Abstract

La présente invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif permettant de régler un rapport de transmission d'une transmission montée dans la chaîne cinématique d'une automobile, lors de l'activation d'un système régulateur de vitesse adaptatif (système ACC). Une grandeur théorique est prédéfinie lors de l'activation de ce système régulateur de vitesse adaptatif. Au moins le moteur d'entraînement du véhicule est commandé en fonction de cette grandeur théorique. Cette invention est caractérisée en ce que, si un premier état de fonctionnement existe, cette grandeur théorique ou une valeur dérivée de cette grandeur théorique est limitée. Le réglage du rapport de transmission est alors effectué en fonction de la grandeur limitée ou en fonction de la valeur limitée. Si un second état de fonctionnement existe, le réglage du rapport de transmission est effectué en fonction de la grandeur théorique ou en fonction de la valeur. Cette invention permet d'éviter les opérations de rétrogradation superflues et inconfortables lors du fonctionnement du système ACC, sans avoir à renoncer à une forte accélération qui pourrait éventuellement être nécessaire.
