Claims (7)

  1. A side wall of a railroad vehicle, in particular a freight car, having an upper hinging mechanism for a sliding wall (6,6'), which side wall has a wall opening closeable by at least two sliding walls (6,6') disposed longitudinally in line and opening alternately, and each sliding wall (6,6') has at least two rollers (8,8') that are guided in a first guide track (9) and are moveable into or out of a closed position, and in the region of each roller (8,8') in the closed position of the sliding wall (6,6') there is disposed a parallelogram linkage (2, 3, 5) consisting of two pivoted levers (2,5) and a bridge (3) which interconnects said pivoted levers and to which the first guide track (9) is attached, one of said pivoted levers (2, 5) being fixed to a shaft (1) common to all parallelogram linkages (2, 3, 5) and mounted on the vehicle body, which first guide track (9) can be swung between a lowered position and a raised position, the directions of the axes of rotation of said rollers (8, 8') remaining substantially constant when a sliding wall (6, 6') is swiveled out from the closed position, characterized in that each sliding wall (6, 6') has on its upper edge a hood (10) that at least partially covers the parallelogram linkage (2, 3, 5), to which hood there is attached a second guide track (7) which aligns with the raised position of the first guide track (9) of the opened sliding wall (6).
  2. A side wall of a railroad vehicle as defined in claim 1, characterized in that said parallelogram linkage (2, 3, 5) is mounted in an at least partially open roof support (4) on a railroad vehicle, and the opening of said roof support (4) is substantially covered by said hood (10) in the lowered position of said parallelogram linkage.
  3. A side wall of a railroad vehicle as defined in claim 1 or claim 2, characterized in that each roller (8) has an axis extending substantially parallel to the track plane and said first guide track (9) and said second guide track (7) each have two partition walls (7a, 7b, 9a, 9b) parallel to said axis.
  4. A side wall of a railroad vehicle as defined in any one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that said first guide track (9) and said second guide track (7) each have a U-shaped cross section.
  5. A side wall of a railroad vehicle as defined in any one of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the movement of said parallelogram linkage in the raised position is restricted by a stop (1a).
  6. A side wall of a railroad vehicle as defined in claim 5, characterized in that said shaft (1) of said parallelogram linkage (2, 3, 5) functions as said stop.
  7. A side wall of a railroad vehicle as defined in any one of claims 1 to 6, characterized in that said rollers (8) are arranged in pairs and the axes of the rollers (8) in a pair extend in directions that are at right angles to each other.
