Definitions

  • the invention relates to a device for stretching flexion-resistant fingers or toes, in particular for the treatment of Dupuytren's disease of the hand and foot, with a holding device which can be placed on the metacarpus area and optionally the forearm area or the metatarsus area and can be fixed on this area.
  • Dupuytren's disease is a type of tendon shortening. Due to the growth of the connective tissue of the palm and fingers, coarse knots and strands appear. In the later stage, there is a slow "pulling" of individual fingers into the palm of the hand. Of course, this means a handicap when gripping. The flexor tendons themselves do not undergo any changes. Therefore, the term "tendon shortening" is actually wrong.
  • Dupuytren's disease often occurs in families and mostly in men and is a common disease in local areas. It does not only occur on the hand but also on the feet. Knots then form on the sole of the foot, which cause discomfort when walking.
  • AT 404 427 B discloses a device for extending flexion-contracting fingers and thus Dupuytren's contracture.
  • the device described there has a one-piece shell to be fastened to the metacarpus by means of a Velcro fastener, buckle fastener or the like, to which is attached an inflatable tube, balloon or the like lying in the region of the inner surface of the flexing finger or fingers.
  • the hose etc. is filled with air. The increase in pressure of the unfolding hose etc. leads to an expansion of only the finger or fingers and can be carried out and checked independently by the patient.
  • a prosthesis for the conservative treatment of Dupuytren's contracture is known from German utility model G 88 04 564.1, in which the affected fingers can be brought into a variable stretching point with the aid of taut linen straps attached to stiff leather sleeves.
  • This known prosthesis has the disadvantage, among other things, that it is extremely difficult to stretch curved fingers and to bind them into a tight leather sleeve.
  • the object of the present invention is to provide an improved device of the type described, with which the Dupuytren's disease in the hand and foot can be treated more effectively.
  • the device according to the invention is distinguished, inter alia, by the fact that it has an essentially plate-shaped support unit which is pivotally connected to the holding unit. It can be a support unit for one, two, three or four fingers. It is also possible to use several with the holding unit To connect support units pivotably, in which case one support unit is used for one finger. Mixed forms are also possible.

If the device according to the invention is used to treat the foot, then this pivot axis runs in the area of the basic toe joints (joints between the metatarsal and the toe bones).

This can be accomplished, for example, with one or more strip-like bands which begin on one side of the support unit, are guided on the side of the fingers opposite the support unit, and are returned to the support unit on the other side, so that all fingers are pressed down practically together. It is also possible to provide a single band of this type for each finger that can also be combined with a band acting on all fingers together. In the region of the thumb, an approximately tubular section having a longitudinal section is provided, into which the thumb can be pushed and then remains more or less stationary there.

This also swings the fingers and exerts a continuous pull on the tendons. In this way, new tissue is formed, so that the tendons lengthen. The overgrown trade is stretched; it comes to the pants. Abstract
