Cargo-handling apparatus travelling on rails for the combined handling of containers and bulk material in sea ports and docks, having a gantry-like frame structure bearing the load lifting members, the rail travelling mechanisms or rail travelling mechanism aggregates being articulated on the gantry supports of the frame structure in an oscillating manner, wherein in addition to the rail travelling mechanisms or rail travelling mechanism aggregates (4) at least four controllable tyre travelling mechanisms or tyre travelling mechanism aggregates (17) which can be coupled and uncoupled can be articulated on the gantry supports (3) via balancing beams (6) symmetrically with respect to the vehicle longitudinal axis (L) and transverse axis (Q), which gantry supports permit the cargo-handling apparatus (1) to be manoeuvred on the tyre travelling mechanisms (17) when the rail travelling mechanism (10) is lifted up from the rails (20),
    characterised in that a supporting device comprising supporting cylinders (12) is provided, and in that when the tyre travelling mechanisms or tyre travelling mechanism aggregates (17) are coupled and/or when the supporting cylinders (12) of the supporting device (11) are extended, the ends of the balancing beams (6) remote from the tyre travelling mechanism (17) and supporting device (11) can be placed against stops (19) receiving the supporting moment.
  2. Cargo-handling apparatus as claimed in Claim 1, characterised in that the tyre travelling mechanisms or tyre travelling mechanism aggregates (17) can be pivoted about vertical axes (18).
  3. Cargo-handling apparatus as claimed in Claim 1 and 2, characterised in that the rail travelling mechanisms or rail travelling mechanism aggregates (4) are connected to the gantry supports (3) in an oscillating manner by means of oscillating cranks (8) and balancing beans (6), and in that the tyre travelling mechanisms or tyre travelling mechanism aggregates (17) can be articulated on the balancing beams (6).
  4. Cargo-handling apparatus as claimed in any one of Claims 1 to 3,
    characterised in that supporting devices (11) are allocated to the tyre travelling mechanisms or tyre travelling mechanism aggregates (17), which supporting devices support the cargo-handling apparatus (1) in its working position by means of supporting cylinders (12) which act in the vertical direction.
  5. Cargo-handling apparatus as claimed in any one of Claims 1 to 4,
    characterised in that the supporting devices (11) are attached to the balancing beam (6).
  6. Cargo-handling apparatus as claimed in any one of Claims 1 to 5,
    characterised in that the supporting devices (11) are disposed in each case on both sides of the vertical longitudinal central planes of the balancing beams (6).
  7. Cargo-handling apparatus as claimed in any one of Claims 1 to 6,
    characterised in that the cargo-handling apparatus (1) can be lifted by means of the supporting cylinders (12) for the purposes of coupling and uncoupling the tyre travelling mechanisms or tyre travelling mechanism aggregates (17).
