Definitions

  • the invention relates to an ironing machine.
  • a rotary ironing cylinder comprising a rotary ironing cylinder, a tube fixed arranged coaxially inside the cylinder, heating means interposed between the cylinder and the tube, as well as means ensuring circulation air, in closed circuit, inside the cylinder.
  • the ironing machine conforms to the invention can be used in all cases where relatively large quantities of flat laundry such as only sheets, tablecloths, towels, etc. have to be ironed frequently.
  • relatively large quantities of flat laundry such as only sheets, tablecloths, towels, etc. have to be ironed frequently.
  • places of privileged use one will quote in particular the hospitals, pensions, hotels, restaurants, etc.
  • the length of ironing cylinder defines width maximum of ironed laundry items.
  • the widest parts which are made ironing always have a width significantly less than this maximum width. it means that for a given piece of laundry, a only part of the cylinder is in contact with this piece when it is ironed.
  • the ironing cylinder is usually heated uniformly along its entire length, the region of cylinder not used when ironing a piece of laundry tends to heat up relative to the ironing area.
  • the subject of the invention is precisely a equipped ironing machine, inside the cylinder ironing, air circulation means including cost is comparable to that of the means of circulation of air fitted to the machine described in the document FR-A-2 698 388, but whose design allows transfer the heat to where it is used.
  • an ironing machine comprising a rotary ironing cylinder, a fixed tube arranged coaxially inside the cylinder, means of heating housed in an intermediate space between the cylinder and tube, and circulation means air, ensuring air circulation, in circuit closed, inside the cylinder, characterized by the fact that the air circulation means are arranged to draw air into two end regions said space and to drive it back to a region central of said space.
  • the air circulation means equipping the ironing machine according to the invention take the heat where it is in excess to restore it where it is lacking.
  • the cylinder temperature of ironing is thus made relatively uniform over all its length, whatever the way insert the laundry items into the machine. All risk of accidental burning due to the existence of a hot spot on the ironing cylinder is so avoided, without the need to resort to a expensive technique.
  • the means of air circulation include two sets of openings suction tubes formed in the fixed tube, opposite the two end regions of said space, openings delivery formed in the fixed tube, opposite the central region of space, and means of ventilation placed inside the fixed tube, between each series of suction openings and the discharge openings.
  • the fixed tube delimits internally two separate areas separated by a middle partition substantially perpendicular to the axis of the tube.
  • Each of these zones then houses one of the means ventilation and opens into the intermediate space by one of the series of suction openings and by a series of discharge openings.
  • the means of heating are electric resistors oriented substantially along the axis of the tube.
  • the suction and backflow are then formed in the fixed tube substantially opposite these resistances.
  • the suction and delivery may include stamped tabs in the sheet forming the fixed tube and folded towards inside the latter. In this case, an adjustment can be done according to the conditions of use of the machine, more or less folding the tabs depending on the areas in which they are located.
  • the openings can be consisting of sash windows partially delimited by ferrules capable of being moved axially on the tube when an operator acts on pull tabs provided for this purpose.
  • the machine according to the invention is advantageously equipped with means for temperature detection placed outside the ironing cylinder, opposite the end regions of the aforementioned space.
  • the means of ventilation are then controlled by the detection means of temperature corresponding to them.
  • each means of ventilation can be activated when the temperature detected by the temperature detection means closest to this ventilation means exceeds a given high threshold, and stopped when the temperature drops below one given low threshold.
  • each means of ventilation can in particular be consisting of a fan or an axial circulator.
  • the assured flow by each of the fans can be modulated in temperature function, in the end region closest, either by changing the speed of fan rotation, either by changing the angle tilt of its fins.
  • the faired chassis of a ironing machine according to the invention is designated generally by reference 10.
  • the chassis 10 designed to rest on the floor by 12 feet, supports an ironing cylinder rotary 14 about a horizontal axis. More precisely, the ironing cylinder 14 rests on two rollers 16 mounted on horizontal axes and parallel carried by the chassis 10, so that rotate freely around these axes.
  • the cylinder of ironing 14 is a hollow metal cylinder, constituted for example by a sheet closed on herself.
  • the cylinder of ironing 14 is in contact with one or more endless belts 18 mounted on the chassis 10, at the outside of cylinder 14. More precisely, the endless belts 18 are supported and guided by a series of rollers 20 whose horizontal axes and are carried by chassis 10. More precisely, the axes of the rollers 20 are parallel to the axes of the rollers 16.
