Abstract

The escapement has a jaw (21) that is inserted in a notch (22), when a stable pallet (7) of a blocker (6) disengages from teeth (3) of an escape wheel. The return of the pallet in a rest position is caused by a raising flank (25) of the notch. The flank is inclined in a manner that the jaw is forced to follow and to ascend the flank when a small plate (23) rotates.

Description

The present invention relates to a detent escapement for a timepiece comprising an escape wheel, a rocker on the axis of which is fixed a large plate equipped with a pulse pallet and a first finger of actuation, a blocker in the form of rocker hinged on an axis, this blocker carrying a pallet rest, a second actuating finger and a probe terminated by a spout, said escapement further comprising an elastic member acting on one of the fingers of actuating to drive the other finger and actuate the blocker when the plate rotates in a first direction and to bypass the other finger without driving it when the plate rotates in a second direction opposite to the first, the axis of the balance carrying in addition a small plateau in the circular periphery of which is made a notch into which penetrates the nozzle of the probe when the pallet of rest emerges from the escape wheel.

A detent escapement as described above has already been proposed and described in the old Swiss patent CH-3299 due to Emile James. The figure 1 DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT This invention illustrates the proposed arrangement which shows a rocker arm pivoted at one of its ends according to a conventional construction of this type of escapement.

La détente-bascule 46 est ramenée au repos par un ressort spiral de repos 53.The axis 40 of the balance carries a large plate 41, a first small plate 42 carrying a notch 43 and a second plate 44 carrying an actuating finger 45. The trigger-rocker 46 is pivoted on an axis 47. It carries a pallet 48, a pin 49, a spout 50 and a leaf spring 51. The trigger-rocker 46 is brought to rest by a spiral rest spring 53.

At the moment when the actuating finger 45 lifts the rocker trigger 46 by means of the leaf spring 51, the nose 50 penetrates into the notch 43 at the same time as the escape wheel 52 advances by one step. During the additional arc the spout 50 is clear of the notch 43 and is close to the circular periphery 54 of the first small plate 42 in the position illustrated in the figure.

This arrangement has the advantage of preventing a tooth of the wheel 52 from leaving the pallet rest 48 when the timepiece receives a shock. At this moment, the spout 50 briefly presses against the circular periphery 54 of the first small plate 42 which stops the trigger-rocker 46 which is immediately brought to rest by the return spring spiral 53.

This same description puts one finger on a weakness affecting the detent escapement, namely that of being sensitive to shocks also this exhaust is it reserved especially for marine chronometers not mechanically stressed, this exhaust having the reputation of not being well suited to the wristwatches.

If we return to the Swiss patent cited, however, we note that the extraction of the nose 50 out of the notch 43 is only possible thanks to the spiral spring 53 which exerts a restoring force on the trigger-rocker 46. the figure of the prior art it is observed that the notch 43 has steep, almost radial flanks preventing any output of the nozzle that would be caused by the single rotation of the plate itself.

One could thus save the return spring if one conformed the notch and the beak which is introduced in such a way that the recall of the trigger is caused by the same rotation of the plate. This is the aim of the present invention.

Thus, the expansion escapement of the present invention, in addition to meeting the definition of the first paragraph of this description, is remarkable, as defined by claim 1, in that the return of the pallet to the position of rest is caused by a rising edge of said notch arranged in such a way that said spout climbs said flank when the small plate rotates in said first direction.

The invention will now be explained in detail below by an embodiment given by way of example, this embodiment being illustrated by the appended drawings in which:
  • the figure 1 shows a detent escapement of the prior art discussed in the preamble of this description,
  • the figure 2 is a plan view of an embodiment of the exhaust according to the invention,
  • the figure 3 is a perspective view of the exhaust shown in figure 2 ,
  • the figure 4 is an enlargement of the IV zone of the figure 3 ,
  • the Figures 5 to 11 are plan views explaining several operating phases of the exhaust according to the invention.

The figures 2 , 3 and 4 , illustrate the escapement relaxation object of the present invention. The exhaust comprises an escape wheel 2 provided with teeth 3. Without this being shown, the escape wheel is driven by the wheel of the watch which receives its driving force from the barrel. The figures show a large plate 4 mounted on the axis 16 of a beam (not shown). The large plate 4 is equipped with a first actuating finger 14 and a pallet 5 receiving pulses by the teeth 3 of the wheel 2. The system also shows a blocker 6 in the form of a rocker articulated on an axis 8. The blocker 6 carries a rest pallet 7, a second actuating finger 11 and a probe 20 terminated by a spout 21. The rest pallet cooperates with the teeth 3 of the wheel 2. The escapement further comprises an element spring 12 acting on one of the actuating fingers - in the case of Figures 2 to 4 on the finger 14 - to drive the other finger - in this case the finger 11 - and operate the blocker 6 when the plate 4 rotates in a first direction and to bypass the other finger - here the finger 11 - without the lead when the plate rotates in a second direction b opposite the first.

We thus find there the principle of any escapement with expansion in which the impulse with the balance is given only once by oscillation during which the escape wheel turns of an angular step whereas, in the escapement with anchor said wheel advances by half a step at each alternation. Here, one of the advantages of the detent escapement is measured since the energy lost as a result of the inertia of the escape wheel only occurs once per oscillation instead of once alternately.

Comme cela sera montré plus loin, le bec 21 du palpeur 20 pénètre dans l'entaille 22 quand la palette de repos 7 se dégage des dents 3 de la roue d'échappement 2.The Figures 2 to 4 show further that the axis 16 of the balance carries a small plate 23 in the circular periphery 24 which is formed a notch 22. As will be shown later, the nozzle 21 of the sensor 20 enters the notch 22 when the pallet of rest 7 emerges teeth 3 of the escape wheel 2.

