Abstract

Die Erfindung betrifft eine Vorrichtung zum Ersetzen des Luftsauerstoffes durch ein Inertgas z.B. N2 aus der zumindest einen laminaren Luftgrenzschicht (3) von in Transportrichtung (2) bewegten Substraten (1), beispielsweise schnell laufenden Materialbahnen mit einer nur zu dem Substrat hin offenen und ansonsten von dem umgebenden Außenraum (40) abgeschlossenen ersten Kammer (41), die im Bereich ihrer in Transportrichtung (2) vorderen und sich quer zu dieser erstreckenden Abschlußkante eine vordere Koronaelektrode (5) für eine hohe Gleichsapannung mit einer vorderen Gegenelektrode (7) auf der anderen Seite (42) des Substrats (1) und die in Transportrichtung (2) hinter der vorderen Koronaelektrode (5) auf derselben Seite des Substrats (1) wie diese an der hinteren, sich ebenfalls quer zu der Transportrichtung (2) erstreckenden weiteren Abschlußkante eine weitere Koronaelektrode (6) für eine hohe Gleichsapannung mit einer weiteren Gegenelektrode (8) auf der anderen Seite (42) des Substrats (1) aufweist, und mit einer Einrichtung zum Zuführen des Inertgases (15). Die Erfindung zeichnet sich dadurch aus, daß die Einrichtung zum Zuführen des Inertgases (15) im Bereich des in Transportrichtung (2) unmittelbar hinter dem Elektronen/Ionenstrom (9) der weiteren Koronaelektrode (6) sich ausbildenden Unterdruckgebiets (12) mündet.