  • one of the rollers 20 is provided with means for tensioning the strips without end 18 and another of the rollers 20 is a driving roller, able to be rotated by a gearmotor (not shown).
  • the drive roller When the drive roller is driven in rotation, it carries with it the endless belts 18 in the direction of the arrows F1 in FIG. 1. Because that the endless bands 18 are applied against the ironing cylinder 14 on a large part of its circumference, the movement of the endless bands 18 in the direction of the arrows F1 results in a rotation of the ironing cylinder 14 in the same direction and at the same speed.
  • Ironing laundry items is made by inserting these parts between the cylinder ironing 14 and the endless belts 18, in the upper part of the machine.
  • the operator has at this effect of a carpet 22 for introducing the linen, the slightly inclined upper face is oriented according to a direction substantially tangential to the part upper part of cylinder 14, in the contact zone of ce-cylinder with endless belts 18.
  • a pressure roller 24 is generally placed between the introduction mat 22 and the start of the contact zone between the endless belts 18 and the ironing cylinder 14, so as to facilitate inserting laundry items by pressing them against the cylinder.
  • a laundry bin 26 can also be placed at the entrance to the introduction mat 22, for receiving laundry board.
  • the chassis 10 of the machine supports a another laundry bin 28 into which fall ironed items of laundry automatically.
  • the chassis 10 of the ironing machine supports two fixed discs 30 and 32 which seal each end of the ironing cylinder 14.
  • a fixed tube 34 is mounted coaxially with inside the ironing cylinder 14. More specifically, a first end of the fixed tube 34 is fixed on the fixed disc 30 and its opposite end is supported by the fixed disk 32. For this purpose, the end of the fixed tube 34 adjacent to the disc 32 is fixed on a flange 36 capable of sliding on a ferrule 38 fixed on the disc 32. This arrangement allows the differential expansions between the fixed tube 34 and the machine frame 10.
  • the fixed tube 34 is a metal tube which has in section the shape of a regular polygon. In the embodiment shown, this polygon has ten sides.
  • the ironing cylinder 14 and the fixed tube 34 delimit between them an intermediate space 40, annular shape.
  • This intermediate space 40 receives heating means constituted by resistors electrical 42.
  • These electrical resistors 42 are resistors of great length, oriented in parallel to the axis common to the ironing cylinder 14 and to the tube fixed 34 and whose ends are fixed respectively on the fixed disc 30 and on the flange 36.
  • the heating resistors 42 are placed opposite each side of the polygon formed in section by the fixed tube 34, except the lower side of this polygon.
  • Supports 44 regularly distributed, connect each electrical resistance 42 to the fixed tube 34 between the disc 30 and the flange 36.
  • means of air circulation are placed inside the cylinder ironing 14, so as to draw air from the space 40 end regions to return it in the central region of the same space.
  • Such a air circulation cools the ends of the cylinder and bring the heat taken from the part cylinder center. This helps to homogenize the temperature over the entire length of the cylinder, due to that its ends are necessarily in contact with fewer pieces of laundry than the part central, when using the machine. The creation of hot spots likely to burn the laundry is avoided.
  • the means of air circulation include two sets of openings 46 and 48 formed in the fixed tube 34 in face of the two end regions of space intermediate 40, from which have wishes to take air.
  • some of the suction openings 48 can also be formed on the flange 36 fixed to the end of the tube 34.
  • the air circulation means include in addition two series of discharge openings 50 and 52 formed in the fixed tube 34, opposite the part central of the intermediate space 40 which one desires warm up. More specifically, the two series discharge openings 50 and 52 are formed in the fixed tube 34 on either side of a partition median 54, which divides the space delimited inside of the fixed tube 34 in two substantially equal volumes.
  • the middle partition 54 is oriented in one direction substantially perpendicular to the axis of the tube 34 and located at equal distance from the disc 30 and the flange 36.
  • Each of the two volumes thus delimited by the central partition 54 inside the fixed tube 34 is itself divided into two chambers by partitions 56 and 58 parallel to this middle partition, interposed respectively between the suction openings 46 and the discharge openings 50 and between the suction openings 48 and the openings of refoulement 52.
  • the rooms located opposite suction openings 46 and 48 are designated respectively by the references 47 and 49 and the chambers located opposite the discharge openings 50 and 52 are respectively designated by references 51 and 53.
  • the partition 56 has an extended circular opening to the fixed disc 30 by a cylindrical tunnel 60 whose part closest to disk 30 is used to house a axial fan or circulator 62 forming a first means of ventilation.
