Definitions
- the invention relates to a method and an injection mold for producing a configured substrate with an optically readable data carrier according to the preamble of claims 1 and 7. Furthermore, the invention relates to the application of the method and the injection mold.
- the CD are produced in an injection molding process in which the CD is molded in a space which is formed between a die and a mold plate.
- the data is transferred to the data carrier via the matrix, which is preferably referred to in the technical language as the master disk.
- the data or information is stored in the form of minimal depressions in the blank of the CD, the substrate, which are in the range from 50 to 250 nm.
- the conventional spraying process of the polycarbonate substrates is carried out at high speed, in that the liquefied mass is injected centrally and fills the injection mold in a radial, circular manner.
- No. 5,316,466 specifies a device for injection molding CD's, which has an air inlet in the vicinity of the outer holder, through which air is introduced into the central region of the injection mold, the air inlet communicating with radially outer air channels. This is intended to introduce the molten material evenly into the mold and to avoid deformations on the finished CD.
- the CH 688 996 A5 specifies a business card made of plastic with a printed top with directly visually readable information, the bottom of which is provided with electronically processed data that can be reproduced optically or acoustically by means of a CD drive, the card being a means of central recording in a CD drive.
- a number of centering cams projecting downward from the underside are specified as such means, and are arranged in such a way that they rest in a CD drive on the centering attachment for mini-CDs. Furthermore, it is stated that the shape of the business card is cut from a CD is produced.
- the centering cams can also be stamped in the same punching process.
- the invention has for its object to provide a method and an injection mold for producing a configured substrate with an optically readable data carrier of the type mentioned, the substrate deviating from the circular shape of a normal CD or mini CD, preferably a non-circular outer contour having.
- the substrate should be economically producible with little technical effort.
- the task consists in specifying an advantageous application of the method and the injection mold.
- the invention solves the problem for the method by the features of claim 1.
- the problem is solved by the features of claim 7.
- the application of the method or the injection mold is specified in claim 11.
- the essence of the invention is that while maintaining essential parts of an injection mold, including the master plate, and essential steps of the method for producing a conventional normal CD, only with a modification of the mold plate, the formation of a substrate with a special outer contour is made possible .
- the mold plate is arranged axially opposite the master plate and interacts with it during the injection molding process.
- the form plate determines the desired specific outer shape of the configured substrate with a data carrier.
- the data area is limited to an area that lies within the minimum radial distance of the outer edge of the substrate from the drive opening.
- the outer contour of the substrate can be chosen in any variety and is only limited by the uni length range on a normal CD. It is essential that the configuration of the substrate is selected so that the center of gravity lies in the axis of the drive opening. Specific radial designs of the outer contour can be used for this or also specific shapes for shifting specific mass concentrations by thickening or weakening parts of the substrate.
- the laser reflection layer is essentially limited to the area above the data area. However, it is also easily possible to cover further areas of the substrate with them and to make these areas visually visible during the further coating with the protective lacquer and writing and / or picture elements.
- the application of the invention can be extended to all conceivable forms for CD, CDR, CDRW or DVD provided that the data or information can be read for corresponding drives.
- the substrate can be made with or without visually perceptible information.
- the substrate can also be combined with other elements, e.g. a glued cardboard card that can be folded over the substrate and / or is removable.
- An arbitrarily configured substrate is to be produced with an optically readable data carrier.
- Figure 1 shows the required data carrier from the top.
- Figure 2 shows the same disk from the bottom.
- FIG. 3 shows the front view of the mold plate for the formation of the substrate according to FIG. 1.
- FIG. 4 shows the view of the associated master plate with the contour position of the substrate according to FIG. 3.
- FIG. 1 shows an example of a company presentation card as configured substrate 1.
- the name 3 of a company is visually legible (here the name of the Applicant of the present invention) and any other visually perceptible information.
- FIG. 2 shows the underside 4 of the substrate 1 according to FIG. 1.
- the drive opening 5 On the underside 4 is concentric to an opening, the drive opening 5, a support and drive surface 6 and radially outside of it is the surface of the data area 7 located on the top 2 the data or information readable in a CD drive.
- the usual surface designs of a mini CD are included.
- the name 3 is combined with a company logo 9, which requires an effective bulge 8, into which the image of the company logo 9 is later printed on the top 2.
- This bulge 8 inevitably leads to a mass shift from the center of gravity of a conventional data carrier, e.g. a business card. This causes unbalance when rotating in the CD drive and the legibility of the data carrier is no longer guaranteed. Therefore, the actual center of gravity 10 of the substrate 1 was determined and the center of the drive opening 5 was placed in the center of gravity 10.
- the dashed line 11 indicates how the outer edge of the substrate 1 has been shifted in relation to a symmetrical card for mass compensation.
- the data area 7 on the upper side 2 is limited to a minimum distance of, for example, 0.5 mm from the outer edge.
- the sputter mask can be placed on the substrate 1 in the process cycle.
- a centering collar 14 Coaxial to the drive opening 5 there are two circular parts 14 'and 14' 'of a centering collar 14 with a height of 0.55 mm, for example, outside the data area 7, the outer edge of which has a diameter which corresponds to the diameter of a mini CD. Via this centering collar 14, the finished substrate 1 can be easily positioned in the slot of a conventional PC drive.
- Figure 3 shows the front view of a mold plate 16, which corresponds in its outer configuration to the mold plate for the production of a normal CD. It is arranged in the injection mold in such a way that it can easily be exchanged for another mold plate.
- FIG. 4 shows, as a counterpart to the molding plate 16, the master plate 17 or die, which is held in a receptacle 18.
- the form plate 16 and the master plate 17 lie in an axis 19 which also corresponds to the center of the master plate 17 and thus the center of the data area 7 'on the master plate 17.
- the center of gravity 10 of the finished substrate and the axis 19 lie in one axis.
- the Auiiidlnue 18 and the present exemplary embodiment also the injection opening 20th
- the substrate is produced in such a way that on the mold plate 16 in the position described above Axis 19 or drive opening 5 sealing lips 21 are formed, which correspond to the outer contour of the substrate 1. Furthermore, an edge 22 for defining the drive opening 5 is formed similar to a sealing lip. This edge 22 defines the drive opening 5 in such a way that the edge 22 of polycarbonate can be overcome during the injection molding process, but the substrate thickness at this edge is so small that the inner material can be easily broken out subsequently when the substrate 1 is removed from the injection mold and the drive opening 5 is created.
- annular recess 23 is made in the mold plate 16, which is used to configure the centering collar 14 (14 'and 14' ').
- a sputtering mask which is specially adapted to the outer shape of the substrate 1, is placed on the top 2 in a sputtering system in such a way that it is on all sides, including the surface at point 12, on the subslial 1 ABSLÜL L.
- the free areas of the sputter mask cover the entire data area 7 and, for example, the area on which the company logo 9 is later printed on the top.
- An aluminum layer is sputtered onto the masked substrate 1 as a laser reflection layer, so that the depressions in the data area reflect the laser beam to the required extent and thereby influence it, as a result of which the laser beam modulation can be defined as data or information in the CD device.
- a protective lacquer is applied to the laser reflection layer and the visually perceptible information name 3 and company logo 9 is printed on by means of screen printing.
- the protective lacquer and also the further layer structure by means of screen printing also has the advantage that the data on the finished data carrier is enclosed safely and with high quality inside the plate and can only be read from the underside through the polycarbonate.
