Als Folge hiervon findet eine wirksame Begrenzung des Verstellweges des Gesperres 1, 2 statt, und zwar besonders geräuschgedämpft.   3. Motor vehicle door lock according to one of the claims 1 to 2, characterised in that the locking mechanism damper (8) limits an overtravel movement of the locking mechanism (1, 2) in order to restrict the closing movement of the locking mechanism (1, 2).
  4. Motor vehicle door lock according to one of the claims 1 to 3, characterised in that the locking mechanism stops (10, 11) are in each case provided on the rotary catch (1) and serve as an opening stop (10) on one hand and an overtravel stop (11) on the other hand.
  5. Motor vehicle door lock according to one of the claims 1 to 4, characterised in that the locking mechanism damper (8) is a circular disc made of elastomeric plastic.
  6. Motor vehicle door lock according to one of the claims 1 to 5, characterised in that the locking mechanism damper (8) is fully or partly immersed in a motion path (12) of the locking mechanism (1, 2) between the two locking mechanism stops (10, 11).
  7. Motor vehicle door lock according to claim 6, characterised in that the locking mechanism damper (8) rolls along the motion path (12) and is elastically deformed in the area of the locking mechanism stops (10, 11).
  8. Motor vehicle door lock according to claim 5, characterised in that the locking mechanism stops (10, 11) are arc-shaped with a radius adapted to the diameter of the locking mechanism damper (8).