More specifically, Figures 2 to 4 show that the blocker 6 comprises a first branch 9 which carries the rest pallet 7 and a second leg 10 which carries the second actuating finger and the probe 20 terminated by the spout 21. More precisely also, these same figures suggest that the elastic member 12 acts on the first actuating finger 14. In this the construction illustrated in FIGS. Figures 2 to 4 differs from that shown in figure 1 representing the prior art.

As has been said above, the prior art also provides a small plate cooperating with a feeler to make the escapement resistant to shocks exerted on the timepiece, but does not save a spiral spring reducing the blocker in the rest position. It is the object of the present invention to provide a construction that does without any return spring by taking advantage of the rotation of the plate to perform this recall. In this perspective, the escapement of the present invention is remarkable in that the return of the pallet 7 in the rest position is caused by a rising edge 25 of the notch 22 formed in the periphery 24 of the small plate 23, this flank being inclined such that the spout 21 terminating the probe 20 escalates said flank 25 when the small plate rotates in the first direction a.

A ce moment le doigt 14 serait un doigt implanté fixement sur le plateau 4.The described embodiment shows an elastic member 12 located between the large and small plates 4 and 23. This organ will not be described here in detail because it can be in various forms, its essential role being to act on the first finger 14 to drive the second finger 11 in a direction of rotation has trays and to retract or circumvent this finger 11 in the opposite direction of rotation b. It will be observed here that the elastic member could be arranged on the blocker 6 and act on the finger 11 of said blocker. At this moment the finger 14 would be a finger implanted fixedly on the plate 4.

(voir figure 1).Finally, the invention could be applied to the escapement described above in the prior art, provided that the first small plate 42 has a notch 43 with a properly inclined flank, which would make it possible to dispense with the spiral return spring 53. (see figure 1 ).

We will now describe in detail the operation of the detent escapement with the help of Figures 5 to 11 which illustrate different phases of this operation.

Le bec 21 du palpeur 20 se présente à l'entrée de l'entaille 22.In figure 5 , the plate 4 rotates in the direction of the arrow a. The second finger 14 on which acts the elastic member 12 comes into contact with the first finger 11 of the blocker 6. The pallet of rest 7 of the blocker 6 is fully engaged in the tooth 60 of the escape wheel 2 which is blocked . The nozzle 21 of the probe 20 is at the inlet of the notch 22.

Le bec 21 s'enfonce dans l'entaille 22.In figure 6 , the plate 4 continues its course in the direction of the arrow a. The second finger 14 drives the first finger 11 of the blocker 6 and tilts the latter in the direction of the arrow c, bringing the pallet rest 7 to the limit of the clearance of the tooth 60. The spout 21 sinks into the notch 22.

Le second doigt 14 est sur le point de décrocher d'avec le premier doigt 11.In figure 7 , the escape wheel 2 is free and rotates in the direction of the arrow c. Its tooth 61 comes into contact with the pallet 5 of the large plate 4, which has the effect of giving a new impetus to said plate which rotates in the direction of the arrow e with the pendulum which is connected thereto. The second finger 14 is about to pick up with the first finger 11.

In figure 8 the pulse of the tooth 61 on the pallet 5 is in progress; the second finger 14 has unhooked with the first finger 11 causing the nozzle 21 of the probe at the beginning of the flank 25 of the notch 22 formed in the small plate 23.

The end of the impulse is presented in figure 9 . The tooth 61 is about to leave the pallet 5. The small plate 23 has been driven by the tooth 61 in the direction of the arrow a, which caused the forced climbing of the spout 21 on the flank 25 and forced the pallet rest 7 to be introduced into the space between the teeth 60 and 62, the blocker 6 then rotating in the direction of the arrow f.

The kinetic energy of the wheel 2 is then exerted on the pallet 7 by the tooth 62 which forces the pallet 7 to stop at the bottom of the tooth 62 and the blocker 6 to abut against a locking pin 63 as shown in FIG. figure 11 . From this moment on blocker 6 - more precisely its branch 10 - is held against the limit stop 63 with a certain force. This is a safety device for holding the jammer while the rocker exerts its additional oscillation arc, a device called a pull which opposes a resistance to the release of the pallet 7 during shocks applied to the timepiece . The draft is generally defined by an angle α formed by the rest plane 70 of the pallet 7 and a perpendicular 71 raised on a radius 72 of the blocker, at the point of contact 73 of the tooth 60 and the pallet 7 (see FIG. figure 2 ).

The figure 11 shows again that the spout 21 of the probe 20 is out of the notch 22. It can be seen that in this situation the spout 21 which terminates the probe 20 is arranged to be stationary close to the circular periphery 24 of the small plate 23 but without touching it. latest. The trays 4 and 23 are therefore completely free to go through their additional oscillation, alternating in the direction of the arrow and then alternating in the opposite direction, after which a cycle starts again with the situation presented in FIG. figure 5 .

On remarquera pour finir que l'entaille 22 présente une ouverture en forme de V. Le flanc d'entrée ou descendant 80 devra être conformé pour ne pas gêner l'introduction du bec 21 quand la palette de repos 7se dégage de la roue d'échappement 2.Finally, it will be noted that the notch 22 has a V-shaped opening. The inlet or descending flank 80 must be shaped so as not to impede the introduction of the spout 21 when the pallet of rest 7 disengages from the spur wheel. exhaust 2.

Similarly, the exit flank or upright 25 must be shaped so as to be sure that at the end of the impulse function, the rest pallet 7 is on the trajectory of a tooth of the escape wheel in order to intercept and stop it.
