Definitions

  • the present invention relates to the packaging operations of products moving on a mechanical chain.
  • the invention relates to a method of packaging calibrated products such as fruit, which have been sorted to be grouped into batches of quality and uniform size.
  • the invention also relates to a system for implementing such a method.
  • Fruit harvesting, sorting and packaging operations have long been carried out on a scale and according to artisanal methods, due to the seasonal nature of the fruit and vegetable activity and difficulty automating tasks involving appreciation of criteria such as size or degree of ripeness of the fruit.
  • grade machines are provided with several outputs for fruit, each output from the grader delivering fruits in a given size range.
  • traceability means can combine in a memory central of a fruit data information system (size, origin, etc.), operator identification information packaging, to allow a quantitative exploitation of information on packaging operations and operators (individual operator performance in particular).
  • the means of collecting data as mentioned above constitute progress making it possible to improve the efficiency of sorting and packaging of fruit.
  • An object of the invention is to further improve the efficiency monitoring these operations, giving access to detailed information additional.
  • Another object of the invention is not to weigh down the course said operations by the addition of data collection means.
  • the invention aims to allow packaging operators to easily change the packaging line and follow one another packaging line, without inducing binding manipulations to declare in a tracking system.
  • the whole is represented by the reference 10 a grader able to sort fruit according to their and to supply each of outputs 11 to 16 of the grader with fruits sorted according to a size range associated with said exit from the sizer.
  • a respective packaging line 21 to 26 Downstream of each of these outputs 11 to 16 of the grader is arranged a respective packaging line 21 to 26 which includes means of transporting fruit sorted by uniform size.
  • These conveyance means may include conveyor belts or any another known type of conveying means.
  • a packaging operator 01 to 06 is associated with each line, which place the fruit from the grader in a package.
  • the packages can be of various types and formats.
  • the barcode reader and the optical sensor of each line is connected to a concentrator box 300, 301 via a link 31 to 36 for routing to the data concentrator digital or analog collected by the reader and the sensor, by example a wired connection.
  • Each concentrator 300, 301 includes a memory allowing to store the information transmitted by the readers and system sensors, with their acquisition time.
  • the system according to the invention can thus include a number any packaging line, each line being associated with an outlet of a grader, several lines can be grouped on one or multiple data concentrators.
  • the system thus comprises six packing lines 21 to 26, the first three lines 21 to 23 being connected by links 31 to 33 to a first data concentrator 300, while the other three lines 24 to 26 are connected by links 34 to 36 to a second concentrator 301.
  • the concentrator (s) are themselves connected by a link 40 which can be of wired type to a computer 50 for data storage and system management.
  • the computer 50 is also connected to the grader 10 by a link 60 also making it possible to route data between the computer and the grader.
  • a management operator When the system starts, a management operator provides information computer memory with the ratings assigned to the different outputs of the grader 10. The software then appears on the computer screen the calibrator outputs with the associated calibers.
  • the ranges of caliber assigned to the different outputs of the grading machine can be freely defined by the management operator.
  • the management operator can also enter into the memory of computer 50 additional data on fruit sorted by grader (constitution of a "batch" which corresponds to an origin geographic - harvest plot - and at a given harvest date ...), and / or on the packaging used for each of the packaging lines (in particular name of the distributor for whose account the fruit is packed).
  • the management operator then has the option of selecting from another area of computer memory the types of packaging that will used by packaging operators.
  • said memory area includes a list of packaging likely to be used, with their characteristics (number contained fruit, geometric characteristics as mentioned above, etc.).
  • the management operator can update this list by adding new types of packaging and modifying their associated characteristics.
  • This calibrator output label carries information to identify the grader output, as well as a sequential number incremented with each label and making said label unique.
  • the apposition on the packaging of the operator label can be replaced by affixing a distinguishing sign of the packaging operator (serial number, initials or other), for example with felt.
  • the packaging operator after completing the filling of a packaging with fruit of a uniform size, send said packaging on a conveyor belt from the packaging line, so this one is routed to the end of the packaging line.
  • the information thus collected - operator information packing and exit of grading carried by the two labels of packaging, and packaging characteristic information determined by sensors C1 to C6 - are transmitted to concentrators 300, 301 which then route that information to the computer memory 50.
  • the management operator can program in the memory of the computer 50 of the types of packaging determined for at least some outputs from the grader; in this case those of the sensors C1 to C6 corresponding are deactivated, type recognition packaging is then superfluous.
  • the library of computer memory has detailed information about the packaging used (number of fruits normally contained per packaging, type of packaging - bulk / alveoli / basket ..).
  • packaging data of packaging “subtypes”, which are a variant of a type of packaging already stored in said library.
  • Such a variant may correspond to a parameter such as the type of packaging, the average number of fruits per packaging, etc., the others packaging parameters being otherwise identical.
  • packaging subtypes can be defined at will in the computer memory, by modifying any parameter of a packaging already memorized or by adding additional information (destination of lot, variety of fruits ).
  • This information is thus grouped together, with their time acquisition and information to identify the packaging line, in the hub memory.
  • the data thus gathered are transmitted, always in time real, by the concentrators to the management computer 50 by the link 40.
  • a hub cannot transmit its data in real time to the management computer (connection problem, computer power supply management, memory, ...), said data is stored in the memory of said concentrator, the latter reiterating at regular intervals its transmission attempt until the data is actually received by the management computer.
  • said concentrators are provided with a dedicated buffer battery individually.
  • the system in association with the collection of information by the readers L1 to L6 or sensors C1 to C6, the system memorizes the date and the time of acquisition of said information thanks to internal clocks integrated into the reading and acquisition means L1 to L6 and C1 to C6, the time stamp being stored in the file mentioned above, the information thus time-stamped can be accessed at any time and edited by the management operator.
  • system according to the invention can also perform grouping of information, for example by defining batches (such as mentioned above) within which the characteristics of fruits and packaging will be stored in the memory of the computer.
  • the caliber information entered by the management operator in the computer memory can be defined from a set of ranges of predefined and standardized calibers, or by values desired adapted to the treatment of a specific batch in which one wishes distinguish specific caliber ranges.
  • the calibrator outputs assigned to non-calibers dominant it is possible that the number of fruits of this size not dominant for a given lot is not enough to fill a package.
  • the same packaging can contain fruits of two or more lots.
  • An important advantage of the system according to the invention is its great flexibility of operation.
  • the same packaging operator may in the same work day change packaging line at will, follow-up activity being ensured by individual packaging operator labels that this operator sticks on the packaging he treats on the different lines packaging.
  • the reliable implementation of the system according to the invention is perfectly accessible to low-skilled packaging operators: the said operators must only carry out the sticking of labels on the packaging in combination with the packaging itself.
