeladen. Auf diese Weise wird das Fett gleichmäßig über das ganze Leder verteilt. Vorzugsweise wird in dieser Phase das Leder in dem Kohlendioxidbad umgewälzt.
Nach zum Beispiel 10 bis 20 Minuten werden das flüssige Kohlendioxid und das darin gelöste Fett abgezogen, frisches Kohlendioxid wird dem Leder zugeführt und ein zweiter Behandlungsschritt wird durchgeführt. Häufig sind drei bis fünf solcher Reinigungsschritte sinnvoll. Vorzugsweise wird nach einem Waschgang das mit Fett versetzte verdichtete Gas, in obigem Beispiel das flüssige Kohlendioxid, einer Destillation unterzogen, um dann in gereinigtem Zustand wieder in einen Vorratsbehälter überführt werden zu können.
Bei mehreren Waschgängen ist es sinnvoll, dem verdichteten Gas in einem der Waschgänge, z.B. einem der letzten, ein Kosolvent, zum Beispiel aus der Gruppe der Alkohole, Ketone, Paraffine oder Ester, oder ein anderes Additiv, einschließlich eines Duftstoffes, zuzusetzen, um besonders hartnäckig anhaftende Stoffe effektiv zu entfernen.
Vorzugsweise wird die Haut solange in dem verdichteten Gas behandelt, bis das Gewicht der Haut geringer als dessen Gewicht vor dem Aufbringen des Öls, Fetts oder Polymers ist. Tierhaut, Leder oder Felle enthalten bereits von Natur aus Fette. Durch das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren werden diese Fette zum Teil herausgewaschen und gegen die zugesetzten, gezielt ausgewählten Fette oder Öle ausgetauscht. Die Auswahl dieser Fette und Öle kann auf der Basis ihrer Löslichkeit in Kohlendioxid erfolgen, wobei man ein Öl, dass zumindest partiell im Leder verbleiben soll, auf der Basis seiner geringeren (verglichen mit natürlich im Leder enthaltenen Ölen und Fetten) Löslichkeit in Kohlendioxid auswählt.
Die Entfettung wird dabei von Vorteil bis zu einem solchen Grad durchgeführt, dass das Fell oder Leder nach dem Entfetten leichter ist als im unbehandelten Zustand, bevor das Fett aufgebracht wurde. Bevorzugt beträgt das Gewicht des Fells oder Leders nach dem Entfetten mindestens 1 % weniger als im unbehandelten Zustand.
So weist beispielsweise ein handtrockener Nerzpelz nach der Gerbung ein relatives Gewicht von 100 auf. Der Nerzpelz wird nun erfindungsgemäß eingefettet. Hierzu werden dem Nerzpelz zwischen 5 und 15 % seines Gewichts an Fetten und Ölen zugesetzt. Das Gesamtgewicht des Nerzpelzes beträgt dann je nach Fettzusatz zwischen 105 und 115. Abschließend wird der Pelz in flüssigem Kohlendioxid solange gereinigt und entfettet bis dessen Gesamtgewicht zwischen 93 und 97 liegt.
Als Öle, Fette oder Polymere, welche auf die zu behandelnde Tierhaut aufgebracht werden, haben sich folgende Substanzen beziehungsweise Substanzgruppen bewährt: oxypropylierte Fettalkohole und Polypropylenglykol sowie deren Mischungen, Fettaminoethoxylate und -propoxylate, Polyhydroxyverbindungen, Ester, Derivate von Zuckern, Sorbitanester, Alkylpolyglycoside, Glyceride, Silikone, Paraffin, Polyether und Fluorverbindungen. Diese Stoffe führen zu einer erhöhten Elastizität und Zügigkeit des Leders oder Fells. Dies bedeutet einen direkten wirtschaftlichen Vorteil für den Lederoder Fellverarbeiter und einen erhöhten Wert für den Endabnehmer.
Die Erfindung hat wesentliche Vorteile gegenüber den traditionellen Verfahren zum Fetten und nachfolgendem Entfetten von Leder und Fellen:
Zeitaufwändiges mechanisches Bearbeiten des Leders zum Einbringen des Fettes („Walken" oder „kicking") kann entfallen. Erfindungsgemäß wird das Öl oder Fett aufgebracht und anschließend während der Behandlung in dem verdichteten Gas auf der Leder- oder Felloberfläche verteilt und, insbesondere wenn das Leder oder Fell dabei umgewälzt wird, in diese eingearbeitet.
Zum Entfetten werden keine giftigen oder brennbaren Hilfsmittel eingesetzt, die zum einen als Sondermüll entsorgt werden müssten, zum anderen häufig einen unvorteilhaften Geruch auf dem Leder oder Fell zurücklassen.

Claims

Patentansprüche
1. Verfahren zur Behandlung von tierischen Häuten, wobei auf die Haut ein Öl, Fett oder Polymer aufgebracht wird und die Haut in einem verdichteten Gas behandelt wird, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die auf die Haut aufgebrachte Menge an Öl, Fett oder Polymer weniger als 20 %, bevorzugt weniger als 15 %, besonders bevorzugt weniger als 10 %, des Gewichts der Haut beträgt.
2. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1 , dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das Öl, Fett oder Polymer auf die Haut aufgesprüht wird.
3. Verfahren nach einem der Ansprüche 1 oder 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Haut in verdichtetem Kohlendioxid bei einem Druck zwischen 20 und 300 bar, vorzugsweise bei einem Druck zwischen 20 und 100 bar, insbesondere in flüssigem Kohlendioxid bei einem Druck zwischen 20 und 70 bar, behandelt wird.
4. Verfahren nach Anspruch 3, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Haut in verdichtetem Kohlendioxid bei einem Druck unterhalb von 70 bar und einer Temperatur unterhalb von 25 0C behandelt wird.
5. Verfahren nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 4, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Haut in mindestens zwei, vorzugsweise drei bis fünf, Behandlungsschritten in einem verdichteten Gas behandelt wird, wobei die Haut und das verdichtete Gas jeweils zwischen zwei Behandlungsschritten voneinander getrennt werden.
6. Verfahren nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 5, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Haut solange in dem verdichteten Gas behandelt wird, bis das Gewicht der Haut mindestens 1 % geringer als dessen Gewicht vor dem Aufbringen des Öls, Fetts oder Polymers ist.
7. Verfahren nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 6, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass auf die Haut ein Öl, Fett oder Polymer aufgebracht wird, welches aus der folgenden Gruppe ausgewählt ist: oxypropylierte Fettalkohole und Polypropylenglykol sowie deren Mischungen, Fettaminoethoxylate und -propoxylate, Polyhydroxyverbindungen, Ester, Derivate von Zuckern, Sorbitanester, Alkylpolyglycoside, Glyceride, Silikone, Paraffin, Polyether und Fluorverbindungen.
