- a major problem with prior art metal construction forms is that in either the open unjoined condition or the welded condition, they are subject to collapse and more costly to produce. Applicant's metal forms are stronger and may be joined together by automatic devices, such as pneumatic guns so that 20 to 30 percent less metal is used in building a structure. Further, the combination of at least one reinforcing rib 26 and/or at least one strength indent 28 in combination with the reinforcing ridge 10 of the present invention results in a significantly stronger metal form. This is true no matter what gauge material is used, i.e. 16, 18, and 20 gauge or the like. In the construction industry for example, the construction of a truss includes tension web and compression web members.
- Applicant's invention results in a rigid web member which is much better able to resist compression. Therefore, Applicant's invention results in a reduction of the number of compression web members required in the construction of a truss.

Claims (18)
- Abschnitt eines steifen tafelförmigen Materials (12), welches derart in eine rechteckige Gestalt gebogen ist, dass es ein steifes Element für Fachwerkskonstruktionen ausbildet, wobei das tafelförmige Materialerste und zweite Kanten (16, 20);einen Verstärkungssteg (10) in einer ersten Seite der rechteckigen Gestalt undeine Verstärkungsrippe (26) in einer zweiten dem Verstärkungssteg (10) gegenüberliegenden Seite aufweist,eine kurze mit der ersten Kante verbundene Verlängerung (14) umfasst;eine lange Verlängerung (18) umfasst, die länger ist als die kurze Verlängerung (14) und mit der zweiten Kante verbunden und gebogen ist, um einen Verriegelungsschlitz (22) auszubilden, der die kurze Verlängerung aufnimmt und zurückhält,
das tafelförmige Material ferner mindestens einen durch es hindurchgehenden Nagel oder Schraube aufweist, welche somit die dritte und vierte Seite der rechteckigen Gestalt verbindet, welche sich beide zwischen der ersten und zweiten Seite erstrecken. - Erfindung nach Anspruch 1, welche ferner Vorder- und Hinterflächen auf den kurzen (14) und langen (18) Verlängerungen umfasst und bei der die Vorderfläche der langen Verlängerung gebogen ist, um im Wesentlichen die Vorderfläche der kurzen Verlängerung zu bedecken und teilweise die Hinterfläche der kurzen Verlängerung zu bedecken.
- Erfindung nach Anspruch 2, bei der die lange Verlängerung (18) etwa doppelt so lang ist wie der kurze Abschnitt und die lange Verlängerung (18) im Wesentlichen die gesamte Vorderfläche der kurzen Verlängerung (14) und etwa eine Hälfte der Hinterfläche der kurzen Verlängerung (14) bedeckt.
- Erfindung nach Anspruch 1, die zwei Verstärkungsrippen (26) in der zweiten Seite gegenüber dem Verstärkungssteg (10) umfasst.
- Erfindung nach Anspruch 1, die ferner mindestens eine Verstärkungskerbe (28) in der Seite benachbart dem Verstärkungssteg (10) umfasst.
- Erfindung nach Anspruch 5, die zwei Verstärkungskerben (28) umfasst, wobei eine Verstärkungskerbe in jeder Seite benachbart dem Verstärkungssteg (10) angeordnet ist.
- Erfindung nach Anspruch 5, die zwei Verstärkungskerben (28) in jeder Seite benachbart dem Verstärkungssteg (10) umfasst.
- Erfindung nach Anspruch 5, die ein Paar Verstärkungsrippen (26) in der zweiten Seite gegenüber dem Verstärkungssteg (10) umfasst.
- Erfindung nach Anspruch 5, die ein Paar Verstärkungsrippen (26) in der zweiten Seite gegenüber dem Verstärkungssteg (10) und ein Paar Verstärkungskerben (28) umfasst, wobei eine Verstärkungskerbe in jeder Seite benachbart dem Verstärkungssteg (10) angeordnet ist.
- Erfindung nach Anspruch 5, die ein Paar Verstärkungsrippen (26) in der zweiten Seite gegenüber dem Verstärkungssteg (10) und zwei Paar Verstärkungskerben (28) umfasst, wobei ein Paar Verstärkungskerben in jeder Seite benachbart dem Verstärkungssteg (10) angeordnet ist.
- Erfindung nach Anspruch 1, in der das steife Material Blech ist.
- Verfahren zum Ausbilden eines Abschnitts aus steifem Material wie in Anspruch 1 definiert, umfassend die Schritte:Formen eines steifen tafelförmigen Materials (12) mit ersten und zweiten unverbundenen Kanten (16, 20) in eine rechteckige Gestalt, um ein steifes Element für Fachwerkskonstruktionen auszubilden;Formen einer kurzen Verlängerung (14) an der ersten unverbundenen Kante;Formen eine langen Verlängerung (18), die länger ist als die kurze Verlängerung (14), an der zweiten unverbundenen Kante;Zusammenbringen der ersten und zweiten unverbundenen Kanten (16, 20) und Biegen der langen Verlängerung (18) um die kurze Verlängerung (14), um einen Verbindungs-Verriegelungsschlitz (22) auszubilden, so dass die ersten und zweiten unverbundenen Kanten miteinander verbunden sind und einen Verstärkungssteg (10) in der ersten Seite der rechteckigen Gestalt ausbilden;Formen mindestens einer Verstärkungsrippe (26) in der zweiten Seite gegenüber dem Verstärkungssteg (10) undHindurchführen mindestens eines Nagels oder einer Schrauben durch die dritte und vierte Seite der rechteckigen Gestalt, welche sich beide zwischen der ersten und zweiten Seite erstrecken, so dass die dritte und vierte Seite mittels des Nagels oder der Schraube verbunden sind.
- Verfahren nach Anspruch 12, ferner umfassend die Schritte des Formens der kurzen und langen Verlängerung (14, 18) mit Vorder- und Hinterflächen, so dass, wenn die unverbundenen Kanten miteinander verbunden werden, die Vorderfläche der langen Verlängerung (18) im Wesentlichen die Vorderfläche der kurzen Verlängerung (14) bedeckt und die Hinterfläche der kurzen Verlängerung (14) teilweise bedeckt.
- Verfahren nach Anspruch 13, ferner umfassend den Schritt des Formens der langen Verlängerung (18) derart, dass er etwa doppelt so lang ist wie die kurze Verlängerung (14) und im Wesentlichen die Vorderfläche der kurzen Verlängerung (14) und etwa eine Hälfte der Hinterfläche der kurzen Verlängerung (14) bedeckt, wenn die unverbundenen Kanten zusammengebracht werden.
- Verfahren nach Anspruch 12, umfassend den Schritt des Formens von zwei Verstärkungsrippen (26) in der zweiten Seite gegenüber dem Verstärkungssteg (10).
- Verfahren nach Anspruch 12, ferner umfassend den Schritt des Formens mindestens einer Verstärkungskerbe (28) in einer Seite benachbart dem Verstärkungssteg (10).
- Verfahren nach Anspruch 16, umfassend den Schritt des Formens eines Paars von Verstärkungskerben (28), wobei jeweils eine in jeder Seite benachbart dem Verstärkungssteg (10) angeordnet ist.
- Verfahren nach Anspruch 16, umfassend den Schritt des Formens von zwei Paaren von Verstärkungskerben (28), wobei ein Paar in jeder Seite benachbart dem Verstärkungssteg (10) angeordnet ist.
