Definitions
- the invention relates to a multilayer, strip-shaped shielding foil for electrical lines, in particular for multicore data transmission cables, with at least one carrier layer of a plastic and at least one shielding layer connected to the carrier layer of an electrically conductive material, in particular of metal. Furthermore, the invention relates to an electrical cable, in particular data transmission cable, with at least one line, but in particular with a plurality of twisted pair lines, so-called "twisted pairs", in which the aforementioned shielding film is used.
- Common data transmission cables use several, for example, four of the above-mentioned twisted pairs, which must be shielded with increasing category of transmission bandwidth and transmission quality. Both the outer shielding of the twisted pairs as a whole, as well as the mutual shielding of the twisted pairs in a cable plays a role.
- the invention has the object, a shielding foil for electrical cables and in particular for multi-wire data transmission cable in such a way that while it retains its shielding properties substantially unimpaired, but completely avoids the above grounding problem.
- the pitch gaps return at periodic intervals.
- the measure ratio of gap width to the length of the gap between the gap gaps remaining pieces of film is preferably in the range between 1: 5 and 1:25, with typical film lengths in the range of 60 to 120 mm and typical Abstandsspaltbreiten in the range of 5 to 10 mm.
- the corresponding geometric values are to be designed in such a way that no characteristic impedance peaks or return loss peaks occur in the transmission frequency range of the data transmission cable due to the periodicity of the structure.
- successive spacing gaps are arranged at a preferably small acute angle to the strip transverse direction. With alternate angular position, the pieces of film remaining between the spacing gaps are then trapezoidal.
- This embodiment has the advantage that in a winding of such AblefolienstMail about its longitudinal axis to form a tubular casing, the spacing gaps run helically, which brings in interruption of the current path in the longitudinal direction relative to the strictly perpendicular to the strip longitudinal direction columns advantages in Able with it.
- the pieces of film remaining therebetween are parallelogram-shaped.
- This embodiment allows for application of the shielding film in the longitudinal direction of the cable axis, a gap which rotates as a helix about the cable axis.
- Bandierstrom or during the stranding of the cable while the acute angle of the gap gaps can be designed to the strip transverse direction so that a compensation leads to the stranding angle to a cylindrical metal-free gap.
- a particularly robust embodiment with a high protection for the sensitive metallic shielding layer results from a lamination of the shielding layer between two carrier layers.
- the protective effect is further improved if these carrier layers protrude beyond the longitudinal edges of the shielding layer and are connected to one another there.
- the invention also relates to an electrical cable and, in particular, to data transmission cables, the outer covering and / or an inner supporting and separating structure consisting of the shielding film in one of the embodiments discussed above.
- the outer enclosure protects the overall environment against against emitted from the cable energies and existing in the cable transmission elements, for example in the form of several twisted pairs, against irradiated interference energy.
- the latter aspect is of particular importance in the application of 10GB Ethernet on copper data transmission cables. Namely, the so-called "cable crosstalk" - also referred to as alien NEXT or alien EL-FEXT - drastically reduced by the outer sheath.
- the internal crosstalk between the individual twisted pairs is achieved by integrating the shielding foil into an inner supporting and separating structure, such as, for example, by folding the shielding foil into an inlay Profile four-armed star configuration can be drastically reduced. Due to the flexibility of the shielding film, it can be placed in virtually any configuration and adapted to a wide variety of line assignments within the cable. A large number of examples in which, however, nowhere a shielding foil with a shielding layer interrupted in the longitudinal direction is used can be taken from, inter alia, the documents US Pat. No. 6,624,359 B2, US 2003/0217863 A1 or EP 0 915 486 A1.
- a multi-layer, strip-shaped shielding 1 is clear.
- This has a first carrier layer 2 of a continuous, strip-shaped plastic material, such as preferably polyester, a thickness of 9 to 50 microns.
- a shielding layer 3 is laminated, which consists of individual metal foil pieces 4, which are separated by a gap 5 from each other.
- These rectangular pieces of film have a typical length L in the strip longitudinal direction Z, which is 60 to 120 mm.
- the gap width D in strip longitudinal direction Z is typically about 5 to 10 mm, so that the measurement ratio of gap width D to length L of the film pieces 4 is between 1: 5 and 1:25.
- the width of the film pieces 4 is slightly smaller than that of the carrier layer 2, so that the longitudinal edges 6 of the carrier layer 2 protrude beyond the longitudinal edges 7 of the shielding layer 3 by a few millimeters.
