Definitions

  • the invention relates to a method of cutting bands tying the bundles or stacks of labels in which the band is cut according to a transversal cutting line in which before the cut of the band is carried out the same is moved away from the stack in the area where the cut takes place.
  • the bound stacks are generally supported by conveyor means that pick-up the same from a supply line and take them to the cutting station.
  • the means for deflecting part of the blanks of the stack rearward are associated with the cutting station that is substantially stationary, the means for realigning the stack must be provided for on the conveyor itself, and must be such that they can be activated or de-activated to allow for the space for deflecting part of the blanks of the stack.
  • the cutting station must have means for the deflection of part of the blanks of the stack, as well as means to check the deflection during the realignment cycle of the stack after the cutting of the stack has taken place and these means must operate alternating each other, substantially in the same section and in a synchronized manner with the means of re-alignment on the conveyor.
  • the invention aims at realizing a method of cutting the tie bands of the type described at the beginning that allows for a positive fast cut, and without the danger of ruining the labels or the blanks of the stack tied by the same band, the whole allowing for the realization of the method with relative simple means, of little space and low cost.
  • the invention attains the above mentioned purposes, in that the moving away of the band in the cutting station of the same is obtained by means of a lifting of the band from the stack in direction of the cutting knife.
  • Such a method can provide for different alternatives.
  • a first alternative provides that the lifting takes place thanks to a traction of the band in direction of moving away from the corresponding side of the stack.
  • the traction can be applied on one part of the band provided an a side of the preestablished position of the cutting line, or on parts of the band located on both the sides of the preset position of the cutting line.
  • Such a traction can be exerted by suction.
  • a second alternative provides that the lifting from the corresponding side of the stack takes place thanks to the exertion of a warping pressure on the side of the part of the band to be subjected to the cut that is turned towards the stack and the said warping takes place in direction of the cutting knife.
  • a first variant can consist in the execution of the deflection of part of the blanks in the stack foreseen at a level slightly above or below the cutting line, in direction of the cutting knife, whereas the cut is carried out along a cutting line at a level directly above or below of the deflected part of the stack, in correspondence to which the band is lifted from the stack.
  • a perfecting of the above modality consists in the fact of deflecting part of the blanks of the stack on the two sides of the preestablished position of the cutting line, forming a throat between the lines of deflection in which the corresponding part of the band is tensioned on one throat.
  • the steps of locking or freeing the stack can be carried out, by means of clamping and releasing to maintain a preestablished position and a preestablished alignment of the same, and to allow for the deflection and realignment of the stack itself.
  • the method provides for the steps of realignment of the stack or pack after the execution of the cutting of the band.
  • the realignment is not carried out only in the sense of re-establishing and compensate the initial deflection of part of the labels or blanks for carrying out the cutting of the band, but also according to directions transversal to this one, for example in a direction parallel to the cutting line.
  • Such realignment is indispensable for inserting the stack into the hopper of containment and feeding of the blanks to the manufacturing machine.
  • the invention relates to a device for the realization of the said method that comprises:
  • the clamping means are formed advantageously by suction nozzles acting on the band, along the cutting line and at least in one section deflected laterally and at a certain distance from the said cutting line.
  • the suction nozzles are provided for in two separate sections each one arranged on one of the two sides of the cutting line at a certain distance from the same.
  • the invention relates to device for the realization of said method that comprises:
  • the pusher means of realignment of the bundle or stack are provided in combination with surfaces for checking the realignment on the opposite side, or on the side of the bundle or stack on which act the means of deflections.
  • the means of deflection and the means of realignment and/or checking the deflection and the pusher means of realignment are such whereby they act alternating between each other.
  • the device has advantageously also means of realignment in one or more directions substantially parallel or in any case with a considerable component parallel to the cutting according to the geometric shape of the plan of the label or the blank.
  • the invention provides for means of alignment also in direction of the cutting line itself.
  • the device besides has in combination with the means explained above also means for clamping of the bundle or stack of labels or blanks in the perfectly realigned condition and that are activated after the realignment cycle and remain activated during the cycle of discharging or of exit from the cutting station.
  • the means of deflection of the labels or the blanks in order to lift the band from the stack in the area of the cutting line, the means of checking the realignment of the labels or blanks relative to the part of the same subjected to deflection and the means of clamping of the stack in the condition of deflection during the cutting and realignment of the stack as well as the drive actuators of said means are integrated in the means feeding the bundle or stack to the cutting station.
  • a preferred example of execution provides that the said feeding means be put together in their most complex form, but not necessarily limiting as it is possible to also provide for sub-combinations, by a conveyor bracket supported movable along a guide on a path at least two dimensional, preferably three dimensional and the said bracket has a ledge of support of the bundle or of the stack, preferably designed to support the said bundle or stack in the mid section, a set of clamping pushers opposite to the ledge of support and that can be activated to move in two directions of approach and moving away from said ledge, a support plate of the side of the stack or of the bundle opposite to the one along which the band is cut and at least one oscillating pusher, preferably a pair of oscillating pushers, respectively on the two sides of the support plate of the stack or bundle on the side opposite to the cutting section of the band, the said pushers have a flat surface with at least one deflecting projection or with two deflecting projections in a preestablished position and such, whereby the pusher extends itself in active position
  • the cutting unit that carries the cutting knife, the means of clamping and/or the means of realignment are fitted movable transversally to the cutting line in the two directions and in a measure substantially corresponding to the desired lifting of the band from the stack or bundle of blanks.

  • These are connected to a suction source thanks to conduits 31 and are activated at the moment of contact with the band F.
  • the box 4 is moved backwards in a preestablished measure along the guide 5, whereas the band F remains firmly retained by the suction nozzles 30, whereby thanks to the dimensional tolerances and its intrinsic elasticity, the same lifts itself off the side of the stack P facing towards the knife 11.
  • the same is retained against the pull off by the feeder/pick-up 2 by means of clamping between the side of support 102 and the pusher means 21.
  • the suction nozzles can be deactivated, whereas the box 4 can be returned in the stop position with the stack P to carry out the eventual cycles of realignment of the stack, when the same also carries such means of realignment.

  • This deflection results in the formation of a projection P' on the front side of the stack that determines the lifting of the band F on both sides of the projection P'.
  • the part of the blanks that is deflected is the one designed to form a projection P' on only one side of the cutting line, in particular below the cutting line.
