- the present invention relates to a vehicle door reinforced against side impacts. It is known that motor vehicle doors conventionally comprise an outer panel and an inner box panel interconnected at their lower part by a door bottom wall extending transversely with respect to the two panels.
- motor vehicle doors are often reinforced by reinforcing bars extending behind the outer panel of the door and located substantially halfway up the door.
- these reinforcement bars are insufficient to prevent the door from opening towards the inside of the vehicle, during a side impact at a speed of less than 60 km / h.
- This opening of the door towards the interior of the vehicle is detrimental to the passengers.
- This opening is due to too low resistance of the lower part of the door located under the aforementioned reinforcement bars. Indeed, this too low resistance allows it to deform by passing over the rabbet of the subwoofer of the vehicle. The lower part of the door is no longer retained by this rabbet, the door can open inwards, seriously injuring or even killing passengers.

- the lower part of the door comprises not only the reinforcing bars 8, but also the reinforcing plate 4 described with reference to FIGS. 1 to 3. The simultaneous presence of the reinforcing plate 4 and the bars 8 gives the lower part of the door an increased resistance against side impacts.
- the double reinforcement above is particularly suitable for vehicles with two doors each having a relatively large length, that is to say, sensitive to side impacts, as in the case of coupes.
