- the locking member 13 comprises two substantially axial parallel elastic arms 21, formed projecting and cantilevered from a peripheral wall of the housing 7. It further comprises a bridge 23 connecting the two axial arms 21 on the side of their free end located at the front and having the rear side 24 a stop surface.
- the locking member 13 further comprises an operating knob 25 formed at its free end.
- the housing 7 is formed internally with resilient engagement members 31 ( Figure 2 ), in the form of flexible side tabs.
- Each elastic tab 31 has a tooth 32 formed at its rear free end, which is intended to engage in a corresponding notch 33 formed laterally on the module 5 (FIG. Figure 1 ).
- the tooth 32 and the notch 33 together define, when the module 5 is resiliently engaged in the housing 7, an axial support opposing the withdrawal, from back to front, of the module 5 with respect to the housing 7.
- the interlocking members 31 and notches 33 are adapted to allow axial relative backlash of the module 5 relative to the housing 7, from the bearing position of the tooth against the shoulder formed by the catch 33, as shown in FIG. Figure 3 .
- the connector 1 comprises a peripheral lip seal 37 mounted by fitting on the module 5, and provided to provide an inter-facial seal between the base 3 and the connector 1.
- the seal 37 has the general shape of a sleeve provided with a series of collars 41 projecting radially defining the lips (three in number in the example shown), and has, on the front side, a flange 43 forming a shoulder.
- the module 5 has a first rear peripheral flange 45 forming a shoulder for the flange 43 and, on a portion of its periphery, successively from behind to the first, a second 47 and a third 48 flanges.
- the seal 37 is then positioned without contact with respect to a bottom surface 51 of casing 7, inscribed in an annular surface, and located in the axial extension of the seal.
- the secondary locking key 10 is arranged in front of the bearing surface of the flange 47, provided to receive the seal 37 in support. Thus, the seal does not come into contact with said key 10, and it does not interfere with the operation of this key.
- the base 3 comprises an insulating housing 57 in which are arranged a series of contacts 59, here pins, complementary contacts 11 housed in the module 5.
- the housing 57 is formed with a skirt 61 within which protrude axially the pins 59.
- the skirt 61 is internally formed with a peripheral shoulder 62, which constitutes an engagement stop for the flange 48 of the module 5.
- the locking member 15 complementary to that 13 of the housing 7, is formed radially projecting from the skirt 61. It is in the form of a tooth having an inclined ramp 63 facing towards the rear, and a surface of stopping 65 transverse to the coupling axis X, this stop surface 65 being turned forward.
- the interfacial sealing between the module 5 and the housing 57 is made by coming into contact with the lips 41 on the inner surface of the skirt 61.
- the stop surface 24 of the bridge 23 then bears against the stop surface 65 of the tooth 15, so as to oppose the withdrawal of the connector 1.
- the rim 43 of the seal acts as an elastic vibration damping member, which limits the relative movements of the stop surfaces 24, 65 of the organs locking.
- the rim 43 is indented on a part of the periphery of the joint (see Figures 5 and 6 ), so that the axial compression of the seal 37, during coupling, is performed only on a part of the periphery of the latter. This feature allows to adjust the elastic return force applied to the locking members, and to prevent the coupling of the connector 1 on the base 3 requires excessive coupling force.
- the unitary design (or monoblock) of the seal and the elastic member has the advantage of a low cost of manufacture and assembly.
- the invention may be envisaged, as will be seen later, with a resilient member separate from the seal.

- the connector further comprises an annular elastic member 152, arranged on a periphery of the casing 107, in the axial extension of the seal, and bearing on the opposite side of the shoulder 139.
- the elastic member 152 is made of the same elastomeric material as the lip seal 137.
- the elastic member 152 is similar to the flange 43 in the embodiment described, in that it constitutes the elastic attenuation member, which is compressed during coupling of the connector 101 on the base 3, and which resiliently urges, at the end of the engagement phase, the stop surfaces of complementary locking members 13, 15 in mutual support.
- the compression of the elastic member 152 is formed between the inner shoulder 62 of the base and the shoulder 139.
- the invention which has just been described makes it possible, by minor modifications to the existing connectors, and in particular by minor modifications to the peripheral lip seals, to reduce the effects of the vibrations on the wear of the locking members, and incidentally, to improve the contact reliability of the connection device.
- the advantage obtained is particularly important in the case of connectors for fuel injection systems of motor vehicle engines, given the high level of vibration, temperature, and mechanical stress.