  • This fan 62 whose axis is confused with that of the tube 34, is driven in rotation by an electric motor 64 mounted on the disc 30, outside the space delimited by the ironing cylinder 14.
  • the partition 58 comprises in its central part a circular opening extended towards the flange 36 by a cylindrical tunnel 66 of which the part closest to the flange 36 serves to accommodate an axial fan or circulator 68 forming a second means of ventilation.
  • the axis of this fan 68 is driven in rotation by an electric motor 70 mounted on the disc 32, outside the space delimited by the ironing cylinder 14.
  • the air contained in the ironing cylinder 14 is circulated in the direction of the arrows F2 on Figure 2 when the fans 62 and 68 are actuated.
  • the air contained in the two regions end of the intermediate space 40 located at face of the two series of suction openings 46 and 48, is transferred by the two fans 62 and 68 in rooms 47 and 49, through the openings aforementioned suction.
  • Fans 62 and 68 then push this air back into rooms 51 and 53, where it emerges in the central region of space 40 by the two series of delivery orifices 50 and 52.
  • the circulation of air by the fans 62 and 68 provide air flow relatively large which avoids any risk of formation of hot spots on the cylinder ironing, whatever the method of introducing pieces of linen adopted by the user.
  • the air flow can be module. This can be achieved either by varying the angle of inclination of the fan fins 62 and 68, either by varying the speed of rotation fans, acting on the motors electric 64 and 70.
  • partitions 56 and 58 The location of partitions 56 and 58 is determined so that when the introduction of pieces of relatively large items such as sheets is performed alternately on one side and the other of the ironing cylinder, approximately one third of the width of the laundry items considered is located in face of the suction openings 46 or 48 as appropriate.
  • the suction 46 and 48 and discharge 50 and 52 are formed in the fixed tube 34 substantially in face of the electrical resistors 42, that is to say in the central part of each side of the polygon regular formed in section by the tube, except for the lower side which carries no resistance.
  • the openings 46, 48, 50 and 52 are obtained by stamping in the sheet which constitutes the fixed tube 34. More precise, these openings include tabs stamped in the sheet and folded inwards fixed tube 34, in the direction facilitating the circulation of the air. This arrangement allows, if necessary, to adjust the dimensions of the openings, deviating more or less the tabs of the tube, depending on where they are find. Adaptation to demand can therefore be particularly simple and expensive.
  • the dimensions of the suction openings 46 and 48 and discharge 50, 52 can be adjusted by means of accessible adjustment means, for example from the face of the disc 30 facing outwards from the ironing cylinder 14.
  • the openings can then include a fixed part, cut directly from the tube 34 and a part movable parallel to the axis of this tube, so that be able to be more or less open by moving axial of this movable part, like windows guillotines.
  • the moving parts grouped by example on common ferrules for each of series of openings, can then be moved to means of zippers crossing the disc 30 and finished by operating handles.
  • the ironing machine advantageously comprises temperature detection means making it possible to control the temperature over the entire length of the ironing cylinder 14.
  • these temperature detection means include three temperature sensors 72, 74 and 76, mounted on the chassis 10 outside the cylinder of ironing 14 and in the immediate vicinity thereof.
  • the sensor 72 is placed in front of the central part of the cylinder while the sensors 74 and 76 are placed in face of each of its ends.
  • the central sensor 72 is used to pilot the start and stop of the means of heating formed by electrical resistances 42. More specifically, this sensor 72 controls the stopping of the heating when the detected temperature exceeds one given high threshold and it controls the start-up of the heating when the temperature drops below a given low threshold.
  • Temperature sensor 74 is used meanwhile for the implementation and stopping of fan 62 in front of which it is located. More precisely, the temperature sensor 74 controls the starting the electric motor 64 when the detected temperature exceeds a given high threshold and it controls the stopping of this engine when the temperature detected becomes below a given low threshold.
  • the temperature 76 controls the starting and stopping of the fan 68 in front of which it is located. More precisely, the temperature sensor 76 controls the starting the electric motor 70 when the detected temperature exceeds a given high threshold and it controls the stopping of this motor 70 when the temperature detected becomes below a given low threshold.
  • the temperature thresholds high and low temperature thresholds detected by temperature sensors 74 and 76 are the same.
  • the temperature 72, 74 and 76 can in particular be two-contact thermostats. Alternatively, they can also consist of sensors associated with a electric circuit.
  • the machine according to the invention has has been described in its preferential application to ironing clothes, it can also be used for ensure the dimensioning of a piece of laundry by thermofixation or as part of the fixing of dyes on textile parts by heat setting.
