    - a composition (P) to be applied to the nails, skin or lips;
    - an applicator (3) comprising:
    - an application element (6);
    - a rod (5) comprising a portion (22) comprising at least two branches (30) forming between them a cavity (24), said cavity making it possible to retain a reserve of composition by capillary action and opening onto the outer surface of the rod and with non-constant cross-section along the rod,
    in which said portion (22) is located between a proximal portion (16) and a distal portion (13) of the rod (5), said distal portion (13) carrying the application element (6),
    and in which said cavity (24) is delimited at the bottom by at least one inclined surface (38) extending towards the outside and downwards.
  2. Device according to Claim 1, the portion being arranged in a container (2, 72) in the closed position of the device, such that the portion and the container are designed so that a flow of air is maintained around the portion during the move from the closed position to an open position, in which the application element is withdrawn from the container.
  3. Device according to Claim 2, the portion being substantially non-deformable during the move from the closed position to the open position.
