Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a process for producing aqua printing on cloth. More particularly, the present invention relates to a process for producing aqua printing on cloth where the figures and/or patterns will appear when they come in contact with water.
  • the process for producing aqua printing on cloth according to the present invention basically comprises the steps of:
  • crosslinking bonds are formed between the selected components contained in the aqua printing paste and the fiber of the cloth.
  • the components not bonded with the fiber of the cloth are washed off with water. Then the design and/or pattern on the selected area of the cloth surface will be visible when they are wet with water.
  • the present invention also relates to a process of producing aqua printing a white pattern on cloth, which comprises the steps of:
  • the aqua printing on cloth according to the present invention can be treated with a water-proof process by coating the surface of the cloth with a liquefied polyurethane resin (PU) or acrylic resin so that a film is formed thereon, resulting in a water-proof and air-tight effect.
  • PU polyurethane resin
  • acrylic resin liquefied polyurethane resin
  • the aqua printing on cloth of the present invention is typically used near or in water. Consequently, it is used in the manufacture of items such as tablecloths, swimming suits, beachwear, umbrellas, handkerchiefs, towels, tents, jackets, and tarpaulins.
  • the aqua printing on cloth of the present invention can be used to display different designs in wet or dry situation.
  • the collocation of the color and design of the aqua printing on cloth according to the present invention may produce an unconventional effect.
  • the aqua printing on cloth of the present invention also can show whether an item is dry or not. This is not only helpful in distinguishing its state but also in deciding whether it needs be further dried.
  • the process for producing aqua printing on cloth of the present invention comprises the steps of:
  • the aqua printing on cloth according to the present invention can be treated with a waterproof process, so as to make the aqua printing on cloth waterproof.
  • the waterproof process comprises the steps of coating glue on one or both surfaces of the cloth and curing the glue.
  • the present invention also relates to a process of aqua printing a white pattern on cloth, which comprises the steps of:
  • the present invention is further specified by the following preferred embodiments. Unless indicated otherwise, the following percents are calculated based on weight.
  • the aqua printing paste is composed of: a. Aqua printing source paste 95% 1. emulsifier, 5% 2. water, 45%, 3. high-flash aromatic naphtha, 50% b. Water repellant 5%
  • Water repellants are a well-known product in this art and most of them are commercially available, such as FC-270 supplied by PROPULSION CO. Ltd., Taiwan.
  • the aqua printing paste is manufactured by uniformly mixing 95% aqua printing source paste and 5% water repellent (FC-270), wherein the aqua printing source paste is formed by mixing and emulsifying 5% emulsifier, 45% water and 50% high-flash aromatic naphtha at a mixer velocity of 1500-2000 rpm.
  • the white pigment paste is composed of: a. Source paste 40% 1. fixing agent, (ACRAMIN PUD, supplied by BAYER, Taiwan) 40% 2. sodium hexametahposphate, 0.1% 3. emulsifier VA, 1.17% 4. emulsifier WV, (Supplied by CHIN YEE CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES LTD., Taiwan) 1.5% 5. diethylene glycol, 8% 6. crosslinking agent, (ACRAFIX MF supplied by BAYER, Taiwan) 5% 7. high-flash aromatic naphtha, (Miao No. 1, supplied by CHINESE PETROLEUM CORPORATION., Taiwan) 5% 8. water, 37.33% 9. synthetic paste, ( ACRACONZ BN, supplied by BAYER, Taiwan) 1.9% b. white pigment, (Pigment DRN) 60%
  • emulsifier WV 0.1% sodium hexametahposphate, 1.17% emulsifier VA and 1.5% emulsifier WV are mixed with 8% diethylene glycol, 6% crosslinking agent (ACRAFIX MF), 37.33% water and 1.9% synthetic paste (ACRACONZ BN), then is uniformly stirred to form a uniform mixture.
  • 5% high-flash aromatic naphtha Miao No. 1 is slowly added into the mixture while stirring is continued at a velocity of 1500-2000 rpm. After the mixture is completely emulsified, the fixing agent (ACRAMIN PUD) is added to form a source paste.
  • the white pigment paste is manufactured by mixing 40% source paste and 60% white pigment (Pigment DRN).
  • the screens used for the aqua printing paste and white pigment paste are different.
  • the screen suitable for the aqua printing paste is 1800 mesh; and the screen suitable for the white pigment paste is 1000 mesh.
  • the cloth After printing, the cloth is cured and fixed at a condition of 180°C x 60 meter/min (overfeed stuff +3%). During curing and fixing, the materials printed on the cloth react with the fiber of the cloth to form crosslinking bonds.
  • the cloth After drying, the cloth is washed with water at a speed of 30 meter/min (80°C) without adding any additives to remove all the unreacted materials.
  • the cloth After washing, the cloth can be optionally dried.
  • the temperature for drying is 120°C.
  • the fixing agent (ACRAMIN PUD) is an anion dispersion of polyurethane polyester of fatty series. This fixing agent is suitable for the situation where the source paste either contains very little high-flash aromatic naphtha or doesn't contain any high-flash aromatic naphtha. Additionally, this fixing agent makes textiles flexible.
  • the emulsifier is a non-ionic derivative of polyethylene glycol, which promotes the uniformity of the printed color, reduces the sensibility of kneading, increases the osmosis ability of the paste and promotes the fluidity of the paste. It also has a preferable resistance to electrolytes, acids and bases.
  • the emulsifier is a non-ionic derivative of aryl polyethyldiether, which increases the fluidity of the paste during printing color and can be easily removed during the period of washing the screen. It also has a preferable resistance to electrolytes, acid, base and hardwater.
  • Diethylene glycol increases the smoothness of the color printing paste, decreases clogging the screen and promotes the softness of the paste film formed on the cloth.
  • the crosslinking agent (ACRAFIX MF) is a colorless liquid of etherfied melamine resin, which forms a multi-functional crosslinking bond and promotes the adhesive effect of the film during washing. Additionally, it has preferable fluidity.
  • the high-flash aromatic naphtha is an oil produced by MiaoLi Oil Plant of China, named Miao No. 1, which is the emulsified oil in oil and water solution.
  • the synthetic paste (ACRACONQ BN) is a copolymer of ammonium salt of the acrylic series, which have preferable properties of resisting electrolysis and hardwater. Additionally, it promotes the chromaticity value and uniformity of the printing, and is also easily processed and washed off after printing. Furthermore, the designs and/or patterns on the cloth surface look clearer.
  • Sodium hexametahposphate is a water-processing agent which ensures the quality of water.
  • the emulsifier helps water and the high-flash aromatic naphtha (Miao 1) to combine with each other by destroying the boundary tension between the water and the high-flash aromatic naphtha.
  • the water repellent (FC-270) is a positive ions' water repellent of fluorine series, which produces an oil repelling and water-repelling effect.
  • the cloth with aqua printing according to the present invention can be treated with a waterproof process so as to make the aqua printing cloth waterproof.
  • the agents that can be used for the waterproof treatment are:
  • Polyurethane (PU) resin (RS-25CD): 67% Surface conditioner (CRISVON ADDITIVE No.5): 1% Crosslinking agent (DC-75): 1% Solvent (M.E.K): 25.7% Gold or silver powder: 5.3% c.
  • Polyurethane resin ( RS-25CD): 70% Surface conditioner (CRISVON ADDITIVE No.5): 1% Crosslinking agent (DC-75): 1 % Solvent (M.E.K): 28 % A.