- the metal foil of the shielding layer 3 is preferably made of aluminum with a layer thickness between 5 and 50 microns.
- a further carrier layer 8 is laminated, so that a kind of film sandwich is formed.
- the carrier layer 8 is made of the same material as the carrier layer 2 and is fixedly connected to the lower carrier layer 2 in the region of the longitudinal edges protruding laterally beyond the shielding layer 3.
- the shielding layer 3 is hermetically sealed to the outside.
- the permanent connection of the three layers 2, 3, 8 takes place by means of suitable adhesive materials, which are customary in the field of laminating films.
- the carrier layer 2 can be made of a uniform material for manufacturing and stability reasons multi-layered.
- Fig. 1 is not shown in detail, instead of the laterally projecting longitudinal edges of the two carrier layers 2, 8 and the upper carrier layer 8 ends with its longitudinal edge 6 flush with the longitudinal edge of the metal foil pieces 4, so that when winding the shielding film 1 to corresponding Lines, as will be discussed in more detail below with reference to FIGS. 6 to 9, the overlapping longitudinal edges of the shielding film 1 in the coverage area not so strong.
- the longitudinal edges 6 of the carrier layers 2, 8 and the longitudinal edges 7 of the shielding layer 3 can also end flush with each other, so that the longitudinal edge 7 of the shielding layer 3 accessible from the outside and remains recognizable.
- the embodiment of the shielding film 1 'shown in FIG. 2 differs from the variant according to FIG. 1 only in the course of the gap gaps 5. These are not arranged strictly perpendicular to the strip longitudinal direction Z, but extend at a small acute angle W to the strip transverse direction X. Directions of this oblique course of the distance gap 5 to distance gap 5 are opposite to such that the film pieces 4 are designed trapezoidal between two adjacent spacing columns 5 in plan view.
- these spacing gaps are arranged at a small acute angle W to the strip transverse direction X, but in this shielding film 1 '"they are arranged parallel to one another.
- the film pieces 4 are configured parallelogram in plan view between two adjacent spacing columns 5 in plan view.
- FIGS. 4 and 5 show an inner supporting and separating structure 9 - a so-called “Spline” - in which the shielding film 1 'is folded onto itself in the longitudinal direction Z of the strip in such a way that four star-shaped separating webs 10 are formed
- the inner carrier layer 2 can be fixed in the flanking regions by suitable adhesives 10, the impact between the two longitudinal edges 11 of the shielding film 1 'can be seen.
- the shielding layer 3 runs open into the longitudinal edge 11.
- the entire arrangement of inner supporting and separating structure 9 and the four twisted pair lines 13 is closed by an outer casing 14, which likewise consists again of a shielding film 1 ".
- This strip-shaped shielding film is folded over into a tube and, for example, welded together in the region of its overlapping longitudinal edges 11.
- the entire line arrangement 15 is also completely shielded towards the outside.
- the oblique course of the gap 5 is indicated, moreover. It can be seen that the ends of the gap gaps 5 are arranged offset in the strip longitudinal direction Z to each other. Due to the helical course of the gap 5, a continuous over the cable cross-section irradiation level for electromagnetic radiation is avoided.
- FIG. 7 although the data transmission cable 15 'is again provided with the outer shielded sheath 14 analogous to the embodiment of FIG. 6, the inner support and separation structure is a common cross profile 16 extruded from an insulating plastic , Furthermore, an outer protective sheath 17 made of a polymeric insulating material which partially closes off the data transmission cable 15 "to the outside is shown in FIG. 7 - also representative of the embodiments according to FIGS. 6, 8 and 9. as shown - longitudinal tube or as a helical winding applied shielding 1 "and is optionally permanently connected thereto via an optionally provided adhesive layer 18. In this case, during the installation of the cable 15 'whose stripping and the exposure of the lines 13 is facilitated by the removal of the outer protective jacket 17 then at the same time the shielding foil 1 "is deducted.
- an inner protective jacket 19 can then also be used, which is applied to the cable base element with the cross profile 16 and the four pairs of twisted-pair lines 13. Then the shielding film 1 "is applied longitudinally wound or wound and supplemented with the protective jacket 17 with adhesive layer 18.
- a very wide shielding film 1" is partially folded onto itself in such a form-fitting manner that the four twisted-pair lines 13 are respectively outwardly and inwardly surrounded by the shielding film 1 ".
- This cross-sectionally “ornamental”, meandering envelope of the twisted pair lines thus serves to shield both outwardly and between the lines 13.
- an outer mechanical protective cover is clearly arranged omitted.

Abstract
